  • You've Got Questions, I've Got Cancer Ep. 3: What is it Like to Have Cancer?
I talk about my MRI results, how Opdivo + Yervoy immunotherapy is going, and describe a common question that people may not be comfortable asking me in person.
So what is it like to hear that you have cancer, and how does that shift your outlook on things?
There's a lot to go over, including mortality, mental health, and feeling fortunate for my situation in spite of having stage 4 melanoma, and what my hopes are for my diagnosis + prognosis combination.
I really appreciate the support, and remember to like & subscribe so I can validate my self-worth (or whatever we accrue internet points for).
I also started a Twitter account. If you want to hear my inane cancer thoughts, follow along there or on Instagram:

I have stage IV lung cancer, was on Opdivo for over 7 years, due to side effects I am on an extended tx break, my last scans were good but my side effects continue. However, I am still here over 8 years since DX! The gift of time is priceless…but it comes with emotional cost. Reaching out to others in the cancer community is vital for all of us ❤ Glad your MRI was clear!

Thank you for the sharing of your thoughts. I found for me during my cancer trek and during all my life's challenges, to continue to be productive saved my sanity. Whatever " productivity" looks like to you, do it. It may be learning something new about yourself, offering comfort to someone else, learning how to take a risk by voicing your opinion about something, reading and exploring a new subject. Whatever it is, it will make you feel like you're alive and not just "waiting" for the next scan, the next drug, the next doctor's visit. And to remind yourself of this one fact, none of us know how long we have. Live like your hairs on fire!!! And when you don't feel well, go inside and find that comfortable, safe haven within. If you're not sure where it is, begin creating it. Onward!

I totally agree that being productive and living life is the best way to stay sane during cancer/treatment. After all, we're always looking for the best outcome - which is that we get to continue living the life we choose, not what is dictated to us by a diagnosis.

Best outcome sounds good. The "get out of cancer jail card" will help. Love you so much!

Good luck. a lot of vaxxed people have gotten cancer and other health issues since being vaxxed in the last 2 years or so. I have 8 family members this has happened to, seems like alot to be a coincidence
