I'd love to see more on how you are treating her arthritis. I think it's important for bunny owners to know how to take care of their bunbuns when their older!
aww this is so cute! Quick question: is arthritis super common with senior rabbits? Do most get it? What other conditions are common with older rabbits?
I dont think it's super common but it can happen, especially in older rabbits like you said and rabbits that have problems with their legs, for example my bunny is going to be prone to arthritis because she had to have surgery on her back leg to fix a break just above the knee. Its definitely something to watch out for as they get older, and obviously if you see them in any discomfort or pain take them to the vet to get a professional opinion on it and get possible treatment
I don't know how common it is however based on my specific rabbits, both Mocha and Lulu had arthritis. Mocha's arthritis never advanced as much as Lulu's, simply because he didn't live as long. Lulu's arthritis didn't need treatment until about the age of 9. A lot of pets who are at the end of their life span can have issues with arthritis. I don't think all rabbits would get as severe as Lulu though.
I am so happy to see this! Given my previous suggestions, you know what a big heat proponent I am for arthritis treatment! This is an outstanding idea to get her away from cold drafts. Yay, Hailey! And yes, would love to see your video on heat therapy!!!
It's so sweet how every decision you make benefits your rabbits in the best possible way. You always have their needs in mind. This is such a great idea for Lulu to stay warm and comfortable! 💕
I also live in Wisconsin! I’m feeling the breeze just as much as you and your bunnies are 🥶 I already made adjustments to make sure my bunny is warm this winter. Stay warm!
It would be great if you could get a better mic setup. Your voice is extremely sharp - plus you're always speaking Very Loud : so much that it is hammering off the walls of the room you're in. don't get me wrong... I really like your content... but I dread the audio and I hesitate to click on your videos many times because of it..... A way to solve this is to use a separate recorder for your audio that you can use with a lavalier mic that can clip on your collar. you do Not need to have audio direct to your video recorder. Just grab a small digital audio recorder and then take the audio from that into your video editing software and everything will line up find. I used to do this a lot in really loud convention shows so we wouldn't have to hassle with the microphone cord. the whole set-up should only cost maybe 50 to $80. Then you won't have to speak as loud and you'll have better overall audio quality
As a person who lives with arthritis I agree with warm room being a awesome idea for Lulu. I hate winter and cold. Yea its pretty, but all this cold makes me so stiff and ... cold :D
i would love to hear about how u manage ur daily time while still making time to spend with the buns. i have 2 rabbits however they’re separated bc one prefers to be alone and is significantly olde(8). i have a hard time keeping up w everything and just wanna make sure both rabbits get a lot of time with me and are happy and healthy!
We use a spare bathroom as our bunny room too. It’s supposed to be a master bathroom. But the room that’s meant to be a master is my 9m olds bedroom, so she dose not need the bathroom
I just recently rescued a rabbits from my cousins. They rarely fed her and she is very skinny. I took her to the vet and they said that I should just be feeding her more and try to get some weight on her as soon as possible. I feed her 1/2 scoop of pellets a day along with unlimited hay and about a half a cup of veggies and fruits. Are there any foods you would recommend to help her gain weight quickly? Thank you so much! Btw, I absolutely love her new rabbits room. Hopefully it helps with her arthritis!
You could try giving her alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay until she gains weight. With alfalfa pellets though you should probably only feed 1/4 cup a day. Also feeding *small* portions of vegetables/fruits that are higher in calories such as: peppers oats (yes i know this isn't a vegetable) apples carrots parsnip sweet potato could help
I love your channel! I just found it and I have no idea how I survived without your channel! I want a rabbit probably won't get one but watching your channel just makes me happy! Keep on the good work Hailey
Love to see what you are doing for the rabbits. It's good to see that you are always thinking of ways to make things better for them. I have two rabbits and I try to keep what you do in mind. Thanks so much.
What does it mean when your bunny lays down on its tummy with its legs tucked under it? My bunny has blankets to snuggle in so I don’t think he’s cold, but he’s been doing this a lot lately.
Your bunny might just prefer to loaf. My bunnies do this quite a bit too. It’s kinda like sitting instead of laying down, it doesn’t mean your bunny is cold it might just be how he prefers to lay
I got a mini panic attack seeing you clean the toilet without any gloves.... Then you mentioned you never use it. One day I will make my bunnies a room such as awesome as your’s room 👏🏼 Great inspiration
Yeah! Haha! The bathroom had been cleaned a few weeks before because we had a house inspection and no one had used it since then. So I basically was just wiping off dust hahaha!
I never clean my own toilets with gloves, it's my germs/waste. When I worked in Maintenance I always cleaned with gloves no telling what other people may carry, but I know my health.
