Seeds YOU MUST SOW NOW For EPIC SUMMER ABUNDANCE in your Garden

- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- February is the first magical month of the year where sowings seem to be happening thick and fast.
In this video I will run through 14 things I am sowing in the month of February on my way to part self sufficiency for our family with my home allotment. We start off outside in the greenhouse, sowing things which don’t need any heat or light to germinate before moving inside to the germination station in my kitchen to sow the rest.
We also check in on my pepper seeds which I sowed a month ago now, to see how they’re coming along.
If you have any of my luffa seeds, NOW is the time to be sowing them too. I show you how I pre-chit them before potting into to compost.
I’ll also go through the potato varieties I am growing this year and show you something I’m attempting to do for the first time ever! Can I make a success of it? It’s going to be a challenge.
If you can think of anything I have forgotten to sow for February, please let me know in the comments. I’d really appreciate it.
If you enjoyed this video, I’d love for you to give it a thumbs up, leave a comment and even subscribe to my channel. Your support really helps my channel to grow and reach new audiences.

I feel like it's spring! It so warm here for me
Cold here. Heavy frost last night
Hi Clare, the Red Duke of York are a really nice spud as are the Cara as well, concerning the chitting you can snap/push off the chit if they are too big when you get them like that Red Duke of York that you showed, it doesn't do the spud any harm and will grow again, there's plenty of time. TC.
Barry (the Wirral)
Ooo thank you for that wonderful advice Barry! I have duly taken the chits off. I forgot that Kerry mentioned that in her video last week too. Silly me!
I’m really excited about growing the Red Duke of York and Cara. Duncan likes a white skinned jacket potato, so hoping the Cara will be perfect for that.
I hope you are well and looking forward to spring. Look after yourselves x
Happy chitting
I’m chitting excited 🤣
Adore how experienced you are yet you still watch and acknowledge all the other folks that do the great job you do. Feeling braver for my first full year on a very large allotment 🥰 thank you xx
Thanks Gemma. It’s only my second full season too. If I can do it, you can. You’ll have a lovely first season and learn so much. I’m so excited for you. That first season is just amazing. I’d love to live it over again ❤️
Great update Clare, I grew Cara last year and they grew well and were lovely. Good luck with all your sowings. Take care 😊
Thanks Bethan. Seems Cara is quite popular with many people. Glad I chose it now ❤️
So(w) exciting! I'm waiting for my potatoes to arrive. I wanted to try Charlotte, but they were out of stock. I have 6 different varieties coming plus 1 I saved from last year. When I start my sweet potato slips, I put the potato in water, and when the sprouts are about 6 inches long, I pop them off and place them in water to root. The potato will keep sprouting so you can keep harvesting them to root.
Thanks for that! That’s super helpful info for me on sweet potatoes. I’ve not tried before. 🤩🤩
What a shame you couldn’t get all the varieties you wanted.
I'm so glad it helps!
It's ok there's always next year to try Charlotte 🙂@TheFarmyardGarden
@kathleenwilliamson174 that is true! I got spoilt for choice. I find it hard to decide when confronted with umpteen varieties at the garden centre 🤪🙈🥔
Red Duke for me too plus Home Guard. Sarpo Miro and Axona for maincrop early April.
Thanks for another informative vlog Clare.
I’ve heard good things about Axona. It’s so hard to choose which to go for. You’ve got a good selection there too.
Thanks for watching and supporting again, George. Really appreciate it ☺️
Some super varieties here - really interested to see how it goes with the sweet potato 😊
Thanks so much. I really hope the sweet potatoes work. 🙏🏻
The 'knight' series of aubergine are great. They are long aubergines and very tasty. They come in white , green or purple variety. T & M has a pack of mixed seeds- seeds of each variety. We are not keen on chillies either, but this year I am growing Trinidad perfume, which is said to have all the flavour but none of the heat. 6 seeds sown and 6 seeds germinated. That should be more than enough for us to try. I sowed and germinated 6 globe artichokes last year. One plant produced 7 heads. The others managed 3-4. It looks like one has died this last winter. I grew amaranth last summer for my flower arranging- we also ate some of the leaves. I grow Charlottes every year- fabulous potato. I have saved seed for this year. Also grow Vivaldi and Anya. It's my birthday today and my hubster took me out to the garden centre. Very spoiled and bought loads of plants and bulbs. Exciting. I also follow jessie and fancied trying red Duke of York so I got 1kg at £2.20 to try. happy growing 🙂
That sounds excellent! Thank you. My sister grew some long black ones last year and the plant was such a heavy cropper. They were a nice size to add to dishes ❤️
Nice what to plant video. TY so much for the mention. I do hope those Hungarians make a nice paprika for you.
