When you showed the parking brake switch, does that mean for this model configuration it does not have a manual brake pull beside drivers seat right side?

Would you know if you can connect such a system to the stock 8" view screen if you have the added option? I'd love to get it if it had allowance for the 3rd party cameras... Very helpful review either way. Thanks for sharing...
Hey Owen! As far as I know the Sync4 screen doesn't allow for an aftermarket camera system to be used in it. But the 2022 Transit has the option for the 360 camera directly from the factory. Did you have option 61D added to your build? If you didn't add in that option call your dealer and get them to do it before it enters production!
@@CarsWithSteve Wow, thanks Steve! We were working off the 2021 build and price interface so the 360 view camera option never came up. I'll be calling tomorrow to see about getting that option added. I like to have the ability to see what's going on outside without having to actually go outside. 3. I want to be able to see what's going on around the van when I am away from it via internet. Other than that, no real reason...
I second what TurboFlush suggested. The Crew van would be perfect. It’s 2 in the 1st row and 3 in the 2nd row. There are a number of upfitters that could add in a 2nd row aftermarket as well
Thanks for the info it was nowhere to be found in manual or online. Not being totally adjustable both parts is a big MISS for Ford, even RAM Promaster‘s are totally adjustable top and bottom sections on passenger and driver side
The order guides have the crew van as available awd for the 2022.. the dealer order codes for the medium roof are: 150 Regular/Long - E2D 250 Regular/Long - R2D 350 Regular/Long - W2D My guess is that the online configurator doesn't have all the available options listed yet. But a Ford dealer will recognize those body order codes If you don't need the seats you could look at the standard cargo van. But you can always have an upfitter add in aftermarket seats
You might think this is crazy but I'm either getting a high-roof Transit 250 4WD or the new Nissan 400Z. I could live in the Transit. Save the money wasted on rent and buy the 400Z also hmmmm
Honestly.. I don't think that's crazy at all. With house prices where I'm from jumping to close to $1,000,000 for a semi detached it's tempting to look at a tiny home or home on wheels as an option. Even if you spent $50k on a new van and $20k to upfit you could probably still sell it to close to that in a few years and save on rent in the mean time
Your not going to be able to run heaters in sub zero conditions from batteries or solar. Many commercial users desire diesel for the mileage, lower maintenance costs as well as being able to tap into the fuel tank auxiliary outlets to use the Espar or Webasto cabin heaters. They are making these vans now as play toys and recreation and are not meeting the needs of professional drivers.
@@CarsWithSteveThere is a gasoline version of the Espar offered for around 2800 bucks. The diesel version comes in at 1500 to 1800 bucks. You can opt for the Chinese version cheaper but they are junk. Buyer beware.
@@CarsWithSteve All of these brands including Nissan and Toyota offer these vans in other markets with small, powerful diesel options. Only in the U.S. do these manufacturers ignore the consumers wishes, always with some lame excuses as to why the can't meet the market needs. Nissan bailed out of the van market because they refused to bring in the NV 400. Ford bailed too on the diesel. The NV400 would have been a home run for that failing company.

@@CarsWithSteve Electric might be ok for wealthy coastal hipsters and van dwellers with time on their hands but it won't cut it for those using them for real work in adverse conditions. These are used for high priority delivery and emergency response units like ambulances and first responders. Again the battery technology isn't up to the task. Not yet, maybe never. And you can be sure that idea won't fly on other continents where they are already enjoying the splendid offerings we are not allowed to have .
@CarsWithSteve It looks like android Auto takes up the full screen and less unwanted "bloat". With sync 4, there are large areas taken up by nothing and stuff I dont want displayed on the screen. And it seems they dont let you customize the look and layout nearly enough to not bother me. I also like how sync 3 has more physical buttons and knobs. But I still ordered a 2024 with sync 4 because I wanted the 360-Degree Cameras and some other features only available on Sync 4. I hope I get used to it but this is will be my first vehicle with a modern screen and im pretty positive Its going to drive me crazy.. ha ha In perfect world it would be a non touch screen. Everthing is controled with physical buttons/knobs. With a minimalist UI lots of customization on looks /layout, and dark mode is black not blue. Im sure ill have more suggestions after Ive lived with it a while
Well thought out! You'll definitely get used to it, especially if you can spend some time getting used to the voice commands. Being able to control climate using your voice is great once you get the hang of it. I've always found it odd how the screens in most manufacturers can't be customized.. At least being able to adjust the icon layout or widgetize things would make them so much nicer. Think you'll end up liking the screen.. and with the 360 camera.. great call!

