Hey Cody. '04 C5 Corvette daily driver here. Not a garage queen at all with over 120K miles. You asked what to do first. Well, I think you mentioned the car had headers and cat-back exhaust. It looks like it has a cold air intake too. First I would take it to someone with HP Tuners and hook it up, because with those mods the C5 might already have the ECM "bricked" and tuned on HP Tuners. Another thing is the way the car pulled on the highway it looks like it may already have an upgraded cam. One way to tell, do a cold start vid and upload it. I could tell if the car had a cam just by listening to the idle. Start it cold (make sure the A/C is off or it will raise the idle and "smooth" the idle sound) and wait a few seconds. The factory LS1 cam has little to no lope at idle. If there is lope at idle, you may already have an upgraded cam. But at any rate I heard you say you went with a BTR stage 3 cam kit, so once the old cam comes out, look at the end of the cam and see if there are specs like valve lift and/or valve duration engraved. I went with a BTR stage 1 cam, dual valve springs and titanium retainers along with upgraded GM rocker arms plus all the other stuff that comes with the various kits. All from Michigan Motorsports. Oh, yeah don't cheap out on the hydraulic lifters. I went with Johnson slow leak down lifters on my LS1 build. If they're too pricey, go with GM LS7 lifters or nothing else really. Lots and lots of cam failures happening all over because of people installing cheap no name lifters and bad cam cores. You should be better off in the "long run" and a few more hundred dollars in the build won't matter over the course of you owning and enjoying the car.
Idk if you’ll respond but if I bought and unmodded c5 base or z06 it’s more just what I find thats unmodded than anything because I’d like to mod it myself but no engine mods except an exhaust and Intake. How do you think it would daily drive, I don’t mine sound or anything mainly just ok ish gas mileage good reliability and being semi comfortable. From what I’ve seen it meets all these criteria but I figure I might as well ask someone who would know very well.

Beautiful car, once I'm done building my Camaro I think a C5 is the next car. Also idk about you but the stock C5 rims are very nice, I have them on my 02 camaro and I personally love them.
Give that thing some black rims, a good supercharger and a duck tail spoiler an it will look great (and give it a lot more FREEDOM🦅🦅🦅 so the gears are not too long anymore)
Head / cam / headers / buy used set of Z06 wheels / carbon fiber steering wheel / upgrade stereo / paint correct it .... all to that C5 ! I just sub'ed
Def a good list there to start with. I would also flush the brake fluid, check the tire date just in case they need to be replaced and add a fast intake and throttle body to your list.
The fuel cap button got me too when I bought my C5 lol. Beautiful purchase dude, I bought my silver '02 A4 about 2 months ago and it's been really good to me. Enjoy the car! definitely going to sub.
