- The early folks who get hold of new cameras sometimes make mistakes. Many youtubers claimed the minimum ISO of the Sony A9III was limited to 250. This is incorrect. This video shows you how to change that to 125 ISO in the menu settings. it's easy and gives you more freedom, especially when using the new global shutter feature with strobes in portrait or sports settings.

The base iso for the A9iii is 250 if I’m not mistaken. Per the manual this is the iso with the greatest latitude in image quality. At 125 gain is applied and your dynamic range is reduced. At least that is what I’m interpreting from the manual.
Yes I can set minimum ISO to 125 but when the camera is set to ISO Auto then the minimum it can be set to use is 250.
fortunately for me, I never use any kind of auto setting, Auto ISO or otherwise.
is there a con to taking it below the 250 that sony wants it to stay at ?
A very slight drop in DR, almost negligible at ISO 125
I do it all the time when shooting on lights (strobes). For portraits, sometimes I want to get rid of a busy background by using HSS with fast glass and 125 ISO really helps me there.
You lose dynamic range, especially in the highlights.
I think you are conflating minimum ISO with base ISO and the base ISO for the A9iii is 250.
My video had nothing to do with the base ISO of the A9III, only the minimum ISO that can be set.
Does anyone know the technical 'cleanest' ISO for Sony A1 stills? I can only find data for video. The lowest ISO of 50 doesn't offer the best possible performance apparently.
The base ISO of 100
@@paulofthepeak thanks mate, I'm usually at high ISOs because I don't use a tripod much, when I have been using a tripod I usually set ISO 200 or 400 because I wasn't sure. I will try to achieve ISO 100 if possible now
@@KurtisPape if you need to use 400 you're better off using 500 as its slightly better due to the dual gain
@@paulofthepeak Ah I see the charts online now, for some reason I thought it was for video only the dual gain. Yep I will keep ISO 500 in mind as well. ISO 500 will probably be more useful for me to avoid motion blur.
Bonjour Pm-R
Cela ne fonctionne pas, désolé
Il est bien possible de changer cette valeur dans le menu
Mais en réglant la vitesse pour descendre a 125 imossible