Several reasons to NEVER by a Ford Cargo Van. 1. Auto Start/Stop (This feature is so annoying plus you give me an off switch but reset it each time the Van turns off, how irritating is that!) 2. No push button start option. 3. No Keyless Entry Option 4. No keyfob option for remote start. 5. Excessive micro-managing of the HVAC system. I am going to buy a Mercedes Cargo Van. Dear Ford, why can't I have these options to outfit my Ford Cargo Van? All of these options are available on the passenger version of these vans. I guess I am going to have to buy a Mercedes Cargo Van.

Intelligent Access (keyless entry) with Push Button Start is an option across all models except the cutaway Transit 3. See answer #2 4. Hah thanks! Yeah that was one of the few things I noticed after the video was edited. Once the 2022's start rolling onto lots I'm doing a whole series on it
Wish I saw this vid before I ordered mine, I would have made some changes.
If yours hasn’t been serialized you should still be able to make changes to it. The factory might accept other changes as well depending on what you’re adding. Check with your dealer!
Nice job on that.
Thanks!
lol @5:50 you know.... if you are bringing windows underground... you might not want the tall roof. HAHAHAHA
Hah that's a good point. I think I'll add that recommendation into my 2022 video
Great job with this video. Ford should hire you.
Thanks Carlos! That would be amazing hah - one day
When you showed the parking brake switch, does that mean for this model configuration it does not have a manual brake pull beside drivers seat right side?
That's correct - it's an electronic parking brake in the vehicle
Is transit cargo 250 148wb long and 350 148wb extended long? And both 250 and 350 offer high roof?
In the 2022 model the 250 and 350 are available in the long and extended with a high roof available for each!
@@CarsWithSteve what's the diff between 250 and 350 if they can have the same length/roof, is it just the gvwr/payload?
@@mathalwaysii Exactly! GVWR for the 250 is 9,070 lbs and 350 maxes out at 11,000 lbs
5;52 " if your going underground, you may want a medium roof" underground where?
Parking.. deliveries?
I need same vane but not duly and 8-10 speed
check with your Ford dealer! They might have incoming inventory that isn't sold yet. Most likely going to have to put in a factory order for a 2023 though
How is it we only get the 2.0lt or 2.2lt version in Australia? A V6 would be an amazing option.
And yes ours are diesel and although lack in KW department they do have some good torque but an ecoboost V6 would be nice.
Most likely emission standard differences between North America and Australia
Excellent!!! Thank you.
You're welcome!
Amazing review!
Thanks so much!
Can u drive commercial vans on parkways in New York ?! I heard that some parkways u can’t ! Anyone knows more about that ? Thank u
There are some parkways in New York that have restrictions for commercial vehicles - check this out
www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/parkway-restrictions.shtml
yes, I like it.
Wait until you see the 2022 models :P
Just ordered a 2022 4 days ago. I opted out of the larger viewscreen because I need to add a 360 view camera system.
I am still waiting for the final quote so it is not too late. Thank goodness I found your great review and inquired! 😀
@@owenparker6651 You're welcome and great call asking! The 2022 also has Ford's new Sync4 system that supports wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play and is available fully electric
Why do you need a 360 camera?
@@williamryan7403 1. No windows in the van so it will help driving in heavy, multilane traffic, a bit. 2. I like to have the ability to see what's going on outside without having to actually go outside. 3. I want to be able to see what's going on around the van when I am away from it via internet.
Other than that, no real reason...
This isn't in eau claire Wisconsin is it?
It's not.. I'm just outside of Toronto, Ontario! But now you have me curious about eau claire
Need this with a second row seating
Configure it.
Crew/cargo might be good for you.
I second what TurboFlush suggested. The Crew van would be perfect. It’s 2 in the 1st row and 3 in the 2nd row. There are a number of upfitters that could add in a 2nd row aftermarket as well
How do you adjust the bottom side mirror? Searched everywhere even manual and nothing there… is only the top bigger side mirrors adjustable?
The large part of the mirror is power adjustable from the inside while the mini smaller mirror is manual adjust only
Thanks for the info it was nowhere to be found in manual or online. Not being totally adjustable both parts is a big MISS for Ford, even RAM Promaster‘s are totally adjustable top and bottom sections on passenger and driver side
@@john4185 It is weird that Ford doesn't have that listed online or in any order guide. Hopefully something they address in a future model
Nice 👍🏻
Thank you 🙏
Note: There is only 400 lbs payload cap difference between 150 & 250. Please correct if needed.
The payload is the difference between the 2 and you gave me an idea for a future Transit video!
I'm trying to build a 2022 transit and it doesnt seem the crew is offered in awd, which medium height roof is offered in awd?
The order guides have the crew van as available awd for the 2022.. the dealer order codes for the medium roof are:
150 Regular/Long - E2D
250 Regular/Long - R2D
350 Regular/Long - W2D
My guess is that the online configurator doesn't have all the available options listed yet. But a Ford dealer will recognize those body order codes
If you don't need the seats you could look at the standard cargo van. But you can always have an upfitter add in aftermarket seats
@@CarsWithSteve thank you, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something on line
@@RoyboyBean You're welcome! There's always one or two random configurations or options missing from the build and price
Even if you spent $50k on a new van and $20k to upfit you could probably still sell it to close to that in a few years and save on rent in the mean time
