Given that the Twinblade Talisman was buffed, I’d be curious what the optimal moveset actually is for pulling this bonus off in practice, both for PvE and PvP.
I am very late to this video, but I am very glad I found it. I always tend to gravitate towards the playstyle of Dual Daggers/Shortswords in most RPGs for aesthetic reasons. Everything you said about Daggers is correct, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents: While Daggers have a place in this game for certain playstyles and builds, Daggers are unfortunately outclassed by Claws in virtually every way. Especially when comparing Dual-wield Daggers to Dual-Wield Claws. The Dual-Claw moveset is like having the Damage of the Dual-Daggers, but the faster and more fluid moveset of 1h/2h Dagger. They also have stronger jump and Heavy Attacks, as well as having an inherent 60 Bleed (or 72 Deadly Poison on the Venomous Fang) that builds up insanely quick due to how many attacks they can output. They also seem to have more poise damage, especially on their Heavy Attacks, allowing them to stance break or stagger enemies that Daggers can't. Their ranges are also comparable, but ultimately negligible. Even when looking at Status builds, a Keen infused Claw buffed with Bloodflame or Blood Grease will outclass even dual Reduvias in terms of Bleed buildup, while being very close when infused with Occult at high Arcane. Here is some data to show what I mean: As you mentioned, the Dual Dagger Paired combo can complete its entire combo and Roll-dodge within 90 Frames, Dealing 888 MV Damage and 560 Status Buildup. Claws will be able to Dodge after their entire 6-hit combo at 108 frames, dealing 1057 MV Damage and 720 Status Buildup. Obviously, 108 Frames is longer than 90 Frames. However, if the player chooses to stop the combo at the 5th attack, they will be able to roll dodge at the 86th frame, still dealing 845 MV Damage and 590 Status Buildup. Slightly Less MV Damage, slightly more Status Buildup, and 4 fewer frames. However, you also have to bear in mind two things: 1) Claws will typically have a higher AR than Daggers (Keen Raptor Talons will have 466 AR at 80 Dex compared to the Celebrant's Sickle 430 AR). 2) This is during a combo where there are a two attacks that only hit with 1 Claw for 130 and 135 MV damage, meaning Defense makes less of a difference. This ultimately leads to Claws Dealing more Damage by the 5th attack than Daggers at their 4th. This essentially means that Claws, even by their 5th attack, will outpace Dual Daggers in both Damage AND Status, while also being broken up over more attacks, meaning more opportunities to dodge out of the way of an attack. Daggers only end up outpacing Claws in Critical Hit Damage and the number of Ashes of War that is available to them, as well as some certain Daggers having unique uses (Black Knife being a good example). Dual Erdsteel Daggers will also being a strong choice on a Faith build just due to how absurd their AR can get, despite their split damage. Sorry for the wall of text. Liked and subbed 🙂
My favourite playthrough was with a misericorde and buckler with the health+fp on critical talismans. Not optimal dps but definitely a rewarding way to play the game. Was fun in invasions too
@@skykid I was stacking dex, last i tried at least you got much higher damage from split damage ripostes so lightning was my goto but fire with str was also great. I recommend running a poise/stance breaking swap for big enemies whose attacks cant be parried, I used longsword with square off because flame of the redmanes felt too cheesy but anything with that kinda effect works.
@@Lilybun I'm currently doing something similar; I have 50/50 dex faith with 25 arc. Flame Art Misericorde w/ Resolve and a Noble's Estoc w/ Thunderbolt, but I'll definitely consider square off. I've never really done the nonelemental ashes :v
Erdsteel dagger is way better if used with a faith infusion. Both physical and holy damage will scale off faith. Additionally, scared blade can be used to buff both weapons if powerstanced. Also the glintstone kris shouldn’t be ignored. It has the best bullet art in the game in terms of damage and fp efficiency. Even if it’s just used as AoW stick, it can one shot a player if used with shard of Alexander and Godfrey icon. It’s a must have for an int. build because of how superior it is to Comet except in dps.

How do you always manage to post your videos right after updates with big stat altering changes 💀. Appearantly elemental infusions have been changed considerably
As someone whos done 2 almost full play throughs of dual daggers, it gets rough. You always have to be up in someones face, and that starts to matter more than it did when you get to Altus Plateau due to effects that linger, or magma or rot, or aoe moves. But your status ailments are quick with decent arcane and correct scaling and attribute selection. Also for me quickstep became my best friend, with an ash of war customizable dagger in my main hand, and with a special dagger (Reduvia, Scorp Stinger) in my off hand.
