Finally off work and can comment! Another phenomenal video brother! The SXB Skullcrusher is my favorite from the Tops lineup. Like I stated before, EJ Snyder is a good friend of mine and he told me the level of abuse he put the SXB through during the prototype testing phase. The man put a ton of thought and trial and error into that blade long before it ever went to market. Once again it proves that it's NOT the design / designer. It's how Tops heat treats their blades. Tops is doing people a huge disservice by not investing in better heat treatment. And higher quality steels. An SXB Skullcrusher in something like CPM 3V or Magnacut would be a force to be reckoned with. Especially with proper heat treatment. Huge props to EJ Snyder for the SXB outlasting any other Tops knife. Awesome job! And a huge shout out to Joe X for once again taking a blade to the absolute limits and fighting off wicked mosquitoes for our enjoyment! Well done brother get some sleep now! 😁🤘
@@joex keep up the amazing work Joe! Thank you again for the excellent content and grueling punishment on these blades! People need an eye opener to know what they are getting into for every knife!

First of, Thank you Joe for your efforts. You take knives to extremes very few of us will ever take them. In all fairness, any steel hardened and tempered with be more brittle, no escaping that. 👍 The fun never ends.... For the average user, this knife will not be a disappointment. A lot of boards can split that's for sure. The saw on the back is an unnecessary addition that should be eliminated in the following versions and send Joe x to destructest again. I recommend adding a container with oil to the package. I was hoping you’d get around to testing this knife. Well done Joe X. My biggest complaint about Tops knives is RUST. I was shocked at how fast it rusted. I contacted Tops and they said surface rust is ‘user error’ and not covered under warranty.
You really put muscle into this destruction! By the time the handle was loose, it had survived ten lifetimes of abuse. Knives with saws always break on the saw. Is the blade a hollow grind? I would have expected it to break there. It got easy mode el bricko treatment with the slaps all happening towards the end of the blade. But then the spine lasted long enough on the rod (when it went to the rod I expected it to be done in just a couple hits on the spine, not nearly two dozen) to show it probably would have managed to make it through the brick anyway. Seems solid enough, so probably the best from Tops yet. I certainly expected less from 9" of 1095 with so much weight forward on the blade and a narrower base of the blade/ricasso area.
Great test! It actually did a lot better than I thought it would (a lot better than the Operator 7). The blade design with the narrower part and saw edge was bound to give way with the iron rod which is always a problem with that particular design.

@@ArchimantisTF I watched a tour of the Tops knives facility. Their “heat treat guy” openly admitted he “eye balls” the heat treat process. Heat treating a knife requires strict protocols for heat time and quenching. You don’t “eye ball” heat treating a knife. That explains why the skull crusher has such large grain structure. Poor heat treat.
with what I've seen from this video, I'd say that would be an ideal survival blade, it can cut, chop and stab, and can survive all the un typical stressors shown in the video. most likely in a survival situation, the blade would be used for chopping and cutting wood and animal carcasses, including bone. Maybe zombies, and structure building materials like cordage , plasics, fibers etc. So, Id buy this blade.
