Nirvana - "Swap Meet" - 1992-06-27 - [Custom 2-Cam/TaperAudio] - Kansanpuisto - Turku, Finland

- Custom 2-Cam + AUD1 mix of Nirvana's last performance of "Swap Meet". The song (from their first album "Bleach") was a live rarity. According to setlist.fm it was only played 6 known times all in 1992 with this being the final performance.
Processed two rough VHS sources of this (AMT1b & AMT 2 - VOBBs) along with AUD1 (FLAC) then created this mix. Hopefully an enjoyable watch.

This is valuable footage of the most underrated song on Bleach
What? Yes underrated song. But never on Bleach.
@@egierzal2184 holy shit. My bad 🤦♂️. Your comment was completely correct. Some how I read the comment as Spank Thru. I had watched Spank Thru right before and got confused.

One of their best songs. Along with a few off of insecticides

what an unusual riff. sounds futuristic, inverted, fantastic!
This is a legend!
Good point. Kurt's riffs and melodies feel so natural and easy that I often don't notice how clever they are.
truth this
Always loved Swap Meet. Good job!

You again? >:v jk

Man this version sounds so fucking badass, even better than the album
Agree... Sounds badass with Dave on drums
0:22 Um Brasileiro na multidão ❤🇧🇷
This is really cool to see them playing a less popular song off bleach even after they got super famous. Just proves that they’re not sellouts.
I mean, yeah, but they were only playing it to promote the new versions of Bleach with Big Cheese and Downer, which the original pressings didn't have.
They were sell outs
@@prpwnage9296 they kinda were but they never wanted to be this huge
@@Owen-ne6pe sell outs is good. They sold out of records in all of the shops :)
@@featheryfemme if they were playing those songs to promote the new pressings of bleach, wouldn’t they play big cheese and downer?
Perfect BLEACH is so good! d best love it! THX! Kurt you are my friend forever.
Why didn’t they play this more often? Lounge act and some others too.. never got played enough
I've always seen this song as a companion to Lounge Act... would work really well next to each other on a set.
It feels like a vocally draining song.
Bc it was hard and kinda annoying to play during the main riff
@@Stayaway234Hell no this song is so much fun to sing and play at the same time, one of my favorite nirvana songs just for that purpose

Huge nirvana fan here, I know like 80% of their songs by heart though there are a few I never really dove into, usually when I listen to bleach, I stop at scoff (huge mistake I’ve been making for years). Anyways, I discovered swap meat last night and now I’m in love with it
Geez, I never thought one day I'd see this song live. Thanks for the upload!
This is my favorite version of Swap Meet ever. Better than the studio version imo.
great song, I love it.

That solo lmao. His solos always make me laugh, in a good way.

Fucking genius riff. To Kurt it was a piece off pss cos he wrote it, but try playing this and singing at the same time. It's mental and really hard!
Yeah Courtney once said she tried asking Kurt why he thought his music sucked when it's actually amazing. He was like a jaded junkie genius of music and artist. Would be cool if he was still around. Even if he didn't play music anymore.
I’ve been a Nirvana fan since i was 15 and this is the first time I hear Swap Meet live, great!
Thanks so much! You're work on this is much appreciated.
Great to see and hear, this is the only time I've seen it in video. I've heard another live version from the pre-Nevermind era, it was from a show where record label execs were at.
Great job as usual Copperpot5! Thanks for posting.
Thank you. 1k x thank you for uploading and keeping it up.
dang they played my favorite song (which they rarely played) in my home country, thats awesome!!
Love to hear the crowd singing verses!