Having played a dagger run, the "not really stance breaking" isn't my experience for bosses. I would pretty consistently get at least 1 stance break per boss due to how often I could sneak hits in compared to slow weapons. You can easily keep the poise meter from refilling with a single light attack without exposing yourself much. Word of caution, though: this is aggressive and it stops your stamina regen, even though it doesn't use much.
Fellow twohanded dagger friends. You are legends!! The Erdsteel dagger is good for the following reasons: It gets the highest AR of any dagger if infused with either sacred or flame art. While having a 110 crit mutliplier. This ensures good damage up close while also dealing significant crit damage, because that is based on your total AR. Especially for pvp this is important, because even though single physical damage is better on paper, there are several reasons it stagnates in pvp, these being: Boiled prawns are very common and used frequently, elemental damage negation is lower than in pve especially holy (not on an arcane build) and additionally buffs to fire or holy damage are easily accessible because of the mixed physics and body buffs from faith spells, which you have access to with a faith build. Lastly the R2 is unique (kind of). It covers a big range and hits twice. The Rotten Sword Insignia or Milicents Prosthesis active their effect after this R2 even though they normally do that after three hits. Poise damage seems to also be higher than on regular dagger R2s. This thing gets big value out of twohanding because the R2 deals more poise damage, has a higher AR and still retains all its bonuses. It’s probably the most fun dagger I have tried until now!
I'm dual wielding erdsteels right now, it's pretty fun but very challenging. Left is infused with sacred, right is left with quickstep so i can apply black flame.
@@duycuong7693 It depends really: I like to run 24 END in order to dodge and attack frequently. You have many options really because daggers and seals weigh so little. Not equipping a seal may be necessary if you don’t plan on running the Great Jar’s arsenal. Rotten sword insignia, Green Turtle or the dagger talismans are all good options as well as the faith heirloom. It boosts you damage quite a bit because the damage scales nicely up to 80 faith. Be sure to have multiple daggers ready with different affinities and ashes for quickswapping. Spells are only really two I think are important: Catch flame and Flame grant me Strength but you have access to pretty much any spell. The crucible incants may have some use because of their poise damage. My favorite dagger ash is the sacred blade. Nice range, nice poise damage and it’s projectile scales of faith - it will do good damage. On top of that it increases the weapons AR even further. Very useful on a holy dagger, which is better for most engagements because of the lower resistance. Lastly: a small shield can be very beneficial if you can parry. The crit damage is very good as i mentioned, so reliably pulling ripostes can be ridiculously strong. I have to say though, that fighting with a dagger is very hard. They are still somewhat lackluster even after the 1.08 update, even though that helped daggers a lot. If you are someone who gets frustrated easily know, that it will be a long way until success and even then probably only versus the non-meta weapons primarily. I really love fighting with a specific style though. Good Luck!
8:56... Actually, no, you can apply the Buff to both weapons. You simply have the go in order. If you 2hand your left hand weapon, and use the Buff, it does Buff the left weapon. After that, you switch to power stance and Buff again, so, you Buff both weapons. Granted, this can only be done through oils... Or weapon arts, incantations and spells are unable to do It. This, by the way, apply to every weapon in dual stance.
Ok hear me out on a build i've been trying recently: twohanded misericorde with cragblade, axe and dagger talisman on a strength build. A daggers charged heavy doesn't do incredible poise dmg but is extremely quick and can be used to punish most bosses moves. The misericordes unique heavy lowers the chance of missing the heavy (an issues i've been having with fist weapons for example) and cragblade makes poise breaks more frequent. The last advantage is that you don't even have to switch weapons for your crit.
I’d imagine if you did go down the elemental route the damage advantage powerstancing has would diminish as the 6-10 comparison becomes roughly 12-20. Probably the best route for erdsteel dagger, especially with sacred blade. iirc two handing also negates deflections, so it’s pretty much damage vs a million slightly better things. Of course dual wield can become two handing in a very short amount of time.
Even my secondary medium equip loadout on my strength/faith build used dual daggers. I found that spamming unfinished L1 combos put so many swipes in an invader's general direction that eventually their septic tank latency can no longer save them.
