Love your videos. You guys have so much fun and you help me want to hike more often! And eat good food!😁 Stay safe out there! Thank you!!! And I love how you respect all the animals you encounter.
Hello. Great overview of Manning! What site did you stay at Skyview or sites you can recommend. Plan to visit end of Sept for turning of the Larch trees. Tnx. Cliff.
Glad you enjoyed! We can largely recommend almost any sites at Lightning Lake, but at Skyview we quite liked all the summer sites…#58 (at entrance though) thru to #63 are quite close to 20 minute lake, but right up to #85 most seem nice in terms of more of a Mtn side view. We were in #62. Note that #77 -79 look like they are across from the washroom and playground on the BC Parks map. In offseason we have stayed in #92 a few times. We don’t think you can actually book a site number online, but if not you can always give a preference. In our case, we simply dropped in and saw what was free. One last point: we don’t know when they close off the summer sites. BTW our next video is on our favorite hikes at Manning if of interest.
Great video! Gorgeous hikes - Gordon that was some rough terrain the final leg to the top. Nice that you were able to extend your trip impromptu. I do love bears but I think my favourite is the fluffy orange bear you travel with. Belated anniversary wishes to your friends!
Thankyou for taking us up Mt. Frosty. We find Lightning lakes campground colder and buggier than Mule Deer. We usually go to the evening programs there. We were told earlier this summer that the spruce bud worm is also attacking the trees in Manning. Did you get butter tarts at the Rolling Pin in Hope? We only managed once this summer. Nancy
We would expect anything closer to the lakes would have more bugs..fortunately largely done now. We were quite surprised by how much of the forest was impacted by some form of pest. One of the park staff called it an epidemic. Sadly a lot of the forest will die off in the next few years. Unrelated, but hiked past the trail to Elsay Lake today…may have to do that before fall! And we have yet to try the Rolling Pin…nice reminder!
My husband and I camp at Skyview every summer. This year we spent a week. Thanks for sharing both hikes. I think we might try them next summer. Which hike do you think is the hardest? What about Whiskey Joe? Also, thanks for introducing us to Manning as it is one of our favorite parks now.😊
@@dedwards7109 glad it worked well for you! One of ours as well! Tomorrow’s video actually has both hikes and Windy Joe is also included. Mt Frosty is certainly the harder of the ones in this video, in part due to distance and elevation again. Always difficult to say what is hard, as it is so dependent on folks experience and fitness as well.
Great job filming your hikes. Feels like I’m there. I’m afraid of encountering a bear tho. And when you mentioned food in your pack that a bear might smell I sort of freaked out. How do you not be afraid of the possibility of seeing one on or near the trail? You always seem so calm. I didn’t see bear spray on you.
@@kriscostello2082 glad you enjoyed! We don’t usually carry bear spray in Manning as we have only seen 1 in decades: that said, we will do so now we know that there are grizzlies there now too (we carry both an air horn and bear spray if an area with grizzlies). Recently we have come across black bears on several of our short fitness hikes…we leave them alone, respect their space, slowly walk away if needed and they have done the same. We make noise where needed to ensure we don’t surprise them, but otherwise no incidents, though we now add an air horn often.
Manning is always a good time. The skyline hike you did, was that up to the first peak from the spruce bay parking lot? Do you recall how long it took you roundtrip?
Another gorgeous episode guys, this looks and feels really nice! Nicely explained as well 👌👌
@@ervinslens thank you! Appreciated! 🚐
Now I’m craving lemon meringue pie….my go to favourite treat from the Home Restaurant!🥧😆
Sadly, we don’t get a commission…this trip was Blueberry and a Cherry/Peach.

Hi there, we’re planning on being there in 2 weeks for a couple nights. What’s the morning temperature like? Campfires allowed yet?
@@hikenrvi agree
Already got my answer in video, thx.
@@Mark-id7fq 👍. And we think campfire ban has been rescinded now.

Haha, yes we love that little bear too! Next week’s video has a few segments from the top of Frosty as well, but on a nicer day! 🚐🐱

@@Dogfoodsoup79 agreed! it took us approximately 4 hrs round trip of hiking time from our campsite (not too far from Spruce Bay Parking).
