I have been using Gamvar Varnish for several years and it is not toxic nor does it have any fumes. Gambling Paints worked to together with the National Gallery of Art to produce non toxic and odorless varnishes and other materials used in oil paintings. Check your references a bit more carefully. I highly recommend Gamblins Products for safety and quality. BIRGIT SEEGER-BROOKS
Thanks a lot for sharing your talent. It's really a big help for people who are just beginning to explore their talents in painting like I do. oh! And I so love the view, the beauty of God's creation :) God bless you, Tim!
Hello from California. Tim very beautiful painting. I paint the sides of my painting too. That way if I don't buy a frame the painting looks completed!
I use this product and it usually looks amazing on smaller paintings, but my problem is when I varnish large paintings. My eyesight is so bad that I can't tell if the varnish is even until it dries the next day. I do try to work it all over the surface but Im not sure if it's my brush or if I leave it up until it dries.
awesome...that view from your balcony looks like one of your paintings! you live in the city and its really just a mural isnt it? haha a great spot to get inspiration!
natural turpenoid natural is great too. it cleans and conditions a brush, also non toxic and fairly safe for the environment. will even clean dry oil paint off a brush if u soak it over night a few times until the paint comes off.
Gambol but, I’ve used a brush with dried Gamvar on it before. Dipping it into Gamvar softens the dried on stuff and doesn’t seem to make a difference in the end. Gamvar is much more forgivable than traditional Damar varnish.
Ok friends. I need help. I varnished my painting super thin but it’s drying unevenly with some Matt spots and some shiny spots?!!!! I need help URGENTLY please!! This is super stressful.
I do 2 very thin coats. If I varnish in the evening the coats is dry to the touch in the morning. I usually wait another day and put the second coat on though I don’t know if this is necessary. Avoid thick coats. A tiny little bit goes a surprisingly long way when applying on the canvas. I used to use Windsor Newton Daymar varnish. Gamvar is so much easier.
Really like that painting. It really pops.

Thanks, great video as always. I sometimes have oil and acrylic on the canvas together. Which one would you use in that case?
Hi Tim thank you for sharing, this was very informative for me. I'd like to know how long after painting do we varnish?

+Shedz Channel You're right, its just a green screen lol :).
How do you clean the brush afterward? Mineral spirits?
Mineral spirits, gojo, then dish soap. Keeps em looking new.
Can we use any type of varnish?
Hey Tim! Are you no longer spray on varnish?
what's the dry time?
You did not talk about the the Gloss finish vs Mat finish vs Satin finish, how one would decide what to choose from....
How do you clean your brushes from oil paint? Did you do video on that?
+Jadra Sibenik The way I do it is by wiping off any access paint and oil in a rag, then use soap and water until it runs clear.
+Alexander King Thank you!! :)

Mine says its orderliness
Hi Tim just wondering if you prefer Gamvar gloss vs Satin how do you choose?
I prefer satin in most instances. I'm not big into really really shiny. I like a nice sheen.
Is wise to use gamvar as a medium? Aside from toxic….worse than turpentine?
Thx a lot.
A question : how do you clean your brush after varnishing? Mineral spirit? Water?
JP Dana Gamsol. (I saw it on another video,😂)

Can you put Gamvar Gloss on a Acrylic paintings?
Yes
Do you recommend oiling it out first. ?
I oil out sunken in areas as much as needed before varnishing. Varnish generally won’t fix sunk areas of a painting, especially in very dark passages.

Remove the varnish. Then oil out your painting. Then reapply varnish. There are steps on Google to explain better.
@@KazuneSorrow Thanks Bonnie, I tried that, and while it did help, it didn't really fix the issue. I'm afraid it's unfix-able.
How long does it take to dry?

All I can think is, why does that tree have foliage and Blossoms on the top and not on the bottom? It makes no sense.
Keep those birds away from that gorgeous painting! 😉
so glad they made a satin version. otherwise it can look too glossy.