I am so hopeful Robin. Thank you for sending them to me. ❤️
We've done it again clare. Chose some similar haha! A great selection! My luffah are doing well. Thank you for sending the seed! Happy growing. Danny x
You are very welcome. Mine have chitted already. The power of fresh seed ❤️❤️
I was surprised how many things I was sowing and there’s plenty I’ve not mentioned too.. such as onions and salads. March is going to be crazy
Let’s hope our seeds do well and we end up with a bumper harvest this year. ❤️
I sow my leek seeds the same way Clare, and I sowed these leeks last year and was really happy with them after growing Musselburgh for years, take care Steve Colwell
That’s brilliant to hear. Thanks Steve. I’ve musselburghs and Northern Lights in the ground now, so fancied trying another variety to compare. ❤️
The aubergine I love is called black beuty
I think my sister grew those last year. I was quite taken with growing things which didn’t look like shop bought varieties last year. I don’t feel quite rogue this year 🤣❤️
Absolutely no sowing here 😂😂 it’s snowing but hopefully the middle of Feb. I have pricking out to do so,that will be my “garden fix” for the day. Have a super week Clare, Ali ❄️❄️❄️🇨🇦
Oh Ali, winter seemed fairly mild for you this year, so it’s an extra sting in the tail.
Hope the weather picks up soon. Stay warm (and dry) xx
Thank you for the mentions Clare - I think it might be even better seeing my favourite moment of 2024 on someone else's channel than my own! Right, to dig out a sweet potato now.. (influencer!)
Now she has.😉❤️
I’m so glad we are both trying sweet potatoes this year. Exciting!
I think your peas in a gutter will be the top moment in my video 🤣❤️
Ha! Well spotted though!
Ooo the chillies look great! I’m sowing sweet peppers and celeriac for the first time this year so this video was super helpful thank you!
Ooo good luck with them. What varieties are you going for?
@ I have some sweet colour spectrum peppers and neon F1 celeriac 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
@ ooo off to google! 🌱❤️
hi Clair my weekly treat watching your blog , a light of brightness in a very difficult time x
Hi Allison, I’m sorry you’re going through a dark time. Here’s hoping brighter times are on their way for you. So pleased the videos help lift your spirits xx
I spot sourdough starter! Sweet potato in water worked for us - it's great to see the shoots form and a lot cheaper than buying slips online. Right I'm off to look at my aubergines and see what's free. See you soon!
Ha.. always a sourdough starter. So excited to try growing sweet potatoes as we love them here. I can always buy slips if it doesn’t work but I’m hopeful 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Another well structured video with loads of information and demonstrations on February sowings, so thanks. You are an inspiration on doing things properly.
Wow! Thank you Brenda. What a lovely comment to read. Really appreciate such motivating feedback. ❤️❤️
It’s getting to the exciting part now Clare isn’t it. I’ve just bought my potatoes to chit and will do this when I get back from the Lakes with my daughters and granddaughters on Tuesday. I can’t wait to get stuck in again and try different things. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
It really is starting to get exciting again! Feels so good to be back starting things off. Hope you have a lovely time away.
What varieties of potato are you growing this year?
@ I’m only doing Maris Piper and Maris Peer (I think). We don’t eat a great deal so not doing loads.
I've been thinking of growing them habanero
The habanada? I can’t remember how many seeds came in the packet but I’ll send you some if I have spares
I love Moris... did you send me them seeds I swear I gave them!
