@chenson9587 pancake lenses don't work well with oled. They need to be super bright to overcome the light lost. There is currently no mass market production of these screens to see oled with pancake lenses from meta. Mini oled is available and relatively cheap and can be massed produced.
The Quest 3 is still going to be the better headset so if budget isn't a concern I'd just get the 3 now. The lite or S will really just be for people who want it cheaper or want to upgrade from the 2 but the lite looks like it will be much less comfortable and have less refined optics/screens.

So having had a "sim racing channel" in the past, Jay. It never occurred to me before hearing your comment that you made from the 2:39 min mark. And that is that META should be treating it the way you buy cars (brands) in real life. Simply meaning that they should (in car terms) have a BASIC / LUXURY / & SPORTS Models in VR Headsets. With the SPORTS in my own mind, being a FULLY TETHERED PC-VR Headset for all those dedicated Sim Racing & Flight Sim aficionado's out there in PC-VR land?. Your comment makes total sense to me, but will it end up making sense to META?. That is the big question???
@@kmouratidis I had a brain fart and forgotten the name. Thanks. But I've been interested since I've seen clunkier versions. I just hope they aren't too much.
Photo Kodak avatars are kinda creepy but I’m sure they will improve. I’m looking forward to you getting that studio set and getting the reviews (especially the charging docks!) out. Of course u got the unboxing knife so you should be set! 😅
Every tech manufacturer is releasing lite versions and it's doing extremely well market wise (evidence in the fact it continues to happen). Honestly you should be happy for a device with a lower barrier of entrance via price. Because that will lead to more Innovation and development in the VR field as a whole. If more people can get their hands on the latest generation and operating system that translates into more development. If you want the quest 3 to stay stagnant sure keep things how they are. If you want developers to receive more funding and develop higher quality product then get the product into more hands. Best way to do that is to offer a cheaper version
However people can't see that and every single UA-cam video that mentions the quest 3 Lite has somebody crying about it being a downgrade as though the product is meant to come out for them who already have the full version 🤡
@@tommyshadow66 It's a huge downgrade and doesn't help the VR community. VR headsets need to blow people away with what the technology can do and a lite version won't do that.
They need price tiers on their headsets. You need a budget to get people to try. That is why my first one will be a Pico 4. I will mostly be doing PCVR so I don't have to worry about the Pico 4 having a smaller library. If I am still doing VR in a year, I will look at more expensive headsets.
What I would like, something cheap for people who want to dip there toes into the world of VR (doesn't matter if it is Fresnel lenses), and something that can serve as an actual upgrade from the Quest 2. As in, something that can deliver the visual clarity of Quest 3 using much better lenses at a cost between the cheap one and the ludicrous Quest 3 price.
I don't know if Meta actually ever plans on dipping their toes into high end headsets. The Quest Pro was mid range headset and they've pretty much abandoned it and abandoned everything that was supposed to make it special because barely anyone purchased it. So going to an even further extreme would just be an obvious waste of money and resources for them. They cater to the peasants, skeptics, and casuals of the VR space and that is Meta's place in the VR world.
Well they were doing some design experimenting of having the screens move closer or farther away from your eyes to enhance depth perception. That was a while ago, so I'm not sure if they've given up on it or if it'll be part of the pro 2, but it is something that hasn't been seen in any other headset.
I just want them to make another OLED screened headset. Original Quest is really showing it's age now. I have my Beyond for PCVR but I'd like a new standalone for Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, 11TT and immersive UA-cam videos.
It looks like Samsung won't be doing a VR headset because Samsung unpacked on July 10th, and all the leaks have been out well for their watches, but there is nothing about VR, so my money will be going to the new Quest 3 Lite.
they aren't meant to be sold to average consumers. businesses bought it which is what they're meant for. it was just to put out a headset with experimental tech for artists and architects.

Hope they don't mess up the Pro 2 as they did the Pro.
it's not a consumer headset. you're not meant to buy it..
@@joogled1839 True but I bought it at $1000 for PCVR and its great for that.

The different price points in VR should just be:
• 150$
• 300$
• 500$

Hey Super!
I have never wanted the photo realistic avatar for quest. Cant see the Need for it. I use VR to escape reality not bring reality into it.
Releasing a Quest 3 Lite is going backwards. It's a waste of resources and money. The hardware needs to get better, not worse.
Thats why quest 2 exist right now

Is it just me or is the idea of recreating a 3D avatar of your face while having a big plastik block on your head kinda hilarious funny.
I don't think it's funny.
Autodesk Inventor VR when?
i really hope the codec avatar ends up looking like the showcase and not something completely different like what they did with metaverse

Yeah, seriously!! I remember people saying that the Quest 3 was expensive and Apple was like... hold my drink...
Other phones have great camera tech for stereoscopic media creation like Oppo, Samsung, and Sony.
The stylus looks great. Seems at least twice as expensive as it should be though. After all, a complete single controller for the Q3 is 75 bucks.
It's for professionals and committed hobbyists. Makes sense.
