The tap water in 99.999999% of the USA is perfectly safe. 🙂 Yes, maga who may be reading this, even in the liberal areas, such as big cities (especially in the big cities) it is perfectly safe.
You absolutely can drink it straight from the tap and nothing bad will happen to you.
But personally, I greatly prefer the taste of it after it has passed through a filter. 🙂Another huge advantage of a water filter that you place in the refrigerator, or drinking from the tap in the refrigerator (which is also filtered) is that it will be cold. But that's cultural, Europeans seem to like warm drinks. In the USA (and Mexico and Canada, I believe), most of us prefer them cold. 😃
Andre -- bottled water is quite common over here as well....it's just personal preference. Personally I use a reusable bottle and fill it with filtered tap water. 🙂

Felicia is always taking her experiences from living only in Cincinnati, and thinking it's the same all over the USA. Tap water is perfectly safe to drink almost everywhere in the US. In a few places it may have slight an odor or taste, but it's hardly "most of the tap water" like she says. I guess Cincinnati has particularly poor tasting tap water. Where I live in New York City, our tap water has won many rankings for its excellent quality and good taste. I never use a filter or bottled water at home.

Turning right at a red light is like stopping for a stop sign. You still have to stop (to be legal). You can only turn right. In many places you can only turn from the furthest right lane. The reason this is fine is because while the traffic light is green for the people going across in front of you, nobody is turning left from the opposite side. That means the only directly you have to worry about is left. If no cars are coming from the left, it is safe to turn. For people from countries that drive on the left, they have to imagine being able to turn left on red, if they want to imagine how it works.

Walmart is a "super center" that sells retail goods (clothes, toys, household, automotive, paint etc) and groceries. You can do so at a red light after 2 things--a complete stop is made, and the traffic in the right lane you are turning onto is clear of traffic coming from the left, or the traffic is far away enough for you to have time to turn. For countries that drive in the left lane, the equivalent rule would be turning left on red with the same conditions. It keeps traffic flowing so the roads don't get over congested, especially in more populated areas like cities.

She is absolutely and utterly WRONG about walls being built of masonry being less "transparent to temperature" and so on. Modern American houses use batts of fiberglass insulation between the framing of exterior walls that gives a very high "R" value (that is, they are very NOT transparent to temperature.). Also roofing materials can matter. My house in Arizona has a roof of plastic foam covered with a white elastomeric compound. Together they reflect 98% of solar energy hitting the roof keeping the inside of the house cool even without the air conditioning turned on.
Also, in earthquake country where I also live part of the year, masonry construction is dangerous. It can and does collapse on you in a quake. It is the opposite of "stable".
Regarding guns, if there were none in the US, she would be just as much at risk of being assaulted or robbed at knifepoint. She's been away from Germany a long time. I believe the risk of crime in the US has a lot more to do with ethnic and cultural diversity than it does with the presence of guns and Europe is becoming much more diverse than it used to be due to immigration. The simple fact is that there are groups in the US that are prone to crime (I won't define them here). Europe has different groups but, for example, most Parisians will tell you the "banlieues" are less safe than other parts of their city.

@leahmollytheblindcatnordee3586 but they don't kill as many people as quickly as a gun/ar15 can. There is a big difference in what it takes psychologically to beat a person to death when that person is at arms length from you and what it takes to pull a trigger and shot someone across the room or street from you. If we had a "safe" gun culture in this country, people wouldn't be parading around the streets with rifles to intimidate people whose ideas differ from their own, or talking about not being able to wait for the new civil war, or going to movies with guns in their pockets or purses. I know for a fact that I don't feel safer when a 50 year old woman starts giggling and announces to her companion that she has just brought a loaded gun into a crowded movie theater. Now I have to worry about the possibility of a deranged mass shooter and the certainty of at least one, in this case it was 2, her companion was packing, too, silly people who think they are going to shot at the first thing that looks suspicious to "protect" themselves. I once stopped an aquintance from running inside to get a gun because two black guys were selling magazine subscriptions. In the 1970s during the oil embargo, there was a large shortage of gas. People realized that they were wasting precious gas sitting at a light when there was no traffic coming. So, the law permitting right turn on red was enacted. Things to remember- The OTHER traffic has a green light so they have the right of way. If there is an accident the person turning right is to blame. Basically, it is a form of a yield sign. If no one is coming, then you can turn right. Some roads have 3 or more lanes. Usually if you are going straight in heavy traffic, avoid the right lane. All it takes is one person going straight to stop all the people turning right. Some areas have light traffic and this isn't a problem. ALSO- some cities and some intersections have a sign that says. "NO TURN ON RED" Then you have to stop.

Most of this information is fairly accurate. It's older people who use checks, though. Well, them and government agencies.
The biggest difference between the US and European countries is the power of state and local governments. We do have federal laws that supersede state laws, but each state has its own laws, constitution, judiciary, legislature, etc. There are very few federal systems for infrastructure and agencies, which is why there is so much variety in water quality, gas and electric grids, healthcare, public services, etc.

Part of the reason for the continued use of checks is that without a physical or photocopy of a canceled check, a person in the USA has no legal proof that a payment has been made. Thus, a rental agent can evict a person for non-payment even if they have been paying electronically because financial institutions are under no legal obligation to produce and generally refuse to provide ANY electronic payment records. So many businesses continue to use checks as legal proof of payment for many activities.