This made my day. Thank u!
favorite band, favorite song, favorite country, it's just gorgeous
"She loves him more than she will ever show, he loves her more than she will ever know . . ."
awesome to see this played in '92, they stopped playing it live after nevermind released
Awesome...these are the treasures I seek out now that 99.9% of their studio sessions have been released. Even as an old USENET tape trader, I have an incomplete 20 minute version of the first part of this concert, and the quality makes it unlistenable. For an audience recording, this sounds amazing. Thanks for posting.
I have tried for the last 6 years to become a member of the livenirvana.com forums and whenever I go to sign up, no matter which email address I used (even my work email with full name), the confirmation message never came through and I just gave up. I just tried again, and STILL no confirmation email, so I'm an experienced lurker.
"Back in the day", the thrill of coming home to a huge envelope with a VHS tape from another collector was almost euphoric. These were the days when I was using 14.4 and 28.8 dial-up, 1992 through 1997. Out of my entire collection, all the audio I have has already been released via KTS, Small Clone, and other "pro" bootlegs as well as the official releases. I still think you can't beat some of the artwork and liner notes on those CD boots, especially KTS releases. I also bought the 5-CD Into The Black boxset, which contained SBD (not FM) Reading 92 and the 91 Paramount show way before those were even unofficially released on other labels. I scanned everything in the booklet and copied the CDs to CD-R (eventually to FLAC), so it's in pristine condition on display behind glass doors, along with t-shirts and other CDs. It's a small Nirvana shrine.
I thought I had some rare stuff that hadn't made it to YT or most torrent sites, until I came across the all-encompassing mega nz page (message me if you don't have the link), which rendered any of my old VHS, cassettes and surviving CD-Rs obsolete. I would have never thought the holy of holies would just one day be accessible to anyone with an internet connection. No torrent, actual MP3 and FLAC files are downloadable directly from the site, and it's got anything and everything I ever hoped to come across. You're very generous with your collection, as am I - I hated that element of collector culture. There are still people who think they're hoarding gems until I provide a link to a 9 year-old UA-cam video. Hit me up, I'll inventory everything I've got (been meaning to do that anyway); there may be a small chance that I have something that's not out there already.
Are you taking any requests? I would love to see you working your magic on the pennyroyal tea performance they did in Toronto at the opera house in 1991.
PBR Streetgang, Could you give me the link to the nz page?
Rare!
This song makes so much more sense with DG on kit.
I love the feverish swirling feeling this riff/song gives me, it is a love song after all if im not mistaken
Thanks for the video
His music always had a nice energetic vibe that can never be duplicated.
One of my favorite Bleach songs! I love this album 🔥
Amazing!

@@BoxxyBoi ahh my bad
I don’t know what it is but there is something about the tone of Kurt’s guitar that is so fucking badass!
He really knew guitars and equipment.
@@sabbracadabra8367 lmao, a Boss DS-2, Small clone chorus, and a Japanese stratocaster with a humbucker in the bridge. Not that fancy
@@bigdawg6308 I never said it was fancy I said he knew his gear because he really did. He had lots of guitars and pedals and amps, he knew Iron Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, and EVH's gear inside out. And yet he knew the same for Bob Mould, Pixies, etc. In the end he knew exactly what gear he wanted over lots of things. Don't try to downplay it because you are nothing.
@@sabbracadabra8367 I'm not downplaying Kurt Cobain. I think he is a unique and special player. Some of the songs on Bleach are insane to play epically live while singing. His main gear was Boss DS1 and Boss DS2 but he used the DS2 as his DS1 because his DS1 broke. He used a big muff and small clone chorus pedal. In the late 80s these were very cheap and until Kurt became symbolic for the pedals that's when their price went up. The gear was cheap back then and unclassy. I only like them because of what Cobain did with them.
Danm, this tone is so good
He's just a songwriting grungy rocker. My first time hearing this one. Immediately love it.
This is incredible he played this
Novoselic.....definitely The Most UnderRated Bassist of All Time. I love Kurt but without those Novoselic grooves, fuck...I dont know
True. Kurt was a talented man who wrote amazing songs, but without Krist, Nirvana wouldn't have even come close to working.
@@featheryfemme they had a connection... was them two from the beggining
Danny Leech Nirvana-wise and/or life-wise, yes. Music-wise, no. Music-wise, it was Kurt, Dale Crover, and Greg Hokanson in the beginning. They made the Fecal Matter demo tape, which Kurt showed to Krist, and because of Spank Thru, Krist decided to start Nirvana with Kurt (under a different name, obviously.)
@@featheryfemme thank god they didn't stick with "Fecal Matter" lmfao
I love Nirvana and Krist, but Ryan Martinie of “Mudvayne” is hands down one of the best bass players alive.
It surprises me that no matter how old the song has been for Kurt or how much time has passed... he has never forgotten the lyrics to his songs... (Of course, unless it was a strange or new song...)
This is pure gold.
i wish they played more bleach songs in the last years of nirvana, epic version of Swap Meet

AlrenativeCopperpot5, and you can publish the entire Nirvana concert in Finland on June 27, 1992 (in the matrix version, or by overlaying quality audio tracks in the video file, if that is possible!) (Nirvana can be in the interests of Russia, but, unfortunately, this did not happen, they must be in 1994 in Slovenia!!!) Thank you for giving AlternativeCopperpot5 video material!!! =)

Pertama kali dengar lagu ini… wtf*** !!! Ini genius ! 😳👍🙏
Wonder why they decided to randomly pull this Bleach number out so many years later. Maybe cause they're in Finland - one of the homes of Black Metal - and they wanted to play a heavy, raw number.
Wow, I didn't know they played Swap Meet during this point in their careers.
Bleach is the greatest Nirvana record. It's the most important. The one that says...here we are now, stop liking us

Man this song live sounds much better, how can i learn play this? Instead of the album version.
In the album version, Kurt's playing both the A and D strings in the main riff. Live, he only plays the A string. That's about the only difference, afaik.
Well the main difference between the this version and the album is that on the album the guitar was in Drop D and in this version the guitar is in Drop C#
