@@stoneautomotive it is a godsend but unfortunately or fortunately I now spot every little fault on the underside of my z4 or e91,if you’re passing by Toulouse in the south of France pop in and we’ll have a good look underneath your car 😉
I have an NA-e46 m3 2003.4 and I had a similar breakdown to yours, I was slowing down at a traffic light before a bridge and it got stuck in second gear for 30 and would not move. I had different codes though, theses are the codes that I got: 24 Selector-lever position L1 02 Solenoid, P/N lock I am wondering it is it the gear position sensor or possibly a sensor that is closer to the stick control or paddle shifts. I tried using both to shift and it did not make a difference.
Sounds like you need to get it on INPA (proper bmw fault finding software) and run the full checks on the system and monitor pump pressure! Have you checked the SMG fluid level to make sure it’s not below the minimum?
@@stoneautomotive I ran it through INPA and got two different errors, 36 and 37 fault codes which most people say it is the gear position sensor or some people call it the gear identification switch. Strange how it does not skip gears but it does get stuck on 4th, 2nd, and neutral
great video yet again i dint half feel your pain trying to crawl underneath in this red hot heat though but dont understand why they so expensive but its good your mate came to rescue to help you have it back on the road for this summer thats main thing also noticed its looking really tidy and rust free under that car of yours for the age compared to what alot are like now 🙂
Thanks mate, yea wasn’t the most fun time of year to be out on the drive way 😅 It’s got the odd bit of surface corrosion, if I had not been going on holiday the following day I would have wire wheeled the v-brace & exhaust brackets and painted them back black but easy enough to do at a later date 👍 Funny enough I was skimming through DannyDC2 video of him getting his black e46 M3 MOT ready and was shocked what a state the underside was on that 🥴
@@stoneautomotive yes mate but thats nothing to what alot are like now you got a solid one there 👍 yes maybe do a few videos on spraying and tidying a few bits up here and there 😉 Oh you follow him aswell i only started following him when he first brought that estriol blue m3 he makes me piss stuff he comes out with hes so down to earth proper yorkshire lad with a mullet 😅😅
If it would of moved under its own power it would have gone to Spartan Automotive 😅 Glad it’s done though, chose one of the hottest days for it though 😅

Love these hands on vlogs, good to see it back up together. Looks so good even when broken atleast 😅
Glad to hear, owning an old BMW allows me to make lots of repair videos 😅
Another great detailed video on the E46 M3. A stunning car
Thanks Paul 👍
Really appreciate these types of videos. Looks like a lot of work. But also very doable for DIY. Thanks! Hopefully I never need to do it. 👍
Thanks Richard, always good to hear 👍
Yea wouldn’t put it down as enjoyable 😅
Fair play mate and good job, when I see people undertaking work like this,I’m so relieved I dug out my own inspection pit in my garage.
I bet that’s a life saver! Wondering if I should just fit a 2 poster ramp on the drive way at this rate 😅

Do you have any videos on replacing the SMG pump motor?
I don’t currently I’m afraid, it’s on my list of jobs to do on the e46 M3 this winter though 👍
How did you install INPA on your computer? What software did you use??
I purchased a kit with the disc & OBD cable off eBay 👍
Need an old lap top though
Another great video mate
Thanks mate 😎
Hi my m3 jumps out of 3rd gear and back in and then it’s alright what do you think it could be kind regards Mem
Really needs to be plugged in INPA and have the SMG test completed as sadly could be a number of reasons for the fault sadly
Where do i buy the cable and the software?

Thanks!
Thanks for the channel support ❤️
Also, starting to have quite the driveway there! All it needs is an e39 m5 and it's perfect.
Drive way fleet has actually reduced, once upon a time there was also an S2000 in the mix 😬
Yea the M5 is certainly one I would like to try 👍

I feel sorry for the rust you have down there. I feel lucky.🦘
Mines one of the better ones too 😅
Some are getting really rotten in the UK now ☹️
New gps huh so you know directions on the nurburgring :p.