I don't own a bunny, but I love your channel. It is clear you love your rabbit, and she is well cared for. I wish you many happy years to come with her. I don't ever plan on owning a rabbit, but it is clear how much you both love each other. Happy Birthday Lulu, come on 11 :)
I hope Lulu feels better after being moved into the bathroom ❤️ You’re such a selfless pet parent. I just binged on your other channel’s videos about your health, I hope you’re doing well, you look great and you look like you’re moving around ok. I don’t even know you but sometimes I’ll be eating buttered noodles and I’m like huh, I wonder how Haley and the bunnies are doing! Lol
My dear Nuki is almost 10 years, but she is not walking n lost weight, I feel so bad, like a worst person, cuz I just wanted her to live longer n happier
The bathroom is where my bunny is kept when he's not free roaming. And his favourite place is right by the register too. We have a blanket close by and it's one of his flopping spots.
Do you have any advice to distract bunnies from chewing on items they shouldn't? My Charlie is 7 years old and i've never found a solution. I have a fleece blanket covering a large rug, but no matter how many toys, chews, etc. he ends up chewing and eating his blanket and the carpet.
Her new room looks very comfortable! Probably a red light lamp could help her - I don't know if it is the right english word; it's a lamp with red light under which it is warmer and I know that here in Germany a lot of people use it for their older rabbits. Do you want to close the door to the bathroom most of the time to keep her warm? If yes, I think it would be very boring for Lulu, hearing nothing but herself and seeing the same surroundings the whole time without possibility to take part in your everyday life. I don't want to be rude and I know that you take good care of your bunnies, but my 4 buns love to see us and to hear sounds, see new things usw. They are very curious :D
I have two 25W heating pads, made for small animals. Both buns are outside in their hutch for now, but the older girl loves the heat pad. I use one to set the water crock on so it doesn't freeze. The other one goes under the straw in the sleeping compartment. She's on it all the time right now cause it's cold in PA.
Wait did she just say Wisconsin! I have been a subscriber for a year now lol. I feel like there are not many people here in Wisconsin that have good pet bunny care there are a lot of breeders some responsible and some are not good at all I have mini rex and mini lops I am a responsible rabbit breeder I also don't breed them much I just started showing bigger shows
Marry Liz I’m just going to do a quick sum of basic stuff DIET 80% grass hay (Timothy) 15% fresh veggies (house rabbit society has a safe list) 5% hay based pellets and treats (Many brands are great pellets, but just no seeds, buts or processed junk. Best treats are fruits) SUPPLIES Hay Veggies Enclosure ( at least 12 square feet and indoors) Toys (best are non treated wood, willow, tp rolls, or baby toys.) Cardboard box great place for them to hide and chew at Litter box ( big enough for them to spin around in) Litter (Pine pellets, paper based bedding, or Cedar Shavings) Grooming supplies (brush, comb, and nail clippers) Emergency kit (she has a video on it) Pellets Treats Water bowl ( bunnies can get de hydrated from bottles Carrier A bunny friend ( bunnies are happier with a safely bonded rabbit) Vet( make make sure one is close for emergencies and to fix them NEVER Bathe them Unnecessarily pick them up And a lot more things I can’t remember 😅 Buy from backyard breeders (adopt don’t shop) HAVE FUN! Tell me if you have any questions!
I agree with @crazybunny lady. Though I'd like to add that - 1. Be patient with your bunny. Each bunny has its own personality 2. Make sure you are ready for a commitment of 7 to 10 years. Btw I make funny nd cute bunny videos, do check if you can ❣️❣️
Bon weekend.
Haley, You, in my opinion are the best BunTuber out there!!! You take care of your rabbits so well, and I really am inspired by that! My rabbit, Camille(or Millie for short) has been getting the best treatment because of me watching your channel! She is a healthy 2 3/4 years old and I thank you for posting these videos!
At the beginning I was like wait what’s going on is she living in the shower 😂😂❤️
I'd love to see more on how you are treating her arthritis. I think it's important for bunny owners to know how to take care of their bunbuns when their older!

The likelihood increases the older the rabbit gets. Poor eyesight is another condition that increases with age.
Arthritis is very common in elder rabbits.
You're an amazing bunny mama ^^

It's so sweet how every decision you make benefits your rabbits in the best possible way. You always have their needs in mind. This is such a great idea for Lulu to stay warm and comfortable! 💕
Pro tip: watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Harrison Westley Yea, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :D
That is actually a good idea moving Lulu into the bathroom. She looks happy and it’s nice how you considered her arthritis! Good job 👍

Kinley Lewis you could try supplementing her normal grass hay with some alfalfa hay to help her put weight on more quickly
Fruit should be given as a treat, as it is high in sugar. Veggies should be given daily. Other than that, your bunny sounds lucky!
You could try giving her alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay until she gains weight. With alfalfa pellets though you should probably only feed 1/4 cup a day. Also feeding *small* portions of vegetables/fruits that are higher in calories such as:
