Pretty much. Kinda crazy how bent out of shape some people are acting over it, PWI's opinions don't hold so much weight that they invalidate anyone else's. 🤷♂
@ApexZer0 Fair, but it's still ultimately someone's subjective opinion. Like Meltzer's star reviews, it's more about how much people put stock into and care about one or a select few people's opinions.

Probably because AEW nabbed almost all of their top stars over the last 5 years and have struggled to build new ones since

The Gunther disrespect is INSANE. Ospreay (love him to death) never held a world title during the adjudication period but is somehow #3. Gunther broke the IC title record and had 5-star caliber matches on free TV with names you’d never expect…
The lack of a resolution to Better Than You BayBay is beyond disappointing still. The entire buildup to that All In finale was absolutely incredible, I hoped everything that followed would match that, but here we are.
To this day, the only aew ppv I have watched in full and live. I am more of a sports entertainment fan and it was exactly that and I loved it.
Natio should lose the NJPW belt at Royal Quest IV against Zach Saber Jr and take time off for the rest of 2024. NJPW can find a #1 contender against Zach Saber Jr at NJPW wrestle kingdom elevating matches or a tournament or give Hiromu Takahashi a NJPW world heavyweight champion match at the dome you cowards.

To be fair to the channel, most thumbnails and press have been of the PWI Cody Number 1 picture already so I don't think it's that big a deal going from 1-10. It's not like Jack and Tom chose the winners.

defo more of a kayfabe list for sure so i tend not to pay to much attention to it to be honest. much prefer it based on workrate etc not a disrespect to cody at all since he is a big hitter but he wouldnt be my personal number one id have changed a lot of the top 10 around if its purely based on ability. as a rule the wwe champion tends to be number one as the best wrestler when imo its very rarely the case. but good video as always lads just my 10 cents

Rhea Ripley isn't even on the Top 500 List. Seriously, go check it out. No Roman Reigns on there either, so all the WrestleMania buildup meant nothing according to the list. Its supposed to be based on end of August 2023 to right before the start of August of 2024. They both were champions at the top of the biggest money company for months of that time period. Not in the top 500 though somehow.
There is a seperate list for women.

How do you explain them on there and how do you explain Roman NOT being on there when he was a HUGE part of the feud that put the guy in the number one spot on the list. Ok, edited. I see that they have to compete against men for some reason. Still doesn't explain the Roman Reigns part.

Roman didn't make the list because there's a minimum of ten matches during the evaluation period to be considered, and Roman had nine.
@@RobertJW Oh well, shame that they would do that to disqualify certain people. I'm not even a big WWE guy, but to deny putting on Reigns when he was a huge part of the story for the Cody at 1 and Seth at 4 while also holding the top titles so they had to make another one instead of giving him a title loss. Was a major part of one of the best storylines and feuds in years. Was on TV a lot for angles instead of matches. Their 6 "criteria" of Win-loss record, Championships won, Quality of competition, Major feuds, Prominence within a wrestler’s promotion(s), and Overall wrestling ability... He scores near the top in several of those.
So Roman isn't in the top 500???

His back injury I believe hearing over the years. After knowing that I let go of missing the old way (well at an angle, facin centre very early on when he started performing the pose didn’t fit so well).

The fact that Moxley is in the Top 10 discredits this list. He’s a joke and a crap wrestler. I never got his appeal even when he was Ambrose.
It's a kayfabe list and he won titles, simple as that.
If the list was only on wrestling ability then he'd be low but he's won alot and can cut a soild promo

Cody at 1 shows how comical this list is. Guy has had a horrendous run so far and been in the same feud for like 3 years
It's true that it wasn't great so far but that was to be expected in my opinion. After the long story with the Bloodline there simply wasn't a credible source on Smackdown. In general Cody's run shows the lack of credible heels at the moment in my opinion.
Do you not listen? It goes from Oct last year to July and Cody had one of the hottest runs in the business during that time. You salty that someone you don’t like got number 1 on a list no one takes seriously including the wrestlers themselves? Also to show how moronic your statement is, Cody has only been back for 3 years in WWE and he has definitely not been in the same feud that entire time🙄
I completely agree, but most rest of the list is a huge joke. I understand its inclusive of the big 3, but most of the people don't deserve a place on the list. Where's Drew or Roman? Not a fan of either but both have had a better year than most on this list. I'm also surprised that TNA has been snubbed, which is having a banging year.
They say they base it on accomplishments through the evaluation period - Cody pretty much won all his matches during that time and won the WWE Universal Title.
But with these things its always going to be subjective - I doubt there is anybody out there who'll say "I one hundred percent agree with this list" and will always be able to find issue with somebody's placement somewhere.
@@terencetinman29 They pretty much look at it like WWE then AEW and then New Japan - there are TNA wrestlers on the list but because its considered a lesser promotion they are down further on the list.
For Roman they put out a tweet right after publishing the list saying he didn't have enough matches in the evaluation period to get on the list (requirement is 10 matches or 6 matches in 6 different months).
