The fact that a former Democrat mayor and a current Republican congressman could sit in an interview and basically say the same thing about the same topic without resorting to name calling and arguing shows that peaceful discussions can be had between politicians with opposing views.

The only political party that's had 19 of its members expelled from Congress, 3 for corruption and 16 for treason. The party of the Klan. The party of Jim Crow laws. The party that unanimously voted against the 15th Amendment. The party of raging racists like Wallace, Johnson, Duke and Byrd. The party that now embraces communism but hides behind the socialist veil while attempting to change the laws that prevent them from coming out of the closet. (California Assembly Bill AB22 - 2017)
While you're explaining yourself, perhaps you can find the missing evidence of a flip.
Your party started a war that killed over 630,000 Americans, just to preserve their right to own other human beings.

Obama released billions to Iran (Russia's ally) after Iran paid the Taliban for U.S. troops bounties as reported by NBC on Sep 5th, 2010 and attempted to give them access to our banking systems to circumvent sanctions after greatly expanding domestic spying via the NSA and gave guns to cartels 😂

He also was mostly honest but made one huge lie about Obamacare: "if you like your policy, you can keep it." He knew that wasn't true. He should have sold ACA saying: we're going to be giving 30M fellow citizens coverage, which isn't going to be free. Some costs will go up, but it's going to be worth it knowing our fellow citizens aren't dying of preventable deaths, suffering from curable diseases. And by having everyone insured, we're also going to be making things more efficient, so while it's going to cost, it's not going to cost anywhere near as much as you might think.

I have a white mom and a black dad. And I have lived in a majority black neighborhood a couple times throughout my life growing up and I have lived in some gentrified/kind of majority White neighborhoods also growing up. I seen the best and worst of both worlds. I know all about privileges and how some people are treated different. I understand the complexity of things. I look white looking and was labeled black at Birth. And I know what it's like to be a mixed race woman. And I know racism still exists in this country. I have seen it 20/20 every time the cops rolled pasted or pulled my dad over with me in the car and how that makes him act nervous regardless If he did or didn't have a warrant or criminal charge on him at the time or not. I know some cops do have racist View's about black people or people like me. And I have said some extreme things online in other places here on UA-cam on another Channel about things I might do if Trump got back in the White House. And on that same day 30 minutes after I made that comment the cops rolled pasted my house like 3 or 5 times and heard helicopters flying around for a while too along with that cop to. And the next day when I stepped out front I found part of a women's hair weave on the ground right where that cop rolled through a suspicious amount of times the day before. I'm now living in a majority white area and the cops don't roll down this area very often like in a black neighborhood where every single day you hear sirens from ambulance or cop cars off in the distance or flying past your house every hour or so day and night because of constant criminal activities. And I noticed two suspicious looking people a man and woman who gave off Undercover cop or FBI kind of vibes in how they acted and carried themselves like serious authority figure kind of people and some what tryed to dress casual looking. And how they kept popping up where I work and other places while I was heading home. I know they followed me around a bit for a couple of days. Maybe I'm just overly paranoid and all of this is just a strange coincidence🤷‍♀️. But I'm very good at reading people and situations. But they totally gave off undercover cop or FBI vibes😎🕴. And their popping up in my life at the time with the comment I made many days before and I put it together in my mind that those people might think I'm a possible terrorist. If they were trying to discreetly follow me they kind of sucked at their job because they did not act casually when I did spot them.

3:10 It never once crossed my mind that the term "systemic racism" implied that America was "irredeemably racist". The only thing it implies to me is that these systems must be changed. And for anyone who has wondered how it was that America came to have a for-profit healthcare system, I had a "duh"-smack-the-forehead moment when I learned it was systemic racism, the perfect example of how it hurts everyone.

Yeah, good catch. He picked that word purposefully. The word implies no hope for change, whatsoever, which is the self-sustaining fuel for opposition laws like Florida's Stop Woke Act. No one said America is "irredeemably racist." However, IMO, America is willingly racist, because a lot of people benefit from it, at the detriment of others. And this cuts both ways -- The disadvantaged can game the system, too. I think, it is human nature for those who benefit to see no need to change and would be willing to fight to maintain those benefits, even if it requires the suffering of others. By making "them" nothing like "us," doing what is "necessary" become justifiable, while easing any misgivings. That is why the true teachings of Jesus are so counterintuitive: Putting the needs of others, before my own, doesn't help me be better than you. But the thing is -- It's not about me and my selfishness, and that is the part people don't get or refuse to let go of.

@@gregoryt1139 It's kind of tricky to "game a system" that you've been locked out of. In the case of healthcare, the racism extended to a heinous degree, and it's still there. Only one of multiple racist issues was the white-perpetuated myth that black people have a higher tolerance for pain than the oh so delicate whites. The opiod crisis is perhaps the one time the racism worked in favor of blacks.
I wasn't trying to catch the guy on anything, and I don't feel he "purposefully" picked any word. I just don't know where he got that impression. The comments I've mostly seen about systemic racism are whites spinelessly trying to deny it exists.
Systemic racism adversely affects everyone, and there is not one area or institution where it doesn't exist. The problem is that hordes of whites are wilfully ignorant, wilfully uneducated, wilfully blind, and therefore don't see how they are screwing themselves in the long run, and in the short run, as well. And they're often just flat out stupid.
As for religion, all of them have some version of the Golden Rule. If people simply followed that, the only rule anyone ever needs, the world would be unrecognizable.

