    I loved this episode, Star Tours holds a special place in my heart especially the original version because my dad and I used to ride the ride all the time. Great episode!

    My mom rode Star Tours on opening day while I was stuck in junior high, and I hated her for it. But then I got to ride Toy Story Mania during a soft opening when I became a CM. So ... there. Really showed her.

    Awesome video. Star Tours has been one of my most favorite rides of all time in any park. I got to experience both iterations as a kid and now as an adult. I still have my old Starspeeder 3000 toy in my room and just recently I bought the giant Starspeeder 1000 toy.

    I absolutely love Star Tours! I first rode the original Star Tours back at Disney MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) when I was 6 years old. 8 years later, I rode The Adventure Continues when I was 14 years old. I loved both the old and new ones.

    Great episode as always Matt! I rode the original attraction at Disneyland during the 90's so it was really nostalgic hearing about all of that stuff and seeing it again! Thank you for that. I know a lot of people say that The Adventures Continue has too much CGI and that it doesn't make sense with the timeline, but I still enjoy it and think it has one of the best queues on that side of the park!

    I remember riding Star Tours the first week or so of it opening. I might be mistaken but I seem to remember this as one of the first attractions at DL that had some applied dirt and damage to the theming to make it seem used and more realistic. It was a noticeable difference to the usual pristine feel of Disneyland theming. I also remember people complaining of motion sickness the first couple of months. They adjusted and the motion until number of complaints went way down.

    During my trips to Walt Disney World, I'd ride the original Star Tours 2 to 3 times per vacation...and I NEVER secured the seatbelt! The first few times, the ride started before I figured it out. Fortunately, being overweight meant I was literally WEDGED IN, & never felt like I'd be thrown from my seat.

  • @SalivatingSteve

    I just want to point out that since they added the Last Jedi sequence, they aren't really randomizing the locations visited now. You always get the Force Awakens and Last Jedi sequences now. The opening scene does change between Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, and the middle hologram message part is still randomized -- but no more trips to Tattooine, Corusant, Hoth, Naboo, or Kashyyk!!!

    • @garethroberts2738
      @garethroberts2738 6 років тому

      They've started using the other sequences now, in Paris at least. But yeah I wasn't a fan of it. I get that they want to advertise their films but when they had originally hyped the attraction as being different every time it doesn't make much sense.

    • @sarahpalms5258

      at Disneyland, it no longer goes anywhere else, which was a real disappointment. I'm hoping they bring back the random places!!

    • @archlinuxrussian
      @archlinuxrussian 6 років тому

      I bet they will, I mean it's at least *understandable* that they'd try to hype their latest movies (which I've honestly liked all of them so far, to varying degrees), but they should probably switch it back soon. Also, it'd be helpful to know how long they've had it primarily Sequel Trilogy dominant, so I could have made an informed comment xD haha

    The irony of "it will be around for years to come" is that there is a fair chance that Star Tours - The Adventures Continue will close following the opening of Galaxy's Edge. While nobody is certain, it could be rethemed to Marvel or something else. Disney may not want a Star Wars attraction that is outside the land.

      michaelthebishop they have winnine the pooh in critter country when it should be fantasyland. star tours will be fine especially since galaxy's edge is based on the new films while star tours AC is based on all the movies

    • @michaelthebishop5290

      I’m interested to know why you believe that Winnie The Pooh should be in Fantasyland?

    • @590488
      @590488 6 років тому +7

      michaelthebishop
      1) It's in fantasyland in MK, Tokyo, HK, and Shanghai
      2)The story of Critter Country takes place in a forest near New Orleans, to help seamlessly blend the area of New Orleans Square with the lore of song of the south. Winnie the pooh takes place in England and doesn't thematically fit in with the area.
      3) By placing the ride in critter country they dropped two of the most important aspect of Winnie the pooh, Christopher Robin and the book, Christopher Robin is one of the most important characters in the story as it is his story of him growing up with his stuffed animals and the whole time the story is going on they reference the fact that they're in a book (the climax of the third act is the narrator tilting the book so Tigger can get out of the tree)
      4) the only reason the built it in critter country was because there was no room to build a gift shop in Fantasyland

      @michaelthebishop5290 6 років тому +2

      Wow. I didn't actually expect to learn something from the reply. I'm impressed and did not realize that. But I think another part of it was Disney didn't want to wipe Mr Toad's Wild Ride off the map everywhere. But I now certainly see where you're coming from.

    When you finally decide to do a new Historyland episode (which I hope soon consindering you haven't done any since feburary of 2019, that's almost TWO YEARS AGO), do Body Wars, Star Tours' sister ride, at the now defunct Wonders of Life pavillion at Epcot.

    Universal Studios Hollywood is also doing something similar to their Jurassic Park ride by updating it to the more recent Jurassic World films next year.
    A lot of theme park goers have doubts for Star Tours staying for years to come with Galaxy's Edge coming next year, making the ride both redundant and expendable.

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin 6 років тому

      I figure that for a while yet, they'll want to keep it around just to provide something with a Star Wars theme for people who are stymied by multi-hour standby lines at the Galaxy's Edge rides. Eventually, they may be tempted to re-theme it to something else, like the Iron Man simulator ride in Hong Kong.

    The "Star Tours" timeline makes no sense. Who cares if Hoth is in it, since we also visit Coruscant during the events of "Revenge of the Sith?" and Naboo during "Phantom Menace"? And now there's Jakku and Crait? It doesn't make sense. Star Tours should add Scarif and Kessel, since both fit the purported timeline much better and would be thrilling additions to the ride to boot.

    I'm sorry, but I really feel like they ruined an amazing ride with the renovation they did. The first time I rode it, I did like the interactive elements, which was cool because I actually was picked as the 'Rebel Spy' for my ride through, complete with an off-guarded picture of myself looking like a doofus, but most other aspects just can't compare to the original in my eyes. The amount of CG used just makes the whole experience more hollow for me.
    Great video by the way. I think this channel deserves a lot more attention considering how much work you put into the videos. Can't get enough of the retro-vibe found within the videos.