Yeah. I’m pretty sure I put them in the Christmas box
Another fab video Clare 👍👏👏👏
I've not even looked at my seeds yet 🤭 Need to get organised!
Root trainers are great, I bought more last year so when I'm ready they are there. 😂
A fab how to video.
Have a great week ❤ xx
I was shocked how many seeds I have to sow when I looked at my boxes and list. Hoping to lessen the chaos of March sowings this way 🤣
Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday (and you’ve enjoyed a celebratory cake this weekend for your 2k) ❤️
Must get a move on Linda 🙂 Happy growing 🙂
@ spring is come around so quickly. Here’s hoping we all have an excellent growing season in 2025 🌱❤️
The sweet potato will be an interesting test 😍 The Red Duke of York and Charlotte all the way, I got 3kg of seed potatoes of both 😀
Thanks for the shout-out 🥰 Happy growing 🤗💚🌿
You definitely helped to sell me on growing the Red Duke of York. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten red skinned new potatoes, so it’s a real first. Very excited. I may do a couple of early St Patrick’s Day sowings in the greenhouse of them too.
Charlotte were my favourite potatoes last year. Really pleased with how they grew.
I’m going to try another sweet potato in compost too. I have space earmarked for them in the polytunnel and/or greenhouse ❤️
Thanks for watching ❤️
@TheFarmyardGarden 😊 your Charlotte's grew amazing last year 🎉 fantastic sized potatoes 🥔 I'm sure you'll like the RDOY 💚🌿
@spudsandroses they really did! I think the compost is too free draining in the buckets. My Sarpo Mira did better in the buckets because I’d run out of compost and used some top soil instead. Think it retained moisture for longer for them. The Charlotte’s in buckets were definitely not as impressive as the ones in the ground, albeit still very tasty.
Hi Clare another great video you are sowing a so many different varieties of seeds can`t wait to watch them to grow and watch their progress, thank you for your time in doing this video.
Thanks Val. So many varieties because the Kings Seeds catalogue gave me too many options 🤣
I am looking forward to trying all the peppers though, for some good variety. We do use a lot in cooking. Determined to be able to make 4-5 bags of frozen chopped peppers to last through the year. 🙏🏻
@TheFarmyardGarden Danny at deep south homestead have a few good videos on growing sweet potato slips he also has a small book that shows the best way to grow them.Hope this helps you regards Val
@valrackley4568 ooo thank you. I’ll give him a check out in the morning. Off to bed right now. Thank you
Omg Clare, this just popped up on my feed 😊 WOW, so professional, like watching gardeners world 🌎 love it 😊
You made me laugh out loud.. when I realised it was you. Current hobby more sedate than the one we used to occasionally do together 🤪🤩
@TheFarmyardGarden well I will definitely be tuned in from now on 😁
@robbie__uk so funny! I’m a little embarrassed now 🤣🤣
@TheFarmyardGarden get used to it, I foresee you being a yourube star 🌟 your so natural in front of the camera 😁
@robbie__uk I suggest you scrowl to find my first video and laugh.. not least for how much thinner I was too 🤣
Hello clare
Hello Miss Nik. 🤣
I love your videos.👌🌱❤
Thank you 🤩 ❤️
I use Cara as a main crop spuds, they are great at shrugging off disease and still producing a great crop with large(baker) spuds of a lovely taste, I also grow my spuds in 30 lt. Pots. Derek
Excellent Derek. Thank you. Looks like Cara are going to be a good choice to add to the list this year. I do love a jacket potato ❤️
Great video, always love to see what other people are sowing. I hope you enjoy the Cara potatoes as much as we do, we like them because they make tasty baby potatoes as well a good maincrop.
Can't wait to see how your sweet potato does. I bought a purple one again this year, hopefully it will do better than last year's.
If I see any purple ones I’ll probably buy some. I never saw any slips for sale last year, so taken matters in my own (uneducated) hands this year. Ha!
