Out of all the bespoke videos that I’ve seen on UA-cam, his technique is completely different from all the other videos, but surprisingly more interesting because the method is different doesn’t mean it’s wrong but how he does step to step compared to a factory or even a private shoemaker is different than any of the other videos that I’ve seen
It's great that we can see how are made things like this. Its shows as that the shoemaker is not just an simple craftsman, but a real artist! It would seem its are just a shoes, but its created like a work of art. I didn't realize how much talent, knowledge and precision it requires.
I'm happy that the customer asked for rubber sole protectors. It would be a shame for the shoe to wear out prematurely just because someone wanted to use them.
I agree. I use them on all my leather soled shoes. It really extends the life of the sole and makes them more practical while not sacrificing the nice look of the leather.
Absolutely incredible, I am blown away at how perfect and precise every single step was executed with. A dieing art being brought back to life, keep up the great work please!
I never really think about what goes into making something until I see it done. I don’t know why, but watching these talented fellas make shoes by hand has become one of my favorite relaxation activities. 👍💪💙
Another great job. I hope the wearer of those shoes treats them with great care. My mother in law who will be 90 made men shoes in a factory under the Colehan brand. She would talk about the different steps it would take to make 1 pair of shoes. It is great to see the process she talked about. Thank you for your dedication and sharing this video with all of us who watch them.
I always look forward to your videos coming up in my feed. Watching the process you go through to make the various shoe patterns is both enjoyable and interesting.
What I absolutely love about this, is that there is absolutely no theatrics, histrionics or overanimations. The whole video from start to finish is purely the actual content you click to see, the skill involved keeps you watching, there’s a video on here of a ‘traditional wet shave’ and you’d honestly think he’s auditioning for a Hollywood part in a movie, his actual skill is overshadowed by the ridiculous over acting and you lose interest. Absolutely love the skill here mr Kim, if I was a shoe wearing person I’d be getting in touch! Absolutely incredible work 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🥳
Thank you for the comment. Actually, I'm not a big fan of videos that insert sad piano background music. However, it seems like many people like that style of video. I personally believe that the natural sounds that occur during the work process are the best music. It's not easy to convey what I want to the viewers while working and filming alone, but I'll do my best. Thanks again for your comment.
@@TerryKimShoemaker you’ve got it absolutely perfect for me mate, as I said, your skills do the talking, there’s no need for the BS commentary on some of the videos, or the endless plugging of their sponsors halfway through the video, don’t change a thing my friend, if it ain’t broke…. 👌🏻
@Terry Kim's Shoe Making I've been learning so much about the process just by watching! I have some questions: how did you develop your skills? Were you formally trained or self-taught? How long did it take?

Does anyone know the name of the 2 tools that are used on the sole to create the wall for the jerk needle and holes? The 2nd one is around d the 10:46 time stamp
I currently make leather crafts as hobby and have a couple of tools with which I made some bags and wallets. Can I ask you where you took from your shoes forms(lasts) because I want to try to make my own shoes because you man just inspired me. You are an amazing artist and craftsman. It is amazing to see how raw material turns in something like this
Sir please tell me the proper name for or the terminology of when the lace eyelets of a shoe design starts of spaced apart at the vamp but as you go up toward the entrance of the shoe they gradualy come closer together (on a closed lace system) ?
Уважаемый Терри Ким, почему вы на 18:37 натягиваете пакет на обувь, для чего? Он же в конечном итоге останется в обуви и снять его будет проблематично.
Anybody know what the material he’s cutting at 25:18 for the sole is? I’ve always wondered. I’ve seen almost every show maker I’ve watched use this same stuff, and something else that looks like cork maybe? Is is just hardened leather of some sort?
First of all, thank you very much for watching my video and leaving a comment. The various things you are curious about are the basics that you would learn when you receive shoemaking education. I recommend that you acquire shoemaking skills through formal educational institutions instead of self-studying. It's a difficult question to explain through a comment.

Masterful. Incidentally, I had no idea until now that fudging (29:20) was more than just decorative.
Yes, that's correct. That process is also done for the durability of the shoes.

Hola. Chile es un lugar misterioso. Me gustaría visitarlo algún día. Muchas gracias por dejar un comentario.
I'm happy that the customer asked for rubber sole protectors. It would be a shame for the shoe to wear out prematurely just because someone wanted to use them.
The rubber soles were the option that the customer wanted. So we attached Vibram rubber soles.

What did you make the glue from. What is that you put in the pot on the stove at 14:45
I boil a mixture of potato starch and rice flour, but sometimes I also use woodworking glue.
What kind of pen do you use to mark those pattern?
I use a 4B pencil, ballpoint pen, and name pen, etc.
