Julia, you are such a fantastic teacher! I am just now catching up with all of your tutorials. i have just purchased a Janome 9480 and now, rather than being intimidated by such a sophisticated machine, I can’t wait to get started! I am living abroad, and while almost everyone speaks English and I speak my second language, things are never quite as clear as in my native English. Your clear presentations and demonstrations, as well as your humour make every tutorial a real pleasure. As an added note, I bought my first Janome, a MemoryCraft 6000, in 1984 and it has given me 40 years of problem-free sewing pleasure. If things have ever gone wrong while sewing, I have always known it was me and not my 6000! But with aging eyes, the time has come for better needle threading, lighting and simplified functions. Fingers crossed that the 9480 will give me as much joy. And thank you for your wonderful tutorials!
Catching up - late to watching this video in full. Thank you again for another excellent tutorial. Thank you also for the links to the video watching the amazing textile artist at work.
Didn’t know this existed. Had a 607 since before covid. I use it for quilting, mostly for Linus and need to learn more about free machining. Currently I quilt using built in stitches but they can take a lot of thread and also time. Here’s to learning more
Sone of the earlier videos are on the M200 or the 5270QDC both of which work on Modes in the same way which should help but if you have any questions on this or previous videos specific to your machine please do ask in the comments! I don't have all the models in my sewing room I'm afraid so I've tried to go with a mix but happy to help.xx
Great vid! Just wondering what you did to “tell the machine” that you are embroidering? I can’t seem to find such a setting on my Atelier 3 despite having gone through the instruction manual. With my older (not computerised Janome) machine you just popped your foot down and sewed!
Thank you🙂 Tha t foot is only availafor specific Cat D machines I'm afraid a nd wouldn't fit your DKS100.If you want to lessen the hopping then it might be looking at the convertible set which I show which you can get for Cat B xx
Thank you for a good tutorial. Have you had that black mark on your hand checked out ? My cousin had similar and it needed attention immediately, melanoma.
@janomestitchclubuk7137 thank you for replying so quickly, im pleased you have it checked regularly, I can go to sleep now and not be concerned. Night night xx
I own a Vintage Singer, Janome (older model) and new Baby Lock machine - all have the capacity of lowering your feed dogs, giving you the control of the fabric - but every time I switch between the models I have to refresh myself on how THAT particular machine works - so simply check your manual, and then give yourself a few shortcuts for the next time. This video shows various feet to use for the FME which I am going to look into after such great info - but just have fun with it! I usually use a hoop while doing this, but your hands alone can work just fine. Enjoy =)
Best free motion video I've seen 👍🇦🇺
Thank you😁
This was a lot of fun! I love your Christmas tags and flower in the hoop! You are giving me inspiration and encouragement!
That's lovely to hear! Like I said, I'm no expert, but it's such fun to mess around with!

@ToobieBoobieful the Atelier3 will be the same...drop the feed dogs, hopping foot on , stitch length to 0 and away you go! xx
This is lovely, I’m going to try it, my machine came with the foot but what thread should I use please?
Something with a bit of polyester in it usually works best as it's stronger so less likely to snap.Maybe a Gutermann AllSew? Xx
Excellent video. Wondering can i use the Qo free motion foot cat D you used at the end on a janome DKS100? Or is there a cat b version?

I s a janome 7025 suitable for free motion sewing? Not sure you can raise the feed dog.

Yes it us.Check your instruction book. I think there is a button to slide across at the back of the machine but it will tell you in the book. Xx
Which model is this machine ?
Hiya it's the Atelier 9, which is a sewing/embroidery combo. Xx
Changing feet from free motion back to normal
Hi not sure what you mean. In the very last couple of minutes I show how to bring the feed dogs back up is that what you mean? X
@@janomestitchclubuk thank you. Yes I watched your video and it showed what I needed to know