I’m excited to try the Cara. Thank you for inspiring me to get them
@TheFarmyardGarden You should get slips easily, the way you're doing it. Last year I had plenty of slips but I think the weather wasn't warm or dry enough for them to do much. Trying again in the hope we have a much better growing year. 🤞🌱
@ fingers crossed for both of us 🤗
Hi Claire, looking forward to watching as always! Oh I'm itching to get planting very soon, the tunnel is a mess 😂 and I'm battling new zealand flatworms! Have a large part of the garden under plastic to kill the weeds and pulled a piece back and got 42 of the buggers and over 30 the week before! Going to pull it all back today and no doubt I'll get double that amount! Sinéad from Ireland
Oh Sinéad, I’ve seen Maiju struggles with flatworms too. I’ve not seen any in our garden yet. Such a worry. It’d be my worse nightmare as I don’t like touching worms anyway 😬😬
Keep up the good fight for the native worms.
I was looking through my seed list thinking I didn’t have much to sow and then got super giddy as the list grew 🤣🤣
Hi Clare, lots of sowing done. Getting busier now. My potatoes are chitting away, I'm growing Charlotte ( saved from my harvest) Kestrel (grew first time last season, very good all.round potato) & Maris Piper. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
All last year I kept saying I was growing kestrel then I realised it was King Edward (when I went back to check on the video). D’oh!
I grew kestrel in 2023. Nice potatoes. Charlotte were my favoured ones though. We don’t eat many chips, my head things of Maris pipers for chips. I should grow some though. 😍
There’s so much choice when it comes to potatoes. I find it a bit overwhelming deciding 😭🤣
Thanks for watching Christine. See you next Sunday x
I'm growing Turkish Orange aubergines this year. From the videos I've been consuming I think it will be a mistake to think that they're just an aubergine variety, as they're quite bitter and will suit certain types of recipe more than others. They're very easy to grow. An Ethiopean commented that they're a weed in his country.
It’s funny to think they’re a weed to some people when we are tenderly cultivating on heat pads right now. 🙈
I’ve also read in my comments that they’re more bitter when fully orange, so best eaten before completely ripe. Will bear that in mind.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Happy Sunday to you, Claire!
Oooh, sweet potatoes. Red Gardens in Ireland had good success with these last year in black plastic growbags, I think in the greenhouse? I might try that as I didn't have good success with normal potatoes in bags, so maybe it was too hot for them. I thought I was too late, but let's see. Going shopping tomorrow, adding sweet potatoes to my list!
Ooo good luck with sweet potatoes too! I think they take a while to start making slips, so it seems around the right time to start them.
I’ll be growing in the greenhouse or polytunnel too. Not outside. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Omg! I lost the spiral peppers from Allie too!!!!!!'nnn
I’m sure they’ll turn up.
I never seem to get on with sowing peas as they always rot in the pot. I'll certainly try 3 or 4 to a pot though. I collect molehill soil for my compost. Its free and great quality. Love your channel 🙂
Thanks Ian. We also have molehills around the farm. I really should go and collect some soil too. I worry about weed seeds in it though.
I have done ok with them in these root trainers, so fingers crossed they’ll do well this year too. Hope you have more success with them this season.
I’m glad you enjoy the content. Thanks for supporting my channel ❤️
@TheFarmyardGarden Yes we both spotted your washroom as a UA-cam suggestion and immediately subscribed. Unfortunately we have a small walled garden that is N/E facing so limited sunlight for the cold greenhouse although it starts to hit it early Feb. Can't get an allotment so do the best we can. I will try the root trainers as heard they are good.
@Ian-gw2vx oh no, I’m so sorry you’re not able to secure an allotment. It’s so strange how some areas of the country have so many empty plots, unable to fill them, yet in other areas people could be waiting 5 years plus to start their allotmenting journey. It’s a postcode lottery for sure.
