True. But it didn't buy happiness or solve the kind of problems *money can't buy*. It didn't help him in sobriety. He had what lots of ppl think is "having it all" but he really had nothing, he spent his life painfully lonely. He said so in his book. Looks, talent, money & fame are superficial, he thought it would solve all his problems, initially. If only he'd understood when young that true happiness & contentment doesn't come from that😔. He was so enjoyable to watch or listen to, like this.
He wasn't really playing Chandler.... he was Chandler. He didn't do alot of character acting.... because I think he was better at playing himself than any actual character.
Despite all the heartbreaks we endure this time around with Matthew's passing, there's some joy to be had in knowing that towards the end of his life before his passing, it seemed as though he finally conquered the demons that he struggled for so long throughout his life and managed to pull things together. So he was fighting through it all and never completely gave up and got beaten, he in a way won.
Not to mention that he started the sober living house and helped a lot of people get sober, so even if it turns out in his toxicology report that he relapsed, that won’t change anything for me

Incredible to watch him back then - Haven't seen such comedic in a sitcom acting performance apart from in Frasier. RIP to the legend, Matthew Perry
It was more the show’s narrative that drove who was funny when. Seasons 1-3 were all about Ross and Rachel drama so Chandler/Joey stuff had more room to be laugh out loud funny. Watch season 4 again and once she’s not in a relationship, Jen Aniston/Rachel is really hilarious. She got to shine once she wasn’t the love interest anymore. Once Chandler/Monica got together it handicapped Perry’s talent big time and once the 3 divorces happened to Ross he was a walking punchline and couldn’t miss. RIP Matthew! You made me laugh so many times.
He was so nice. I hope he is in peace now 😢
If none of you have heard of or have seen Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip - i highly recommend watching it. Mathew Perry is a lead role in the show, it's extremely witty and quick, hilarious, dramatic - for me, i think it's one of his biggest roles ever, displaying so much of his versatility as an actor.
1:12 -> 1:59 this is like a stand up bit, frickin great stuff from Matthew Perry here