No diesel or Espar cabin heater as an option?
No diesel as an option but people upfit these things with solar panels and lithium batteries to run heaters/fridges etc
@@CarsWithSteve Then there is GM's failure to field a high roof extended van even though they have two proven, best engines in the 6.6 V8 and the stellar Isuzu designed 2.8 inline diesel. Both available in the 30 year old Express platform. Another dim witted marketing crew failing to meet the moment. Their CEO is doing her best to drive the company into the ground.
Can I get swivel seats with power?
The swivel seats are manual moving only in the 2022 model
@@CarsWithSteve Can the after market ones be installed with a power seat?
I think the manual seat can be pumped up for a higher position.
@@277kne I'm sure you'd be able to find an upfitter that can do that, it would just need to be wired in
@@CarsWithSteve Thank you for replying. After some research I've learned that a 2021 Transit can get an electronic brake. No more hand brake. Don't think the swivel is available with power. Will check with the dealer. Sometimes they can do it or know of an aftermarket supplier that can.
@@277kne Appreciate you dropping back to let people know of the solution you've come up with as well! Hope you're able to find an upfitter for the power swivel seat
There all good when new will still reliable after a couple years
Depends on how well it’s maintained.. was it overloaded during use etc. They can last if they’re taken care of
I recently purchase 2021 430E
Is there a way where we can use backup camera while driving forward. since its a cargo Van, its kind of hard to look through the small given window, or sometimes its all blocked with goods.
I recently encountered the system hang where screen was not responsive, and when i put in reverse, camera goes on and stays on while driving frwd too.
No way to do that through factory software unfortunately. You could look at some aftermarket camera options
Our delivery vans for amazon have aftermarket rear view cams that stay on while the vehicle is on. Very convenient and worth it.
No phones.. Because when you close the door it will get crushed.
Its just a strange storage pocket. Keep whatever in it lower than the pocket lip.
Ohh interesting, thanks for pointing that out!
@@CarsWithSteve probably an engineer or designers joke.
Whenever i finally get a transit.. I will dissect it and see if i can find a purpose.
@@turboflush Would be interested in knowing what you find!
its good but sprinter has better demesions and wheelbase
Different options for wheelbase and dimensions based on low, medium or high roof. Haven't been able to jump into the Sprinter yet but it's on the list for 2023!
Your in Canada. Canadian vans are different and have different options than American vans.
Some different options and choices but configurations (high, medium, low roof, vehicle lengths etc are the same)
I've got a different style video I'm planning for the 2022 models when they start showing up that'll outline some more differences between the 2
Really, what are the different options between the USA/CAN. models.
@@CarsWithSteve Great. I can not wait to see them.
@@davehalpenny1368 In Canada there's a weight rating downgrade package, protection packages, AC prep, engine block heater is included (optional in USA). Those are the ones that comes to mind right now
Yes, thanks for the reply Steve. Im in Canada( Uxbridge Ontario) Ford website is decently clear but does not list the vehicles that are available with dual wheels. My local dealer recently brought in a 'SPECIAL ORDER' Transit 350 AWD EL dually. Ok but can a dually be had 147'' WB but not EL?. Can a dually be ordered 147"WB with medium roof?. I want the dual wheels but the van i described above was too much van, so I either go non EL or medium roof. Can it be done? Thanks Steve. New subscriber.
Price and down payment
Depends on how you have it built out! Full details are in the description but at the time this video was posted the van was: $59,769 Canada / $52,475 USA
Some finance contracts don't need a downpayment, while others (usually people/business with lower credit) will need to put some cash down
'Going under ground' ?
Yeah.. we have underground parking here that people use
@@CarsWithSteve ahh ok
No diesel?
Unfortunately not - the vans are starting to go electric so I doubt there ever will be a diesel option in a future Transit
I thought the batteries were under the driver's seat? So for 2021 they're in the engine compartment?
That's right the 12v battery is under the driver's seat and the battery boost is under the hood! Did I say under the hood for the batteries?
Sync 3 looks nicer UI than sync 4...
Functionality in Sync4 is better.. but is it just the graphics that you aren't a fan of?
@CarsWithSteve It looks like android Auto takes up the full screen and less unwanted "bloat". With sync 4, there are large areas taken up by nothing and stuff I dont want displayed on the screen. And it seems they dont let you customize the look and layout nearly enough to not bother me. I also like how sync 3 has more physical buttons and knobs. But I still ordered a 2024 with sync 4 because I wanted the 360-Degree Cameras and some other features only available on Sync 4. I hope I get used to it but this is will be my first vehicle with a modern screen and im pretty positive Its going to drive me crazy.. ha ha
In perfect world it would be a non touch screen.
Think you'll end up liking the screen.. and with the 360 camera.. great call!
If it were a little wider.
Could always look at a Transit cutaway and then build your own box on it...
7:10 Error: You're not going to lose your phone if you put it in the door pocket that says no phones, you're going to destroy it because it will get crushed by the dash panel when closing the door!!
Yeah someone pointed that out. I mean the new Samsung flip would fit but probably not a good idea either way
This verse is very informative and important to know.
Revelation 14:12