There will be a big update on the wash house in two or three weeks. I’m excited for the next stage. If you find me on patreon (it’s free, not a paid one) there’s some updates there too
@TheFarmyardGarden Great! will look forward to that. So blessed to have the space you have. Glad you are putting it to good use. Allotments - tell me about it. There are so many empty, and neglected I could be using but there you go. An old couple let me use a plot of land in the countryside to grow on that I turned over for them (too much for them in their 80s) but the owner got greedy and wanted to introduce a contract (never mentioned before I did all the backbreaking work all Summer) that entitled him to a "fair share" of my produce. There were also other issues so I had to sadly part company 😒 All is not lost as my niece lets me use her garden to grow whatever I want as she has no interest in gardening 🙂
@Ian-gw2vx oh that’s so unfair of that landowner. I’m sorry that happened to you.
It’s lovely that you can use your niece’s space though. Nice to be able to enjoy time with family too.
I am so very lucky to live where I do. I never take the privilege for granted or the space we have. I’ve only lived here for 20 years. My last home didn’t even have a garden, so I’ve truly embraced the greenery now. ❤️
I have begun this weeks episode. First think I’ve noticed is that you are giving the public much more to sow in February than Kerry.😉😂❤️xxx
I might have even inspired Kerry with the last thing I mention ❤️❤️
I was shocked how many things I had to sow when I checked my seed box out. Things are going to be crazy in March.. I’ll have run out of space 🤣
Thank you very much for reminding me to start sowing. Maybe today. Have a great Sunday 🌞🌼💐☀️
It’s good to get a few things in the compost now, makes March a little less overwhelming then 😅😅😅😅
Thanks for watching. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🤗
Good luck with the sweet potato Claire, I've grown both ways in a glass of water worked but took for ever and laying flat on damp compost just over 2 weeks and they sprouted 🍠🍠
Ooo I think I might trying another one on damp compost, I just didn’t have any more spare at the time. I have a new bag now though ☺️☺️
Lufas are quite good for scrubbing dirty dishes too!
Yes! I have one in a dish in the kitchen windowsill for just that purpose. I should have shown that! 😬😬❤️
I have heard that you should wash store bought veg, like your sweet potato to wash off growth inhibitors which may affect your success,
Yeah, I did wash it.. largely because I was unsure which ones I was going to eat 🤣
I also chose an organic potato for that reason too ❤️❤️
@TheFarmyardGarden 😆 good luck, it will be interesting to see your progress
@ I probably misplaced optimism 🤣🙏🏻🙏🏻
@TheFarmyardGarden I’m sure you’ll succeed, your veg plot is great!
@ thank you Jayne. So kind of you to say ❤️
It's so exciting now isn't it 😃. Going to start chitting my loofah seeds today 👏👍. I've got my first and second earlies out chitting as well, although i'm now wishing i picked up some maincrop !. Only want to get a few so i might have to try and sneak in a trip to the garden centre asap 😂x
I’m so excited to see if we all get luffa babies. Mine have started to chit already! Going to pop on in some compost later. ❤️❤️
Definitely add in some main crop too ❤️
Fab update Claire. Heads up for a potentially fab heatless chilli. Candycane Chocolate Cherry (Red Dragon/Chillichump). It’s variegated foliage and beautiful looking plant. Apparently really sweet too. My heatless habanada has only just germinated👏🏼. Look forward to seeing your progress with these. Online order for Red Duke of York turned out to be Premier🤷♀️. Oh well.😂
Oooo thank you Kaz! Loving this suggestion! Just had a look and might get some seeds. I did pick up some Gochu seeds yesterday as my daughter is obsessed with all things Korean culture/food so that’s one for her.
I’m hoping to make some chilli powder for me that avoids too much heat. I do love the flavour but I get the weirdest red facial rash with any hotter chillies 🤣
That’s a shame about the potatoes. I hope they’re still tasty.
@ 😂The Gochu sounds great, but my partner doesn’t like anything too 🥵. I planted the Chocolate Cherry yesterday and even soaked in black tea beforehand for a couple of hours.🤞🏻for quick germination. I’m really excited to be growing these, they look so pretty and if they taste as good as people say… it’s a win win!
Oh, also found another mild one called Murasaki, a long purple sweet one.
