Thank you. For such great videos of Florida,,, this is great,,,!let us know if you ever come to the coast,,, of Ms. Gulfport area,,, we do a lot around hear
Hello Nick, great video. Very nice queen. Nick, how could you ever get a bad review? You are the nicest person ever. Take care God Bless Alan&Maria can't wait to get down there again
I have recently subscribed and find your videos the most entertaining of the various fishing video options available on UA-cam. I live in The Bahamas (Grand Bahama), so videos on your various trips to the Bahamas are of particular interest to me, but the wide variety of locations visited and species targeted keep things interesting and make for enjoyable viewing. I also like to cook, so the cooking part of your videos are an excellent compliment to the on-the-water adventures. And, although my children are long since grown, I find the family atmosphere and the integral part your children play in the StanzFam videos to be an important part of why your videos stand out from the pack. That said, I must admit to having been disturbed by your stone crab catching videos. The information quoted below appears worded different ways and in a variety of places, but here is a quote from the Nassau Yacht Haven Marina Blog that sums up what I think of as the 'enlightened' attitude to the stone crab fishery: "Stone crab claws are one of the most expensive items of seafood you can consume. They are a delicious delicacy. Part of why they are so expensive is the cost of harvesting them is also very expensive. The process is time consuming and only one claw per crab should be taken at a time, although if both are of legal size, they can both be harvested. It would leave a crab with no means to defend itself, so hopefully those in the business, respect this. It takes approximately 3 years for a crab to grow a claw of legal size. Another reason for the price." (www.nassauyachthaven.com/blog/time-to-talk-about-crabs) There are stone crabs in The Bahamas, although there is no organised fishery for them of which I am aware. But sustainability is an issue for many fisheries (spiny lobster and conch in The Bahamas for instance). There is also the more humane issue of harvesting both claws and leaving the animal defenceless. What I found particularly disturbing in one of your videos was you catching a crab with only one claw - presumably caught previously by someone who followed the 'harvest only one claw' idea. But you proceeded to remove the one remaining claw, leaving this survivor of an unfortunate previous visit to a crab pot without the single claw someone else thoughtfully left him. FWIW, perhaps you should reconsider your harvesting process and leave the crabs you catch with a single claw - only half as many crab claws for your table of course, but happier crabs with a better chance to live and thus to reproduce, helping to sustain the fishery for the future. My thoughts anyway.
Great video Stanzfam! Beauty catch on that queen snapper! Also nice jinx on Landon’s catch. Lol. That sandwich looked so delicious. Thanks for sharing!!!
@@chris6054 Yes. Sarasota and we went out yesterday about 25 miles and caught some nice Red Grouper and lanes and mangs. We also had to send a couple 25-26 gags back since we only seem to get them out of season.
@@StanzFam I went to a Benny Ortiz Shimano event class on spj and I was literally hooked on it. Technique wise don’t crank on the lift or drop, crank then lift, let it drop…. Do it again
When using a slow pitch stick, don’t pump. Aim the stick towards the fish and steady grind. Let the parabolic stick do what it was designed to do and you’ll lose less fish. 🤙🏾
Hey Stan ! Have you been busy and slow getting video's out. Reason why I ask ! I haven't seen you online lately, unless I miss some video's with me working a lot more. Nice Queen ! Bright orange/ red. Hope you have a great year on the water.
We’ve put 6 people on it swordfishing multiple times. The weather plays a role in the comfort level of everyone, some people. Might say 4 people is best but I think 4-6 is fine.
Hey Nick, how far do you run to get to 600 feet of water? Here in the Mid-Atlantic, 600 feet doesn't exist until you hit the Canyons which is a 90 mile run one way at minimum.
Sold out of the 20 conventionals we got but there’s a couple spinners left. The manufacturer made them a little longer than they were suppose to be , but still the same blank. I have more on order but not telling when they will come in
Quick question lots of talk about right hand reels or left I've always fished with eyelets up and crank on right if the crank was on left I turned rod over then it was a right am I wrong
Conventional reels usually face up and the guides are typically facing up, but some of the newer rods have spiral wrapped guides, the first guide is straight up and the tip will be straight down, with the guides inbetween spiraling down the blank. Conventional reels are most right handed but some are left. Spring reels usually face down and the guides will be down on the rod, the handle can be on any side, but usually on the left as the right hand of a person is usually the stronger arm.
Having your line go slack while dropping a spj never gets old! It’s so different from any other kind of bite! I literally have 3 spj set ups just so I won’t have to tie an FG knot on the water, lol!
ya did good when are your girls going to get into ripping lips and showing you and sarah up catching toadies or whatever. I enjoyed it y'all stay safe and healthy. Does Sarah have her own youtube taking people out crabbing and such? I'll catch ya on the next video bye for now.
I get bummed losing $3.99 jig heads in the mangroves, can’t imagine saying goodbye to $150 worth of tackle in an afternoon. I guess that’s fishing though.

@@StanzFamHello. I wanted to touch base with y’all about a 23.3 seater craft it’s a 79 open sports porter haul.
GOGGLEYE VIDEO!
LOL, he was on the Nick stick!!!
😀
So good you can jig upside down and still catch fish haha.
Hahahaha , I may have got lucky but I’m guessing with the light current that day it didn’t really matter

I have slowed down on the videos and fishing. Hopefully will be able to keep to one video a week starting later this spring
what line did you use for that first red snapper ?
15 lb Berkeley pro spec braid
Nick Stick Rod, looks like it would be fun in Virginia on these 40-60lb Cobia when they run the Chesapeake Bay Bridge late summer.
That would be a battle!
@@StanzFam Let’s try it lol. I have a “rat rod” I use now and then. It’s a small ugly stick with lighter tackle. So fun.
NIck, how many adults can fish comfortably on the Freeman 28 for 5-7 hours? Thanks for answering! Love the vids!

Nick, do a fishing video on Sallow Sports 32. Please.
Maybe one day! I’d like to ride on it for sure

who need a huge giant rod, when you have that tiny needle stick.

No pumping and winding on slow pitch rods! Just put the tip down and crank.