if you put your phone there you're gonna smash it when closing the door
The new Samsung Z Flip could probably fit :P
Man, you need to slow down a little, can't keep up with you
Working on it!
Why so many commercials? Almost unwatchable. Dial that back. Also quit waving your hands around so much. Distracting from an otherwise decent video.
They're typically spaced out every 8 mins or so - but noticed this one has a few weird intervals that will be updated. The hand waving definitely has gone away in videos since this!
You should probably check out the 2022 Transit Van specs...
1. Auto Start/Stop delete is possible when factory ordering a Transit
2. Intelligent Access (keyless entry) with Push Button Start is an option across all models except the cutaway Transit
3. See answer #2
4. Remote start is available as factory order option or you can get an aftermarket install that comes with a secondary remote start tile
5. How is the HVAC system micromanaged?
Plus.. have you compared the cost of ownership between regularly maintaining a Mercedes vs Ford van? Here's a useful owner breakdown of the cost of ownership for his fleet of Mercedes vans

You better spend some more time researching van options. I really wanted to buy a Sprinter, went withTransit for a gang of reasons. If you enjoy multiple dealer visits, underperforming diesel and 4wd equipment, then Sprinter is your van..
@@ceetrout3255 The Transit isn't available as a diesel... Strictly gas and new electric for the 2022 model year.

Unfortunately you can not even buy one because they stopped making them due to chip shortage. Called all over united states and NO ONE can get them. Ridiculous
Yeah it’s pretty wild how much the chip shortage has affected production. Ford has apparently been working on new chips so hopefully an issue like this won’t happen again.
Should start setting production ramp up on the 2022 models in the next few months though
