I have a ‘62 flat pack in the beautiful Manila envelope with a US Mint mailing label containing two colored “Insured” stamps on it to a buyer in Pawtucket R.I. With “ Postage and Fees Paid U.S Treasury Department” in the upper left corner. Awesome stuff. Thanks. Someday I’ll open it. Be well.
To be honest the 1982 proof set is on my top favorite sets I’ve collected and I have a number of them because of the beautiful toning that you get from that set that I haven’t seen as much in others just throwing that out there
I saw one lot of 4 sets from the 80s go for only $10 at a club auction. They are pretty worthless. I like the ones that have ike dollars or SBA dollars. The silver ones from the 60s are a good value now too with spot being down.
Not to be argumentative or rude but there were a few things that I would like to point out . The flat pack was introduced in 1955 ,it phased out the boxes that year . The 1950 and the 1951 are the most expensive of the 50's with each going for around $500 . The 1950 was the year that the mint reintroduced the proof sets ,as they were suspended during the war after the 1942 set was put out . Now on that note the 1942 came in 2 types , 1 had 1 regular nickel and the other had 2 types of nickels . While both are expensive , the 2 nickel set is more . This was also the case with the 1942 mint. sets.
I have a 25 year mint set that starts in 1964-1993. Inside it there is a card that states (your proof set has been carefully inspected. yada yada yada and it is signed). It has the 1975 dime WITHOUT the. S mint mark. Is this the holy grail of dimes that is so valuable?
Serious question. I have a 1955 flat pack proof set. It's missing the mint medallion! The cellophane is still sealed so I know it wasn't just taken out. I've tried to search for others like this but my searches have been less than fruitful. Haha. Do you know anything about this? Does it make it rare or worth more? Any help and or guidance anyone can provide would be much appreciated! Thank you and as usual, awesome video!
Blueridgesilverhound hasn't answered any of my questions but I thought I could shed some light on yours. I would suggest getting a membership with one of the third-party companies and getting it professionally graded, best thing to do in my eyes.
Oldest one I have is a 55 flat pack. I just bought 8 more flat packs from my LCS 4-1964 for $15 each and a 61, 62, 58 & a 59 for $17.50 each. All proof sets. They are addictive
Between $25.00 and $39.00 online . If you go to a “ local “ coin show in your area - you’ll get silver headed men selling them for $12.00 to $20.00 . To ME , I’m not interested in any after 1964 . 90% silver or nothing as far as my personal preference in these sets …
Thanks for all your information I've been wondering, seeing the old sets you had made me want to ask. Is there a way to clean a coin with milk spots and stuff like that or a proof that lost its camo, if you send it to get graded the value won't be hurt. i would really appreciate seeing something about that cause there's a few coins that i have that are in really good condition but they were stored wrong by someone for years. thanks again for sharing all the knowledge with everyone And i look forward to hearing from you. if i should leave the spots or is there a way to clean them without killing the value

Sounds good nice to know!
I remember you doing a Video of 1982 and I think 1983 mint sets. Am I right and remembering that you said to buy them up if you can get them?
Be on the lookout for the 56 Type 1 and Type 2 Franklin half proofs if your cherrypicking sets.