@ they do look amazing! I grew tiger jalapeno last year and they had variegated leaves too. The chillies were teeny on it. I’ve checked out the Candy Cane Chocolate Cherry and the chillies are as striking as the plant. Have ordered some ❤️
🥳
Morning Claire, how exciting is this time now?
I'll be sowing leeks today, peppers and some more cucumbers.
I'm hoping for a greenhouse for my birthday next month, fingers crossed I've left enough hints 😂
Wow, haven't your chilli's grown lovely 🤗
I sowed some hollyhocks last week and they have already come up.
My luffas were doing great until I repotted them all, sadly 2 died from transplant shock, so I will get more going next week.
Have a great Sunday Claire xx
Oh no.. I’m so sorry that some of your Luffas had transplant shock. I try to pot the entire contents of the smaller pot into a new pot to avoid it as much as possible. It worked last year, so fingers crossed for this year too. A lesson in why we over sow, as so much can and does go wrong.
I grew hollyhocks last year. I forgot about those! I should look for more seeds. My mixed packet of seeds all turned out to be a pale pink. 🤣
I need to pot my chillies on next. I can’t believe it’s been over 12 months since I started this last year. Time has flown but it’s super exciting! ❤️
I'm using the same varieties of potatoes this year Clare 🙂
Excellent! Have you grown all four before? I could also add in some pink fir apple as I’ve just harvest my last of those too.
Charlotte’s were my absolutely favourite but I also loved how the Sarpo Mira didn’t turn to mush in when boiling.. King Edward was the opposite, hence I’ve not chosen them again this year
@TheFarmyardGarden Yes Clare I've grown all four before .Charlottes are my staple but do love Red Duke Of York .Pink Fir Apple are very tasty but just dont give me the yields for my limited area but if you've space there a great addition .
@susiespearing6165 yes, when you’re peeling and chopping for a family, I also found the same. Nice taste but I think I would rather have the Charlottes and Sarpo Mira. I hate peeling small spuds 🤣😬
@TheFarmyardGardenyou'll love Cara then .They usually give me good jackets 🫰
@ oh wow!! Excited! I love jacket potatoes 🥔 ❤️❤️
Another great episode full of information and advice, Clare.
I've never heard of Aztec dwarf tomatoes, but I like the idea of them, so I ordered some seeds this morning on your recommendation.
I'm also trying the gutter trick this year. Can't wait to see how that goes 😊 can I ask if it would work for beans too?
I've been outside this morning and started cleaning the cobwebs out of the corners in my greenhouse. So excited to get on and sow 😊
Ooo the big greenhouse clean. How exciting! Spring really is in touching distance now.
I’ve never considered doing beans in guttering, and have had to ask a few people as to why it’s only peas. Two reason.. beans don’t like their roots disturbing and we generally plant a couple of beans to each pole to wind around to grow up. Dwarf beans would want more spacing than the gutter method would allow too.
I’m glad you’re trying the dwarf tomatoes. There’s also Red Robin, which I grew last year. ❤️
@TheFarmyardGarden Thanks for that Clare. I've got a small piece of guttering left so will give my grandson free reign with some peas then 🫛 he loves sowing them.
@lindajones3015 it’s so lovely to get a new generation involved. He’ll remember gardening sign his nannie for ever. X
@TheFarmyardGarden I hope so. They're doing a growing project at school and he's taking a few things in this week including a bean I bought him from a garden centre. The bean has his name embossed on one side that emerges as it grows and lasts for around 4 weeks. It's very cute
@lindajones3015 how cute is that?! Fascinating. I’d love to see you share a photo of that when it’s up ❤️
Great video Clare I am trying king of the north sweet peppers and Setanta potatoes this year
Thanks. I’ve not seen setanta potatoes but I’ll look them up. I have some King of the North already sown in January. One of my favourites ❤️
Fantastic video, Clare. I can't believe we're back to sowing the chilli peppers again. I've got a few new varieties this year and some new (to me) sweet peppers.
I'm going to be starting my loofah seeds off, a little bit of Staffordshire hopefully growing in South Yorkshire 😬
My 2nd early potatoes are kestrel. We really enjoyed them last year and like you, I forgot to save a few 😂 I've bought maris piper main crop this time but I do have some setanta left that I grew last year so I'll have both red and white.