I was born and raised in Detroit. I can tell you that today in America you do have to be the exception to be young, black and successful. Numbers do not lie only politicians tend to lie. Pull up the numbers look at African-American men than women track how often they go to college, or track how often college graduates that are black get hired into positions, they deserve, or track financial aid that goes to minorities in America. Track any of these things and see what do the numbers say about race and higher education and success in America. If the numbers tell you race is not a factor proudly say it I can’t wait for that day but if that’s not what the numbers tell you don’t try and pretend something else is true.
When you pull the numbers and simply look at the data, you see that race is a factor when it comes to success in America. It is difficult for someone of color to make it here. I say that to someone of color who has made it and I can honestly say it wasn’t difficult for me to do so, but I was the exception I wasn’t the norm. That’s like looking at a famous black celebrity and saying will see it’s possible to make lots of money as a black person in America. That is true it’s possible but it’s not probable and that’s the problem. There are endless possibilities in America but when it comes to the actual probability of something happening, that’s when you know whether we as a nation are doing good or bad. When it comes to race in America, we’re not doing so good.
When you can run the numbers and see that Black people make less than Caucasian Americans we’re not doing good when you can run the numbers and see men make more than women on average for the same job. We are not doing so good. These are numbers that do not lie yet politicians continue to do so.

Tim Scott is completely missing the point. They didn't say you have to be the exception. They were saying that black people often have to do more or be better to get the same share of our rights. That's not saying you can't make it unless you're exceptional. You just have to understand that it's not going to be easy. There is nothing wrong with that. We should be teaching our kids that the world is no cakewalk anyway. That's not saying that everything something doesn't work out the way we want we have to blame systemic issues. That's the gaslighting of the Right. If you say anything is racial, they claim you're saying everything is racial. It's almost a shaming tactic. But President Obama is right about the left, especially on the Progressive end. Sometimes they can be just as bad as Republicans when it comes to expecting absolute agreement. There is no room for a slight disagreement. You can't question a Progressive position or even say you don't understand. Something must be wrong with you. We also don't want to understand that sometimes it's ok if white people don't "get it" or don't understand. We as black people treat each other the same way. If you disagree with what black social media, the pro-black movement, or black "new media" says there is something wrong with you. You can't even question if reparations will do what we think they will do. You can't say that you understand how people can have a misunderstanding of what defunding the police actually is. Someone can't even agree with you on a topic but it not be as an important topic to you as it is to them. When it comes to politics in America there is no longer room for discussion and intelligent discourse. We have to pick a team and ride with that team 100%. You're riding the defense or refusing to pick a side or other things of that nature. You're not allowed to see that both sides could have a valid point.

      OR...
Think whatever you want. Just do it critically and with genuine intellectual honesty.
The 5 Steps to Critical Thinking:
      What is critical thinking?
In general, critical thinking refers to actively questioning statements rather than blindly accepting them.
Critical thinking results in radical free will.
      1. The critical thinker is flexible yet maintains an attitude of healthy skepticism.
Critical thinkers are open to new information, ideas, and claims. They genuinely consider alternative explanations and possibilities. However, this open-mindedness is tempered by a healthy sense of skepticism (Hyman, 2007).
The critical thinker consistently asks, “What evidence supports this claim?”
      2. The critical thinker scrutinizes the evidence before drawing conclusions.
Critical thinkers strive to weigh all the available evidence before arriving at conclusions. In evaluating evidence, critical thinkers distinguish between empirical evidence versus opinions based on feelings or personal experience.
      3. The critical thinker can assume other perspectives.
Critical thinkers are not imprisoned by their own points of view. Nor are they limited in their capacity to imagine life experiences and perspectives that are fundamentally different from their own. Rather, the critical thinker strives to understand and evaluate issues from many different angles.
      4. The critical thinker is aware of biases and assumptions.
In evaluating evidence and ideas, critical thinkers strive to identify the biases and assumptions that are inherent in any argument (Riggio & Halpern, 2006). Critical thinkers also try to identify and minimize the influence of their own biases.
      5. The critical thinker engages in reflective thinking.
Critical thinkers avoid knee-jerk responses. Instead, critical thinkers are reflective. Most complex issues are unlikely to have a simple solution. Therefore, critical thinkers resist the temptation to sidestep complexity by boiling an issue down to an either/or, yes/no kind of proposition. Instead, the critical thinker expects and accepts complexity (Halpern, 2007).
Critical thinking is not a single skill, but rather a set of attitudes and thinking skills. As is true with any set of skills, you can get better at these skills with practice.
In a nut shell, critical thinking is the active process of minimizing preconceptions and biases while evaluating evidence, determining the conclusions that can be reasonably be drawn from evidence, and considering alternative explanations for research findings or other phenomena.
      CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS
      >Why might other people want to discourage you from critical thinking?
      >In what situations is it probably most difficult or challenging for you to exercise critical thinking skills? Why?
      > What can you do or say to encourage others to use critical thinking in evaluating questionable claims or assertions?

if there is any country where succes is based on exception, its the USA. Its not just be exceptional, but even think it. That does not mean you only can call yourself exceptional when they are a millionaire or even better, a billionaire, but the American society seem to demand that for being succesfull, you have to be exceptional. The big problem of course is which group gets the better chance to develop their exceptionality.