Buying water is a common thing here in the US. But also using a filter too. The tap water is also safe in the US. Folks tend to use a filter to add an extra layer of protection to what they drink. After all, water from the treatment plant is probably going to be safe and taste okay, but in many places, especially the older cities, pipes may be older and might get a few unwanted things. There's also some places that add additional minerals and things into the drinking water, such as fluoride, and some people don't want to consume that in their water. So filters are often used. Another use for filters is if you live in an area that might suffer from power outages from something like a hurricane. I am originally from New Orleans and having a filter available during a storm is always a good idea just in case it's needed. There's also water delivery services where 5 gallon water bottles are delivered to home or to a business.

About using paper plates and disposable utensiles in Amerian Homes during say, Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner has a unique reason. Cleanup after a holiday meal can take a handful of hours and supreme effort for those of us with arthritis in our hands. By using paper and plastic, it cuts down on the dishes and cleanup tme considerably, where we can enjoy the holidays without too much pain and countless hours of washing dishes the day after. Of all of her videos, this is the one that I had the most disagreement. This one felt like a real reach to me on a few topics.
Nearly everywhere I've lived, the tap water has been excellent. I never write checks and receiving one is rare and is usually a result of a refund on an over payment or refund on something. I've transferred money by bank transfer a lot. She's correct about the ATM drive-thrus. They are everywhere, especially in the suburbs. Personally, this is another one of the things that I don't typically do, but I live in a walkable area and my local bank branch doesn't have a drive-thru. I've never punched a hole in the wall, and I've never lived anywhere that someone has. I've never shot a gun, or lived in a home with any sort of gun at all, and I didn't grow up with very conservative parents. I don't feel unsafe when I walk at night, and I'm not paranoid about violence.
Turning right on red is treating an intersection like it has just a stop sign instead of a light. FWIW, just because you can turn right on red, you don't have to.
I'd say that most Americans use disposable plates and cutlery for outdoor events in the way she describes for Germany, large parties, etc. I think it's overblown to infer that many Americans are using disposables regularly.

B. it might be a laziness factor. the person (people) don't want to constantly wash dishes, so they buy paper ones instead. C. even small family gatherings might use paper plates because it's easier cleanup later on. OR there might not be enough plates for everyone there. D. it could be a sanitation issue. if their dishwashing machine is broken, they might be using paper to dispose of them instead of not being able to wash and sanitize them. First of all to my knowledge as an American, all tap water is safe to drink in America in every State. I live in Illinois and we drink water straight from the tap with no filter. However many many people prefer to buy bottled water or have a filtration system on their tap water just because I think it makes them feel like their water is extra safe or because they don’t want the chemicals that are in the water to clean the water or they just don’t like the taste of the water because it’s well water. I love well water and we drink ours straight from the tap but I know many people who buy water or who have filtration systems on their water from the tap.
I’m sorry but you can’t believe everything this girl says. Water is safe to drink in the USA and if it isn’t due to bad pipes underground or something then they notify you that you can’t drink the water or need to boil it til they get the water issue fixed.

You don't build with bricks in California or the whole West Coast. Wood framed houses sway a little in earthquakes, but bricks just fall in on you. The wood frame also has X shaped diagonal braces that really hold the whole thing together. And the space between the outer skin of the building and the wallboard usually has high efficiency insulation. The junior high school I went to in 7th grade was made of brick. We moved to San Diego and when I went to visit friends back in my old home town, the junior high school had been torn down and replaced with earthquake resistant buildings. Ditto with freeway bridges, ALL of them had to be reinforced to a much higher earthquake standard. On the other hand, in the Midwest, with tornados so common, building with brick is a really strong and common choice. The East Coast has a lot of brick. Helps with the hurricanes. By the way, there is a huge difference in wallboard but very thin cheap crap and very thick but expensive. You won't accidently punch a hold in the thick stuff.
Water... a lot of areas, especially in the Desert Southwest, have water high in mineral content. Then the government dumps in chloride (via hydrochloric acid) to kill bacteria, and fluoride (hydrofluoric acid) (helps with teeth, but too much will stain your teeth yellow). Nobody really knows what the best level is. WE are the long term study! Anyway, most of the filters remove the chlorine or fluoride odor, but don't remove the minerals. I use one that remove the minerals. I hate bottled water that has "minerals added to taste." They also are using high levels of UV light to kill bacteria and lowering the chlorine levels.

I’m 37 years old I live 10 minutes from the Ohio border. I’ve never written a check in my life.
Also yes guns are very much apart of our culture I myself don’t own any but the way the world is going…. I been shopping around lol. No you did not say anything wrong by the way
turning right on red is super simple. You stop at the red light as usual and if cars are coming, obviously you’re not gonna go because you don’t want to be hit. but if there are no cars coming, you have the option to turn on red if you want

23:50 In US, we drive on the right side so turning right is the safest turn to make. So turning right on RED, you only have to one direction if it is safe to turn. Some states also have a blinking LEFT if it is considered a "safe" intersection. If an intersection is considered "unsafe" then you will not be allowed to turn RIGHT either on RED.
