There's the key: decent, sane people do NOT follow and vote for such a person. My father was a B-17 bomber pilot who held his burning plane steady until all of his crew had bailed out before bailing out himself. He and his crew were all captured by the SS. and spent the last 9 months of the war in a POW camp in Barth on the Baltic in Germany. He and two others escaped from the liberating Russians who were no longer our allies at that point. The memoir that he finally wrote is horrifying. He suffered from undiagnosed, untreated PTSD and survivors guilt right up until he died at age 92. I have never in my life hated anyone like I hate the subhuman who called McCain and Bush Sr, and would have called my father a loser.

When former military generals speak out against a political figure that is an act of desperation and patriotism. It has long been a military informal code that high ranking officers remain apolitical even after retirement. They are going against their code in a desperate attempt to save our democracy. We will see how many more follow their example and the effect it will have on the rank and file military.

I only served 3 years in the Army did my time and got out honorably. You can’t say nothing bad about another soldier that wore the uniform for 40 years especially when you wimp out on a bogus medical problem. I respect veterans for being veterans that served are country honorably.

I so admire her talks and her books. I read Illuminated Prayers daily until it seemed absorbed into my consciousness. I do however, like she said sometimes feel so fearful (PTSD) that I fall back onto focus on my own vulnerable children and situation. I think we need so many more people like her who can keep that energy up while we with PTSD pull our ourselves and our children out the wreckage that seems to have become senseless violence. There are times we need to pull back and reassess and regroup before carrying forward like zombies with our awareness.

From the U.K. I've always been aware as a Brit, who has lived in freedom and democracy, which I admit isn't perfect, that this is largely because of Britain's American allies during WW2. My heart go's out to those young Americans, who died on the beaches of Normandy and in other theatres. I find it almost unbelievable that your country's President wouldn't respect these brave men who gave their lives to prevent the Fascists taking over Europe. I haven't always agreed with American policies, but I will be forever grateful to the sacrifices Americans made, which allowed me to live a life of freedom. My concern now, is I see your great country slipping towards fascism. Democracy, freedom and a responsible and independent judiciary are the greatests gifts a nation can have. America, you are not without fault, but please, for your own sake and that of the free world, don't vote in a dictator, who would take these rights from you.

In U.K. The media, for all it's faults, is not as partisan as in the States. Their coverage of of Trump is quite objective, but tinged with disbelief at the antics of your politicians. On a personal basis, I look on aghast at ' the corruption of your political system. I don't think I'm alone in this. How the minority of extreme right wingers can hold your country to ransom is a disgrace. Trump and his acolytes are a clear and present danger to the democracy of your country. I'm sure, however, there are some in U.K. who would support Trump. Those who would support the rule of the bully. Which basically is what fascism is. As a European citizen, I have two main concerns with Trump:
1. His foreign policy is isolationist. He pulled America out of the Paris Agreement as well as the WHO. It's a possibility that Trump might pull out of (or at least back from) NATO this time.
2. Him buddying up with Putin.
Both concerns stem from the fact that we have a neighbour in the East waging war.
Then I of course empathize with Americans and their concerns with Trump.
Just find some voice records where he speaks out what he really thinks.
