This may sound odd, but while I don’t have any gender, well, “differences”, but I live a similar life to your childhood. This may sound selfish, seen as all I have is a bunch of minor conditions, but then there’s my autism. Due to it, it’s very difficult to make friends, since I live with loads of crackheads, so I get bullied by people. Video games do the same thing to u and me!

I may not be transgender, or any part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I respect and support you and the whole group, and I always will. The story was amazing, and I enjoyed both the feels and the funnies. Jewel's art was also a very nice touch.

the soul is a very complicated thing. Gender is something sometimes you cannot control, yet nowadays we can, and sometimes it is what people need to truly find themselves. Whether or not you are clashing with your inner self is a very complicated thing to go through, i myself have struggled with some split personality issues which i'm still working through, but seeing videos like this is always just a push in the right direction. something to strengthen the resolve of people, whether they realize they need it or not. Male, female, we live in a time (when covid-19 ain't screwing everything up) that the lines between the two hardly matter. I am always looking for good people. honorable people with souls that are great and those that genuinely care for others. its a trait that can be a struggle to find, but I am happy that you were able to find your place in this world, no matter how complicated things may be. Keep being you Callie. You've been an inspiration to many (including me, i'm trying to start streaming actually) you will always have my support.

Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful video Callie. I too am transgender and personally I still struggle with the whole "Gaming is for boys" stereotype. Dysphoria is, really lovely... It does such a great job at making you feel fake that sometimes you struggle to know whats real. I still am struggling with a lot of things though such as my transition and how I haven't *always* felt this way. It was only recently that I realized I'm like this and seeing everyone else having that kind of feeling for so long is isolating. But it's so great to see other people come out and be proud of themselves. Thanks!

Okay this is a super sweet story. Also that Sonic 3D Blast flash back hit me hard, I know them feels. Sadly we didn't get a badass cat in Sonic until Blaze. But hey at least you knew she wasn't Sally unlike Sonic CD's manuel. Love the Metal Gear Amy joke, and why did they program that in?! But yeah this makes me want to share my own and give you a subscribe. As 31 year old boring male I still feel more connection to Tails then any of the "normal" choices for MAN to pick. Yup I was that little brother who played Tails a lot. My older sister and I shared the Genesis and yeah she got to use her older status to have more fun. Still his never give up mind set of trying to just help still suits me. I'm not big into bettering myself but I'm the kind of guy that when someone needs help or I think I can help I'm on my way. Video games got me through a rough lot of life. Its thanks to one friend getting me into JRPGs with Final Fantasy that I'm even able to write this. I'm dyslexic and super bad at reading at times, let alone writing. No books held my attention as a child [no comics sold in my small town], but cause I started gaming with Sonic 2 on the Genesis and few years later got a SNES I was used to games and when my friends started talking about stories in Final Fantasy and other things I wanted to take part. So the might wizard Golbez of FF 2/4 I saw as Godzilla cause it was a long word starting with Go and had a Z in there. Yeah that's how bad I was as a child. Games also got me through a rough......7 or so years of bullying. Somehow the local kids got into their heads that in grade 4 or 5 I was gay and if you even sat near me you would catch the gay too. I didn't know was gay was until grade 6 when I saw an episode of the Simpsons at an uncle's place. Asked my folks but my dad used the old timey answer of happy. So until like grade 11 no one wanted to be near me cause I was gay or slow or whatever they wanted to call me. But I always had video games, even when I had little to no friends I had a little buddy in Tails, or could rename characters in most JRPGs to be names of the few friends I had or even pretended they where my pals. By the time I got to grade 12 I had a sense of pride that I went through hell and came out the other side. I came to understand that had I actually been gay my small town at the time would have really destroyed me so I became an ally. People in town still see me as who they thought I was even though just last year my girlfriend and I bought our own place. But I try to learn from my past, when I hear my coworkers talking about their kids being bullied I can explain that sometime escapisms like games, books or whatever can be grand to keep them together. Yeah I know a long rant here but well your warm fuzzy and rather funny vid got me typing. And sometimes I'm so scared to put my thoughts down cause well the internet is a mean place and even scarier when you as super bad at writing both spelling and grammar wise and sometimes I worry my spell check is just going to burst into flames crying and cry in the corner from how much I over work it. But yeah we don't pick our heroes but Amy has got to be one of the better ones to have, though the hardest part of going back to her part in Adventure 1 isn't the acting, isn't the story, isn't the game play those are all pretty good. Its the camera and how the game makers handled her skirt.

I think you'll find a lot of kids were like this. Alone at lunch, nerdy, bullied with conflicting thoughts. Dont worry i am that age but I think I've got it all figured out... kind of... still have some confusion in my head but I just pay no attention and wait for when it's easier to determine.
Yes I'm still a nerd but I'm open about myself and I'm generally just a snarky sarcastic joker who is just WAY to hyped up on oxygen... I'm an outcast yeah but the further from the boat you are the better fish you'll find. This video is one of my favorites. Even a year later, I love watching it and hearing you speak passionately about your love for Amy and how she influenced you. It made me reconsider Amy as a character and I want to try a Sonic game now (I grew up with Mario). Speaking of Mario, while I am not trans (I think), your feelings towards Amy reminded me of how I am with Princess Daisy. Just like Amy, she is an idol for me and is my all-time favorite video game character. I hope to be as confident, energetic, and happy as she is some day. Daisy was the first "tomboy" I met, and taught me it was ok to not be girly. She stuck with me, like how Amy stuck with you, and I always hope she's in the next game. Anyway, I know this is super late and no one will see it, but I wanted to let my feelings out. Happy Pride month!
Edit: "I am not trans." THAT AGED HORRIBLY HAHA