You can apply the buffs to both weapons when powerstancing. You just 2h your offhand first, then swap to wielding both and use the grease again which will cost your main hand
I’d be very interested to know what’s a weapon you really wanted to be good bc you thought it looked really cool was.. or maybe you love the aow. Did you ever want to make something work bc you had a soft spot for its cool looks even though it had shitty output? 😅
Bastard's Star. It plays fine for PVP when the enemy isn't as experienced, but against better players its very hard to make use of. Crossing my fingers as I do 1.09 notes to hopefully see it be much better due to flail buffs!
@@Chrightt that’s awesome. I didn’t know what I was expecting but not bastard star! Tbh I really loved it too when I first saw it bc I thought it was really pretty. Great video, as always. I think with a non-bleed setup I would probably right hand a Blade of Calling for the amazing poise damage with its ash of war and powerstance a Black Knife in case I want to switch to its ash of war. Not sure if that would maximize AR but it might be interesting to play. Of course I would always be ready to cast Giantsflame with an Erdtree seal.
Would be/ is good But holy damage is resisted higher the deeper you go in the game The AR of neither dagger is higher than weapon affinity daggers or buffed with sacred blade / (flame art) Is blade of calling substantial stance damage? Never seen anyone mention it. It’s not super fast because of the long animation of the flipping around
Hi Chrightt, I've been going through your videos regarding the different weapon classes and I noticed that you don't often go in-depth regarding which weapons are best for max stats. The only one I've seen was your straight swords video while every other video was basically when you briefly mention quality infusion on your weapons. I'd like to suggest a video idea regarding the top weapons for max stats, not just regular but also unique weapons. Many people say that max stats isn't a build, but not all weapons are made equal. I'd really like it if you made a video on this.
@@Chrightt Sure, but I was thinking in terms of crunch, since this video was two-handing versus power-stancing, and you'd presumably be levelling Strength with that one.
Awesome video! Just wondering which class is best for this build. Warrior with high dex or Confessor with high faith? Or was it Vagabond in the video? .... P.S. I am interested in your book :)
You can't if its a spell buff cause you need to hold your catalyst to buff the off-hand and you can only buff the off-hand by 2-handing it. Seppuku can be attached to off-hand so its different.
How do you think a 2handed strength build would perform compared to your powerstanced dex build? I feel like at lower levels (when you're still hovering around the 50-60 on your main damage stat) the strength build could out damage the dex version due to the str bonus of 2handing.
At lower levels + fire infusion I think str builds can do alright. Dex is just better to transition into especially because strength's main bullet art is flame of redmanes which got nerfed quite hard and doesn't spam as well as thunderbolt for range.
Nice analysis, although it's a shame you downgrade Erdsteel dagger PS build as that is a lot of fun and underappreciated. Power stance on daggers is way more of a fun factor for me, even if by any chance it should yield less damage.
Doing a perfumer build and was curious which ash of war you’d put on the erdtree dagger. Trying to keep level around 130 for pvp and need at least 40 dex for spark aromatic. Thanks for any help!
For Erdsteel dagger I suggest sacred/flame infusion with enough faith. I would probably go for something like sacred blade just to give it more damage buff while still being usable as a holy projectile in case enemies are strong vs fire.
1 handed right hand dagger with offhand greatspear for pvp. defualt moveset ( slashing R2 ) any other mainhand dagger setup is not worth it. Can be cinq offlance or reduvia offmohg. setup recommended by the likes of Faraday, space and of course me
Not with spell buffs as you need to 2-hand your offhand but you also need to hold a catalyst :) This isn't seppuku and their effects are way stronger than greases.
I'm commenting mid viewing but you haven't mentionned the fact that strength is multiplied by 1.5 when 2-handing, which significally raises the AR on heavy or fire affinity
Yes, that is because the main focus is to use dex for bullet art (thunderbolt) as strength does not have an equivalent option. I've also analyzed the str/dex daggers in my dagger breakdown. You will see that difference is minimal especially for daggers.
Daggers are a mess, man. You can push your body completely against some enemies and somehow the dagger still doesn’t hit. I switched to a fist weapon and it has more range. You literally cannot hit an erdtree avatar with a dagger. It’s so bad.
Jump attack and running attack still has enough range but yeah hitting enemies is the real challenge of dagger builds if it wasn't, daggers could have been so op. But hitboxes(or whatever they called) in this game is so tight/small for some enemies and bosses.
