  • My name is Mike Linn, and I'm a stage 4 melanoma patient. I'm making UA-cam videos to document my cancer journey, keep me mentally healthy, and to connect with other people who are affected by cancer.
Today, I'm giving an update on how my immunotherapy treatment is going while also talking briefly about how I'm responding emotionally to the tough situation I face.
My cancer vlogs are meant to be a mix between personal insights and resources for cancer patients or anyone going through their own trauma. Most people will face difficult times in life at one point or another, and developing our coping mechanisms and trauma responses will help us with our mental health.
I'm certainly not an expert on this topic yet, but I'm learning more and more each day. I hope you can take some of what I describe and apply it to your life if you find yourself in a tough spot.
Thank you for watching this video and supporting me. If you like and subscribe, it helps other people find my content and keeps my channel growing.

Well done again Mike. I can't believe you can do all this without editing any of it. Impressed...oh, how long has that notebook behind you on the piano been in the background? I just noticed it.

One of my coping mechanisms is to "go hermit" and lay low from friends and family. I live with elderly mom and take care of her along with struggling with my Stg 4 metastatic breast cancer. I have bigtime help from siblings so I'm ok. But I just don't want to go out and socialize or do much of anything other than a quick trip to grocery store. I am at the point in life where I don't need anything at all except good food, something to read, good music and no news. I avoid all the negative $hit that's on TV. Catching up on Yellowstone and other series (The Empress rocks!) and cooking my heart out (Mongolian steak, rice, salad) for supper tonight. It's def ok to have ways to de-stress and to relax. Stage 4 cancer doesn't give us much wiggle room at times. It's always "there" so forgetting about it for a few hours is ok in my book. Praying for ya, Mike.

I completely understand that, Lane - there are times where all I went is to rest and eat. I hope all the best for you, too - it seems like you have some good coping mechanisms!

Sounds like a positive today for sure. Do you read off something you prewrote or is this all adlib? You are very well spoken and smart, and You may have a future as a sports announcer. Best to you Mike. You are a good, strong man.

Hey, Geo! I write some notes for each video and then try to ad lib it. Sometimes I have to start over (and once I learn how to properly video edit I'll be able to just do proper cuts). Thanks for the kind words, and I actually used to talk about going into commentating when I was younger. I love sports and talking, so it's a pretty natural fit 🤣
