  • Tuesday, September 13, 2022 - 56 shelter dogs, some of which are heart worm positive, are airlifted from New Orleans to Morristown Airport and then driven to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Morristown, where they can receive medical treatment and be placed in homes. This happens through Greater Good Charities Flights Program, which moves vulnerable dogs from overcrowded under-resourced shelters in the South up to shelters in the northeast where they have more resources The heartworm treatment is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health.

Bless them such amazing work to save all these babies… I wish more people would be compassionate and adopt a homeless animal 💕

Yes but I wonder why do we have to pay to adopt a pet that needs a home

Because many more consider the dogs part of the furniture, and when things get tight, they're discarded. I have 3 rescue dogs. Also, the animals are likely posted online and in local newspapers for anyone expressing interest . As do "why do we have to pay" there are several reasons. It costs to house, feed and have a vet care for them. Additionally, there are some that would snag a free dog to use as a bait dog to train fighting dogs. Sad but true. Many rescues also do home visits and check vet references before releasing a dog that has been rescued to avoid the dog having another horrible experience.

@@kavonamccoy975 that's because the people who run these shelters are making money. You would not believe that some of these people are getting cars, money and it's a tax shelter! My son was running a shelter for minimum wage. He was only getting paid for 40 hours but he was putting in 80 plus hours per week while the board members weren't working hardly any hours but making the money. It's a bunch of bull shit!

It takes money to care for the animals and fuel etc. Expenses continue after adoption.

@@kathrynkimbrough4244 understandable but we still have to provide for the pet as well as our family so with that being said it still will cost us money once the animal is in our care
