    @Buy Two Way Radios - Great information and thank you for sharing. If I may ask a question, what mobile antenna would you recommend to pair with this radio? I am looking for maximum performance while driving on interstate roads. Thank you for all you do, and I look forward to your answer.

      There are are a number of UHF antennas in the GMRS frequency range that would work, although few of them besides the ones included with the MXT radios are tuned specifically for the GMRS. We are working to change that, and should have an alternative available soon.

    What I want to do is, be able to use say channel 22 as a talk around locally channel, but also channel 22 is used as a repeater channel in my area, so I like to set up another separate channel with the ability to use the repeater. It seems that the MXT 400 only has up to channel 22 with no room to set up both sides of channel 22, one with and one with a repeater. Is this a correct assumption? Is it keep it as a regular channel or keep it a repeater channel? Thanks.

    Now try talking Midland into separate tones for RX and TX. Also, how about throwing some channels in so frequencies can be customized.

      Midland is aware of the demand for GMRS radios with split tones. As for when they plan to offer one, we'll see. That's all we can tell you at the moment.

    I have an mxt400 and looking to set up a repeater station for GMRS in another location so that I can get over a hill. What unit do you suggest I buy as a repeater for GMRS use?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому

      It depends somewhat on what you are willing to spend. Repeaters can be rather expensive. However, there is now an alternative to the traditional repeater. The new Wouxun KG-1000G base/mobile radio has just arrived. This radio has the ability to be turned into a full-fledged repeater. This requires to units connected together, but it will allow you to create a repeater station, and for considerably less than a traditional repeater. www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-1000g.html You can hear all the details on this radio in the latest episode of The Two Way Radio Show Podcast. www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2020/12/twrs-153-new-wouxun-kg-1000g-gmrs-mobile-radio.html

      The GXT1000 is not repeater capable. However, the Wouxun KG-805G is repeater capable and has the repeater channels built in. It will pair well with the MXT400. Watch the KG-805G video to learn more. ua-cam.com/video/YloG74x6jlo/v-deo.html

    Mxt400 great radio, but can you turn off the alarm tone. not just select a different tone, but turn the damn thing off. i have hit the button several time sending that tone out on my local repeater.

    New to GMRS - I am trying to connect to a repeater station. The station operator has provided the following information: RX/TX Frequency and RX/TX tone. I believe I am tuned into the correct channel because i can hear traffic on the channel. However they cannot hear me. How do i input RX/TX as it relates to CTCSS/DCS? If anyone could provide a step by step it would be greatly appreciated.

    Does the Midland 400 allow the use of multiple repeater codes on a single channel. If I travel and need to use a different repeater that uses the same frequency as the repeater I already have stored, do I have to go in and change the code each time I want to change repeaters that share the same frequency?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  2 роки тому

      When coming across different repeaters that use the same frequency, you do not need to change the frequency assigned to the channel. However, you will need to manually change the CTCSS tone to that of the respective repeater you are trying to transmit to.

      Hello, thanks for your question. Are you referring to the regular GMRS channels or repeater channels? The MXT400 is already equipped with all of the GMRS channels, so there would be no reason to replace any.

      @@alexahedo85 There is a single pin data terminal on the front panel, but it isn't intended for the end user. According to Page 10 of the manual, "Data Terminal - not used in the MXT400".

      The MXT400 has the standard speakers expected from Midland mobile radios. However, if you find that you want an alternative to the default sound quality there are a number of add-ons in the "accessories" tab on our store page that should do the trick. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

    In the video @ 0:31 you have RP20 TX Frequency as 487.6750
    Shouldn't it be stated as 467.6750 MHz???? 🤔

    Is there an offset function on the MXT400?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  4 роки тому +1

      There is no offset because the TX and RX repeater frequencies are pre-assigned for the GMRS by the FCC.

    Why does Midland have such little manuals like secret decoder ring 💍 manuals out of a cereal 🥣 box 📦 at least they could make the manual about as big as the box the radio 📻 comes in! I would like to sit down and read it but it’s just to ridiculous!
