- We named her Prayer. And she is desperately in need of them.
A call came in after a man saw what he thought was people dumping tires in the lot next to his. But when he got closer he found a little puppy in a crate and rushed her back to his house.
We arrived and were horrified. This little puppy was too weak to stand - emaciated and in her own filth - covered in maggots. They were all over her, eating her alive - on her head, her chest, her armpits, and between all of her toes. We rushed her to our clinic where they immediately cleaned the maggots and eggs off of her.
Her skin is macerated due to being in her feces and urine for so long. She scratched at her irritated skin and suffered. This is the worst abuse we have seen in a long time.
She is thirsty but will not eat, we're working to get her temperature up. Please pray for Prayer. Send all that is good to her to give her strength.

I am afraid waiting for the perpetrators to face God is not swift enough justice for me. I hope that Prayer's abuse receives enough exposure that those responsible are identified now, criminally charged and vilified. The monsters are currently under the radar, going about their daily lives (and probably walked past her suffering daily until they decided to dump her little broken body).

I am from St. Louis. Randy Grimm started Stray Rescue by just picking up strays on the city and caring for them himself. Now, they have grown into a big organization and have their building. Randy is a saint!

At the end of her bath she had a smile on her lips.
I lived over 30 years in St. Louis (not anymore) and was there when one dog was lucky to not get killed by being euthanized and survived, from that point on and earlier Randy Grimm became our hero, he is wunderbar and carrying and his helpers are angels too. May you be able to save more animals and people com and continue to help as well.
What a wonderful man! He knew exactly who to call. Donna is a saint, an absolute saint. Why would anyone do this to another living creature? How could you?!

Scenes like this are harder to bear when the neighbourhood was upper middle class, with properties worth a fortunes. Most people are very selfish. Thanks to that lovely man who said, "live, please live in Jesus name, live".

This is a testament to Stray Rescue. Their great work is known throughout the community. This man knew to call them for help. That only happens by reputation and community awareness. I think he was truly stunned by finding this young dog and called right away. God bless the helpers.

How could anyone leave an animal to fuffer in those conditions in their own waste no water in a hot plastic crate not to even think about the maggots! I want to throw up! There is NO doubt that when DONNA cradled PRAYER in her little yellow towel, this was the FIRST time this sweet baby girl had ever experienced being loved and cared for. Hang on beautiful girl, you are now in loving, healing hands and so many are praying for your recovery.