I'm using reduvia for my right hand so whenever hitboxes causing problems I'm switching to ranged battle. The Ashe of war has good DMG with right build and it's pretty fast too, I'm highly recommending reduvia for a power stance dagger build.
Would like to see your take on all the BS thrust weapon nerfs to PVE of the most recent patch. IDK why they would nerf thrust swords when no one uses them for pve, ridiculous. It seems all they want us to use is spam and daggers tbh, I love the rouge style this game has but I am still waiting to play this game because the balance patches are just poorly executed for all the weapons I like. Thanks.
its good video but still you NEVER had the time it more than TWO time VS any regular BOSS on this game...YOU never had time! noble? no time, commander niel, no time! dragon? no time!crucible knight? no time....etc etc
Actually, this is a build request video from someone that wants to beat the game with the build. I don't want to spoil the boss fight, but I've tried fighting bosses with it (albeit my vagabond character was at 150 cause I didn't reset it for my other vid).

Would be/ is good
But holy damage is resisted higher the deeper you go in the game
The AR of neither dagger is higher than weapon affinity daggers or buffed with sacred blade / (flame art)
Is blade of calling substantial stance damage? Never seen anyone mention it.
It’s not super fast because of the long animation of the flipping around
2h str dagger bleed build sounds super funny and I'm totally doing it
I eagerly wait for your 1.09 video. :)
Aww man, I was hoping to know how the cinquedea compares. Good stuff though, thanks!
You can check my dagger breakdown for that one! Dagger Breakdown vid has already been out for quite a while :)

@@Chrightt Sure, but I was thinking in terms of crunch, since this video was two-handing versus power-stancing, and you'd presumably be levelling Strength with that one.
I love Daggers, and in-depth breakdowns. So i guess iam right here.
Awesome video! Just wondering which class is best for this build. Warrior with high dex or Confessor with high faith? Or was it Vagabond in the video? .... P.S. I am interested in your book :)
thx for this excellent video
You can buff both weapons while powerstancing? Just two hand the left weapon to buff, then buff the right hand weapon.
They released a patch just before your video haha! You should post more often so we get patches more often lol
Do you find not having 51 poise detrimental? As in do you get interrupted during attacks a lot?
Nice analysis, although it's a shame you downgrade Erdsteel dagger PS build as that is a lot of fun and underappreciated. Power stance on daggers is way more of a fun factor for me, even if by any chance it should yield less damage.
Well dang it. Now I need celebrant sickle instead of erdsteels. This sucks. What’s the drop rate on those. 1 in a million…
when’s the greataxe video coming ?
I am not understanding anything... So does it mean duel wield or power stance?
Can be cinq offlance or reduvia offmohg. setup recommended by the likes of Faraday, space and of course me
9:00 you can buff both hands tho?
Not with spell buffs as you need to 2-hand your offhand but you also need to hold a catalyst :) This isn't seppuku and their effects are way stronger than greases.
Thank you.
Good thing they didn't bother to buff daggers with the patch today 😅
😂 The tragedy if they did.
I would rather they did get a buff tbh 😔
Can you do a roundup of update 1.09?
I will in the next vid.
Isn't power stance reduvia better for status build up
Iirc single reduvia does more bleed buildup but power stance does more dps
Blood infused dagger has better build up then reduvia for light/heavy attacks. Most of the buildup in the reduvia is in the weapon art
feel like shit; just want my corvian greatknife/blindspot back
Only a few hours after 1.09
Love ya
Erdtree One-handed Gang rise up
I'm commenting mid viewing but you haven't mentionned the fact that strength is multiplied by 1.5 when 2-handing, which significally raises the AR on heavy or fire affinity
@@Rektz31 yeah, I did that too. I just got tired of it. It’s strong, but not very engaging.
TLDR? Celebrant Sickle best dagger.
Why doesnt he ever miss
DOBLE WHIP PLZ
You're forgetting the most important factor of all though... STYLE. Powerstance is way cooler 😂
😅 good job
The dagger of all time
Would like to see your take on all the BS thrust weapon nerfs to PVE of the most recent patch.
I don't want to spoil the boss fight, but I've tried fighting bosses with it (albeit my vagabond character was at 150 cause I didn't reset it for my other vid).
howdy