I first played Sonic Adventure 1 in 2018 and well, I think it’s one of the games that aged the worse. When I got to Amy’s story, I was actually genuinely stuck on the first level, and by that time, I was probably around 13 or so, which meant I didn’t really have any excuses other than I was kind of dumb. Overall, I didn’t like her story that much, but I’m glad to see you were able to get something good out of it. I was definitely a “button masher” kid so I never got much out of games story wise as a child, but now, it’s important to realize the story of a game is one of the most important parts of the whole thing

I’m so glad this video is finally out. It’s really nice to hear your story, how this all came about and just your overall journey. You have to be careful about people saying your dead name though, trust me, I’ve made that mistake multiple times with my best friend and it didn’t end up too well, but we’re over it now and him and I are best friends again! All I have to say is Trans Rights! *NO TRANSPHOBIC PEOPLE IN THIS HOUSEHOLD*

They always make me happy, because people come out.
But sometimes they make me angry because of how they where/are treated.

This video is super relatable! The first and only Sonic game I played was Sonic Heroes when I was just a little child, I didn't finish any of the stories but I ended up coming back to and playing Amy's side of the story a lot, not only because the game was easier for me given how the length of all the levels was cut in half but also because I thought the characters were funny, especially Big The Cat. Amy was my favourite to control of the group since she wasn't as fast as Sonic but her need for speed like her crush was addicting, not only that but I thought her weapon of choice, being a hammer was really cool, that and the colours they chose for her design were really appealing (Red and Pink). But I had no idea that Amy had such an incredible personality until watching this video and simply put, I felt dumbfounded that I was this blind to Amy's true potential. I think I like Amy more than Sonic, the main character of the franchise, probably even one of my favourite video game characters. Too bad she was so underutilized and treated as a crush to Sonic than anything else
*EDIT:* I just realized that Kirby and Amy have a lot of similar attributes, both are cute but deadly, both can use hammers effectively, both have the same colour palette, no wonder I love these 2 so much

i found your channel thanks to pokemon, but i noticed that you played other games that i likes too! i never played sonic games, but listening to you talking about this, and watching you play srb2 kart makes me want to do it too! people joke about trans rights al the time, or sexualities and as a lesbian, it triggers me too. we’re all glad you stood up to yourself, and took motivation from your favourite sonic character.
some people just don’t realise that video games CAN change peoples lives.

Sadly cant express that much with this pandemic and all..... but never the less i owe it to sonic that he changed me for the better kinda like you Callie. Wish you the best and keep up the great work.

Also, I'm with you on the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It's only good for meme material nowadays (including the grrrrreatest meme, Pingas), but it was one of the two shows I watched, the other being the first 3 episodes of Sonic X, which I thought were badass. It was these shows that showed me that Sonic was a pretty cool, speedy dude. Also, there was that Sonic Christmas Special on VHS... Where Sonic becomes the next Santa... Eh.

Honestly. I ever though that you were a Boy because of the voice. But now i think about it...That explains alot of things! And the video was very interesting! (even that i might not understand everything because i'm a baguette french guy.) And...Yeah, i don't know what to say, it's 3 AM at where i am right now lol. Anyways uh...It's okay for being a Transgender, and You are perfect the way you are, whatever the kind of people, if the person is "ugly" or "beautiful" or whatever the type of words to "represent/judge the human being" (which are the terms that i kinda hate because of my past, y'know, social things, the concept of love, ect...). Anyways, i think i'll gotta go back to "the real world", good continuation for your videos, and don't worry, you are perfect the way you are.

Whoever disliked this video better square up, I'm gonna fight.
Legit though, this is such a touching story and honestly makes me see Amy, a character I've honestly disliked quite a bit, in a totally new light.
Kinda makes me wonder where I started questioning my own gender, to be honest, and if there were any similar inspirations for my own transition.

As a transgender myself (him to her), this video is beautifully done. I'm glad you were able to find comfort in Amy. I feel like she's really hated nowadays because of how she's depicted in modern media. I personally got a similiar feeling with Cynthia from the fourth generation Pokémon games. A strong independent woman with the title of being the title of champion throughout the entire region which really inspired me. Overall i'm happy the way things happened.

This is such a cute video, and the art here is so adorable.
Very interesting story - I'll admit, when my friend linked me this video I felt a little weird because after the first ~5 minutes, I was feeling super dysphoric. Trans people have different experiences, but I guess I wish I had known I was a girl when I was younger? Or had a female character to attach to?
Like, I only started to appreciate female Sonic characters like Blaze after I realized I was trans, and remembering my childhood and how "cool" and "edgy" I was trying to be at the time irks me.
I'm a huge Sonic fan, so I'm so glad the Sonic games helped you through you with being trans.

this is the same way i feel about pokemon! May is a character that went through a lot of development in the anime and in the end became a really formidable trainer.
May is also a playable character in the games. It gave me high hopes that I can also be strong too and like pokemon.