Good luck with the sweet potato. Are you planning on growing them in a very large container or in the ground? 😊
I can’t believe I didn’t save any Sarpo Mira. In my defence I thought I had another bucket of them, oops!
I do have some saved white potatoes but I didn’t keep them separated once they were harvested.. so unsure which were Charlotte/ulster spectre or international kidney.. hence better to start again
If I get some slips, I’ll be growing in the polytunnel or the greenhouse. I might try in the ground and in a tub.
I really hope you get luffa babies. Mine have already chitted! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@TheFarmyardGarden they've chitted quickly Clare. That's excellent 👏 👌 😀 👍
@Jacqui-Pen there’s no thermostat on the head pad in the propagator so it’s quite warm in there, especially with a lid. I did hope it’d help to germinate the luffa and chillies faster ❤️
I use a garland super 7 heated propagator. They're a nice size for me. I got fantastic germination last year, but like you, there's no thermostat. @TheFarmyardGarden
Hmm, I tried Turkish orange and it is beautiful, but when it's orange it is very very bitter, I could not eat it. I did read if you eat it more green its better. I could never bring myself to try it
Oh thank you for that heads up, Kirsty, I’ll remember that! I had a similar experience with the crystal lemon cucumbers. Everyone raved about them but they were beyond just being a bit bitter. Vile 😬😬
It’s disappointing when you are looking forward to something isn’t it?
Coucou
Merci pour cette belle vidéo 😊
À bientôt
Tu es trop gentil. Merci.
A dimanche prochain 🌱
@TheFarmyardGarden de rien c'est avec plaisir
❤️
Gardeners love chitting and cropping all over the place.😉❤️xxx
We do!! We get very excited about chitting in windows. 🤣🤣🤣🙈
It’s your house so you can film yourself chitting in the windows and getting excited about it.😉👍❤️xxx
@jimmyconnolly3461 🤪🤣🤣🤣
Good morning Clare, inspiring video! ☺
I need to ask friends to save me some egg cartons as I don't eat eggs. I've ordered seed potatoes, they will be sent to me in March. If they like it cold, could they be chitted outside, as long as it's not frost? Last frost date here is mid May (in reality late April), so it's more of a hypothetical question.
I tried aubergines in the greenhouse at work last summer, I got one tiny aubergine out of two plants. Not worth the effort here unless it's in a very sunny hot spot. I'm thinking I need to embrace the climate I'm living in and grow what is more suited for it. I've ordered some older European tuber crops to try once I have my garden, turnip-rooted chervil, horseradish and tragopogon porrifolius which has so many common names, I didn’t know which to chose.
Have a great week, see you over at Patreon (which I think you forgot to mention 😅).
Trude
I am not good at self promotion am I? I didn’t even remember to add a “subscribe” graphic 🤣😅😅
We don’t eat many eggs here. I was given those egg boxes too. They really are handy for potato chitting.
I don’t know about chitting outside. If you did it in a greenhouse they may actually get a bit too warm when the sun is out. That said, my sister put hers in the greenhouse last year around that time and they were all absolutely fine, so definitely worth considering.
I didn’t get many aubergines last year. The first two were massive by the rest stayed tiny. My sister had great success with the longer, thin ones actually. Maybe I should be trying those this year. I’ll ask her which variety they were. They produced a lot for her.
It’s difficult not having the climate to grow things you really want to grow. I imagine it is very frustrating for you. I have a root parsley (Hamburg parsley) to grow this year too. Might that be one for you? They look like parsnips.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll be popping up on patreon with a luffa update shortly ❤️
You’re growing loads then haha you made me chuckle with the chillies lol not growing loads 😊
Not many chillies! I grew loads of chillies last year, pretty much half and half with peppers. This year more peppers.. significantly more 😚
@ that’s why I’m chuckling…. I knew you’d grow significantly less this year 😂
@Garden-of-weeden 🤪🤪🤪❤️
