Here in Australia the Toyota Coaster is very popular for motorhome conversions. There is a company here in Brisbane Australia that convert new Toyota Coaster buses to 4wd for mine sites & touring companies. Som people have converted 4x4 coaster motor homes.
Toyota has been making 4WD diesel vans such as the uber-reliable HiAce since around 1990. The HiAce Cruising Cabin was factory-equipped as an RV, with sink, refrigerator, pop-up tent, etc.
This generational from do your dad coaster boss start from 1983 to 1989 this look I used to hide one when I was 18 years old back in Middle East same exact your coasters but it was Lyft driver standing Wheel with a manual transmission B3 model diesel this is the best ever deal with that made at that time I really liked your video good job
Got the same shape/length Coaster (1991) here in Australia. Fully reconditioned N/A 3B diesel 5 speed manual. Soon to be turbocharged. My recently departed old man converted it to a motorhome about 10 years ago when he was in his early eighties!! The girl and I look forward to many adventures in it, like a couple of old hippies in a Kombi. A big reliable diesel powered Kombi that is!!😉
@@JonathanLong Have not had ours turbocharged yet. Our NA 3B 4 cylinder diesel will happily sit on 100kph+ now but the slightest little rise will quickly take the wind out of its sails. Towing would really slow her down. A turbo should cure this. A factory six cylinder turbo would get along and tow well I think, as for 120kph? Probably? Depends on gearing and how hard you want to work it. Mind you at 120kph she may be a handful. Not exactly sporty handling.😉
@@imanenigma3348 thank you for the response, I’m thinking about importing one to the USA and our roads are a bit fast and long and people like going 180 kph even when the speed limit is something like 120 kph so I’m just trying to get an idea of what my odds of being rear ended are haha.
@@JonathanLong Hahaha! I have never been to the USA but I know you can certainly build a good road. We have the same fear when our Bus slows on a rise to say 50kph in a 110kph zone, you wonder if following drivers are aware of the closing rate! The best engine from an import would be the 4.2 litre factory turbo six cylinder. I'm not sure of the engine model, may be in this video, but it has plenty of grunt, very reliable and can be chipped to increase output if needed. Coupled with an auto transmission, it would be the pick of the litter. In the shorter wheel base bus like ours and this one, it would go nicely. I like that lengthy sink built into stainless counter,,,,never understood why you can't get that in all other campers , they seem to think having chip board countertop with a sink not big enough to fit a plate into is what people would, want with a Plastic faucet that sits so low you beark it off and order another peice of junk fixture to fit .
I have to say this first. Please understand the importance of showing the vehicle in a parking space. We get so much scale and understanding of how and where we can park. Ok now I can say thank you for a very good tour of one of these intersting busses. I would love a 4wd version of one of these. Hook me up.
If it were mine i'd put a rear ARB steel step so could put either a 125cc dirt bike or mountain bike...possibly a full length roof rack after that Canada Alaska here i come
Having the LP tank inside, instead of outside in a vented locker, is a big no - no. And no toilet? Not even a slide out porta potty? The fridge placement isn't where it originally was either, wasn't in the cavity below the sink? Nice vehicle, but kinda lacking in a couple places. And maybe cure the rattling before the driving part.
Bad question know extra cost change sliding windows, Add manual extension for more space, change Driver side, extra cost to change electric kit Vehicle and Gas tank??!!Maybe figure Babies, Child Seats yes Extra Cost again future thought!Both sides Passenger, Driver Side Camping Driving Mirrors more help full!!

I'd give up the galley for a bathroom with shower. Maybe a microwave and a mini-fridge somewhere, but that's it!

What’s the word on the factory turbo ones? Is a 120 kph drive something that would harm it? Do they tow well, thinking about one for college
