This video is an authentic treasure! By far, one of the most useful videos that I've ever seen on Power BI (If not THE most) Thanks so much!!
THANK YOU. I have tried this so many times in so many different ways and this was such a simple and beautiful solution.
One of the most effective and helpful videos of Power BI! Well done and thank you! :)
You have solved so many of my issues with this simple video.
huge thanks :)
Thank you very much for sharing. This really helped me a lot, I had this problem for a week until I found this video. Well explained compared to other similar videos! 👍
Stated many times below. This is the only solution that actually works when comparing periods.
Amazing video! Thank you for explaining so clearly, it saved my life
coomparison between years is standard reporting practice, hence, there should an easy function to handle this

What if I want to show the total sales of 2019 and total sales of 2017 seperately as two different visuals and a result table that gives me the difference between the two years. Any video available for this ?
Great. Will use this idea for sure. Thanks a lot.
Hello, my main date table gives me a hierarchy ( year, quarter, month). However after creating the comparison table, the hierarchy switches from main date table to Comparison table. I want year, month ,quarter for comparing. But my main date table loses hierarchy after creating comparison table. Could you please help me out? Will be waiting to hear from you soon. Thanks
Thanks for the vedio. Can i please check, if you want to add a % change to the table ex: current year vs previous year, how would you go about eliminating the range of non existing perior of the current year, from the past period. Would that not be the true comparison?
I.e. If its 2019 March, I would like to compare like for like - 2019 March vs 2016 March. You are currently (i assume in this video) comparing at 11:02min 2019 and 2016 - but 2019 is not yet finished so it is not like for like.
Is it possible to have a stock snapshot, with two dates with two cumulated Stock measures. Then take the stock average between period?
Hi. Im doing the hierarchy level (Year & month & Date). How do i write the dax for the title?
Thxx
If we are updating the "Calendar" table in the future, does the "comparison calendar" table updates as well?
depends how you create the comparison calendar. if you ref the main calendar in PQ, then yes
Nice sharing. I encountered a problem when using month as the 1st column replacing Category column. The Compasion Sales only shows YTD as one number, not by month.
What if I wanted to compare rates by population for a single state in a fact table against rates by the whole for the whole country (not all others). I have already calculated the rate measure. Thanks
Great video
Vids are the way to go ;)
is there anyway to do that without making a comparison table? im trying to not bloat the data
Nice tip! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you so much! :)
can we do this in metric visual?
great video
Very useful! Thanks.
very cool, thanks
THANK YOU!!!!!
You saved me!
Good guide but the comparison table doesn't work by month, just shows the whole year.
