It was founded on March 4, 1125, located on the left bank of the Lima River, next to the bridge built by the Romans in the 1st century. According to historians, the birth of Ponte de Lima is closely linked to the birth of Portugal.

Foi fundada em 4 de Março de 1125, localizada na margem esquerda do Rio Lima, junto à ponte construída pelos Romanos no século I, Segundo Historiadores, o nascimento de Ponte de Lima está intimamente ligado ao nascimento de Portugal.
