    Thank you so much for doing this! I bought a D1600 from a man on Facebook for 100.00 about 4 months back and Im now finding time to enjoy this. I printed the manual online but your tutorial is a heck of a lot more helpfull! I love the sounds I can get out of this tabletop machine. I have the silver one! Korg makes some fantastic gear!

    I just got a used Korg D16XD and this is the very first video I've seen on how to use a Korg recorder. I figured the smaller unit you explain here would cover most of what I need to know on how the units work. I'm an improvisational composer on piano, guitar, and chromatic harmonica and author of books on music. But this is my first step into sound recording, and I like your style. (I was a PBS and Cable producer, and been performing music from the age of 5...so am no stranger to music. Looking forward to the journey. And THANK YOU!.

    I have a d16 sleeping in a corner of my attick for 2 years because I was confused about it. Bought it off an old guy who never used it. Finally I have found a good tutorial to play around with it. Thank you sir. Please let more videos come about the d16. Kind regards , you got a subscriber.

    You said: "I really should make a series." Many of us agree -- might as well -- you started something good! I have a D-16 also, and find the advanced options rather confusing, so some guidance would be very welcome. I also want to add that I'm really sad that Korg hasn't supported this machine, as it's a very useful device that meets a lot of musical needs. Thanks for the video you've done--good job! --please do more.

    This is a GREAT video! You explained everything exactly as it needed to be explained. Not too much detail, just the right amount to "get it done".
    I have the Korg D1600 so it's slighly different, but menu & navigation seems the same. My only question (which I'm sure I'll have figured out after trying) is if you can record 3-4 tracks or more at the same time.

      Hey Eric! Thank you so much for watching. Yes, if you just engage each of the tracks you want recorded, you can definitely record more then one track at a time. Peace and Love to you and your Fam Brotha. If ya ever need any help, don't hesitate to reach out. 😁✌

    Great video! I really wanted to buy a Korg D16 when it was released in 1999 but the lack of phantom power on the mic pres turned me off. It also wasn't a true 16 track recorder with 16 mono tracks but rather 8 mono plus 4 stereo tracks. The D1600 and D1600 Mk11 offered 16 mono tracks. B

    I have a question, I have a 1600 MKii and I am having trouble figuring out what kind of cable to use to connect powered monitors.
    The book says to use "phone cables" but my speakers have a TRS input. Im confused if I just need 1/4" speaker cables or trs cables? It has a left and right monitor out.
    I know typically that you could just experiment with cables, but I hooked up a TRS to XLR out of one of those and I burned up my powered speaker and I blew up a capacitor. So now I need to know what I'm supposed to be using

    Hello and thank you very much for this explicit video. My question is the following: then I record 8 different tracks at the same time (I think so) and above all, after I would like to recover them on the hard disk that I connect to a computer not in 2 stereo tracks but the 8 separate tracks. Is this possible?

    • @therichmeister10
      @therichmeister10 Рік тому

      I have a D16; you cannot output all the individual tracks, but using the D-sub 25-SCSI pin connector on the back, you can pass on the tracks to an external drive. If you're clever, maybe you can break out the tracks by connecting to another mixer.

    I have a korg D 16. I would like to know how, after recording, I can manipulate the tempo of the song to make it slower or faster, without changing the pitch.

    • @theamaturepro
      @theamaturepro 4 місяці тому

      I don't know the definite answer, but I'd assume that you can't simply because it's digitally not possible. You might be able to adjust the tempo and then try to adjust the pitch back though, but I wouldn't expect it to not ruin the quality. I've not messed with any of that, but with digital audio, changing the speed will always distort the pitch

      @@maenaka11 I can't believe I'm saying this, but you might ask the chat gpt if it can do it or tell you how. I'm not a fan of this AI crap, but I successfully used it to solve a very difficult math problem the other day. Might be worth a try. I just inherited my dad's ancient D12 and am trying to learn how to use it. How's your D16 working for you?

    • @maenaka11
      @maenaka11 4 місяці тому

      @@theamaturepro The D16 provides me with everything I need in terms of recording efficiency and quality. It is a powerful machine with many features. But, I am also in the learning process.

    • @theamaturepro

      @@maenaka11 even the old machines are pretty great machines. I think my dad bought his in 2000 and used it till 2016 when he replaced it with a 32 track. The d12 still works, but the hard drive is failing I think. It can only do one song with a full load of tracks and then the memory is full. That's fine for me, I only use 2 tracks for piano. He does much larger projects. When it dies I think I'll probably switch to using a computer instead of a machine like this unless I get a good deal on a used one

      The two I bought years ago each came with a 2.1G hard drive, 2 - 3 songs max. Completely inadequate. But... even tho Korg tech will probably tell you the drive is proprietary and can't be swapped out, in fact it's simply a laptop drive, and I replaced one with a 60G and the other with an 80G. Plenty of storage. You gotta plug everything into the correct spots, tho.

      To be honest. I only had the hardware for a few days. I just made a very basic video for my friend who had one. So instead of just making him a private video. I just made one for my channel so that i could share the basic knowledge with anyone. There was a ton of stuff i did not go over. I really should make a series. But at least people have the basics for now. Thanks for the comment brotha. I will definitely take this in to consideration. Peace and Love From Team Unco Studios Salinas, Ca.
