Beautiful. my legs were crossed near the end, and it's only a video! can't beleive that this is possible, an absolute pleasure to watch. Just wondering, how much would something like this sell for?
Making the blanks is the easy part. The star is a regular octagram. t'{4}=t{4/3}={8/3} Basically 45 and 90 degree angles. You could make a jig for a table saw, because the cuts meet at 90 degrees on the inside.
Wondering why you didn't put a jam chuck inside the goblet end to stabilize while you were finishing the base? Looks great. Would love to see you creating the segmented blanks as well, that is a difficult piece of the project to get right!
Like others I'm impressed, but I noticed you have not responded to other inquiries about the blanks you used, I also would like to make goblets or even Xmas ornaments. Could you please let us know where you purchased the blanks. Thanks
Sorry for the delay. The blanks that are shown in this video are made by The woodturner himself, Eli Avisera, with a special technique he developed many years ago. we intend to make a video of how he makes them. few years ago these blanks were available for sale, and if there will be a demand maybe he will consider to offer them for sale again.
i love your miniature segmented goblets im a new subscriber and woodturner and youtuber, would u like to do a swap with me so i can turn those as well? chris
It's beautiful but! It's still a kind of "self working art". The same category with "self working paintings" (see pouring paints) self working magics (see math trick with cards) And so on... Its nice, but It is not art!! Just technical knowledge of using machine and materials. The beautiful cup in this video make itself!! All the compliments to the rotating machine!!
What a gorgeous goblet.
Beautiful. Every time the gouge went anywhere near the delicate stem my heart was in my throat. Worth seeing through to the end! Thanks.
The craftsmanship is outstanding, can I just sit in the stock room and look at all thoes blanks.
