Chris did it well when the knife suddenly popped into his hands. I like what he did. :) But he's good as a first timer, really... and Paul's a very good teacher, undeniably.
Oh! Hubud ❤️❤️ That rib cage is screaming "hit me"!!😆 When the basic is flowing, u start looking for openings to poke, hit, stab etc. It's a really fun training drill, with endless opportunity 👍 Love to both, from 🇧🇻.
Chris did an awesome job considering it's his first time. I'd be going: heah, could u show me that again. Can be confusing the first time one trains in Hubud Lubud especially if one tries so hard to grasp the techniques. Kudos for vid. Anticipating next one.
Man, this is a great little drill, great foundational skills. But with more martial/kali experience... there are sooo many avenues and options at every part of that I see that it can lead into. Very nice little bit of 'kit' so to speak. Great training, guys.
Nice Greetings from Germany ! Sorry for my bad Englisch ! One littel Tip for You if you training with an Dagger is better you grip the Dagger in a other way ! Look to the V42 Fighting Kinfe called Devils Brigrade in the WW 2 the Part for the Thump teach you an Grip for Very Powerfull Parade ( Blocking ) Movments very smal Ankels , fast like the Lightnig Attacks and an increbidel Powerfull Impact the same Strategie ist for the Famous Geber Mark 2 ! Have Fun by the Training ! Sorry for my bad Englisch ! Andy ( Andreas) Kommoß from Germany ! I started my Eskrima ,Kali , Arnis bevor i go to the German Army in the 80 and a lot of other Techniks
Chris did fantastic. Great drill to cover. We initially train this drill with the knife, and call it the bad arm, or “oh shit” drill, since it’s such a good panic/gross motor skill response. Applications cover the gamut. Great off of the loopy hook, with opportunities for numerous locks.
did a great job! I learned it 25 years and it was the hard thing to get. I had trouble trying to loosening and getting my movments to flow. He is a little stiff but I think he is starting to flow
great video and great job by both! This stuff works in some situations. In a boxing match, I am skeptical of this working but maybe someone like Lomachenko who already likes to tear down boxing guards will find this technique from FMA. For me personally, it worked once in a self defense situation (we had been drilling this same technique in a JKD class I was going to) Bad guy went to grab me by the collar with his right hand and for some reason the technique just took over but I finished it with a right cross that broke his nose and ended the confrontation. Maybe it was a bit too much but the moment someone tries to put their hands on you I feel these sorts of things are not only useful but justifiable.
Correction, ….I voiced in my comment. I didn’t proofread it. I was saying, I noticed he was using a overhand grip on the elbow when you were showing him a underhand grip by the end of the lesson I see he converted it back to the underhand grip I think it was a wonderful lesson I liked your video. I subscribed to your channel you have a fan good work.👍🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾
Iron bone? You mean iron palm training. Had to do it along with qigong for almost 5 years, Muay thai calls it "cortical remodeling" Regardless, need to have Dit Dat Jow to heal the fractures.
Chris, you did a good job! Paul this was a great video. I'd like to see a hubud lubud video from you that demonstrates hubud lubud from angle 2 and using double sticks. Thanks!
Why are you not absorbing the strike with maybe a bong sao or pak sao while turning the body with the strike absorbing the energy with the two follow ups. Just curious why this would be good for a beginner?
I think your partner is doing good. He’s a little stiff, that will work itself out, and due time during the technique after the blocks, you were controlling the elbow or the arm with a underhand grip he’s controlling it with an overhead grip he’s changing the technique. If you watch the video, you’ll see it but overall, I think it’s a good lesson, and you will get my thumbs up👍🏾🙏🏾

Love the way it transitions from empty hand to knife to stick

Way to go Chris 👏 👏 👏 👏
This is one of my favorite drills. We called it Block, Pass, Pin. I think it is the number one drill for working empty hand and weapons techniques.
Chris has come a long way
Nice I would like to use these in panantucan! Do you have a video with a ton of flows
Thank you for the great video. This helped me to further understand the concepts of hubud, and also explain it. Great job Chris.
Good job Chris.
Thank you for all that you teach. ❤
Ottimo lavoro, mi ricorda le basi del Kali, qui in Italia, oltre 25 anni fa.
Nice work guys 👍
Great job Chris Thanks again Paul

Thanks. Yes, there are a few different ways to do this drill. Each has their purpose.
Perfect
Novice here, is gunting something that can result in a two hand lock? 2:48
Hi! If I want to learn kali, what do I need to learn first? Is this part of it?
Excellent! :)
This is good is real life street fight offense and defense.
Iron bone? You mean iron palm training. Had to do it along with qigong for almost 5 years, Muay thai calls it "cortical remodeling" Regardless, need to have Dit Dat Jow to heal the fractures.
Im 52, healthy and lift, so can i still learn this?
Yes, you can learn this!
Chris, you did a good job! Paul this was a great video. I'd like to see a hubud lubud video from you that demonstrates hubud lubud from angle 2 and using double sticks. Thanks!
Chris was still having trouble maintaining control of Paul's arm, with his bent arm, while palming Paul's elbow at the same time
¡Gracias!
Doing good
Why are you not absorbing the strike with maybe a bong sao or pak sao while turning the body with the strike absorbing the energy with the two follow ups. Just curious why this would be good for a beginner?
This 1 technique out of many many options.
Nice 👍
Not sure about hubud and lubud. Is it hubad and lubag? In Bisaya "hubad" = means to disintangle to untie; "lubag" means to twist.
Can you start with a parry or do you always stop the attack?
Yes, version two is pass (parry)
@@kalicenter thanks

10 of 10 for the disciple. if he goes like this he will be a sifu in 6 months.
When we do hubud we pass above the elbow
cool
Why I should trap it at the end of the drill, if I could hit your face? 🤔
Nice greet's from Germany
In that case, why do any of these drills anyway?
Coolll!!!
The more I learn the more I realize there is no men this is great
It’s spelled as HUBAD, LUBAD
x
Iron arm
Iron Body
The guy in the light blue shirt is putting his hands behind his back, and also leaning forward. Not good.
Because I'm a gentleman.
