It is a terrible Line but I'm surprised Wilson takes so many sacks, especially since he is pretty mobile. I'm convinced he'd still be one of the most stacked QBs wherever he played just cuz of how long he holds onto the ball and his tendency to freeze in the pocket.

The Chargers’ defense for the last couple weeks has been getting pressure on the quarterback. Their offense didn’t do much, and they didn’t have to. They’re playing a team that’s great defensively, but awful offensively

zach wilson is one of the worst starting qbs in the nfl, hes can't feel pressure, cant hold on to the ball, cant consistently hit open wr, cant make more than one read. Not hard to do well against him
The Chargers can thank their defense and special teams, not the offense which was pretty pathetic. Herbert was under pressure much of the time when holding the ball too long as he did, and also his poor passing to the outside. That one throw to Allen was a great catch by Allen after a poor throw by Herbert to a guy that open.
Yo I don't think Aaron Rodgers would have stayed healthy with THAT O-line. 8 sacks doesn't even begin to explain Wilson's problem.

It’s almost as if the Jets should’ve invested in their offensive line in the offseason.
They did, they got hurt. The back ups aren’t good enough to block in this scheme and the coaching staff hasn’t done enough to help with technique and ways to counter a limited offensive line. Perfect storm of problems culminating in what you saw tonight.
I have never seen a crowd, sideline, and team more miserable than the Jets from the 4 min mark on. Even the announcers were like, “Wow, this is just pathetic.” with zero filter.

Herbert hasn’t been the same since he fractured his finger and it’s effecting him greatly. But even when the offense isn’t clicking, he still shows amazing heart. Loved seeing him run the ball and get crucial 1st downs. The offense also didn’t turn the ball over.
This is what this team can do when the defense shows up to play. It’s actually amazing to watch. Credit to Staley.

I don’t think it’s effecting him that much anymore. Jets are a great defense and we’re applying the pressure. He don’t have a whole lotta time in the pocket this game. Great edge rushers and d line. This was a defensive game with Chargers special teams putting up 15 points. As soon as we fix the offensive line I feel like Herbie will come out on top

Zach Wilson can't block for himself. But when he had time to throw, he was very effective
He knows what the deal is and doesn't adapt. You can't just sit in the pocket and let it collapse on you. He's just not good outside of perfect throwing conditions.

I feel bad for Sack Wilson. He misses throws but he has a defender as a backpack as soon as they snap the ball.
His average time on sacks in this game was almost 4 seconds. That is an eternity for a QB. You can’t just say stuff like this when there are statistical measurements to prove it incredibly wrong.

+ Charger defense has stepped up and made solid defenses.
+ Dicker is money with his FGs, especially 50+ yarders.
+ Charger offense finally scored a TD in the 2nd half!
+ Staley's job is safe once again. He's a reverse Samson.
+ Chargers almost gave the Jets a free Safety (like in 2020) but it wouldn't have mattered anyway (like in 2020).
+ Chargers did well against a rookie QB and a three-year QB, but could they best Jared Goff next week?
+ Chargers used to be turnover kings but we haven't seen virtually any turnovers from the Chargers lately.

I think Zach Wilson takes way too long to make his throws, and he is also too stationery, making it easy to close him down and even sack him. If he can just make quicker throws and move some more, he will greatly improve as a quarterback.

I am a life long Jets since the Namath days, and before I watched this I already read that the Jets lost in a lopside. But Zach Wilson was not that bad. He is not good sensing and getting out of pocket collapses, but I think he is getting an unfair share of the blame. What do others think?

It may be unfair blame but that's often the case with losing QB's who only put up 6 points. He's had some good games, but usually it was the defense that really got the win. I think a good running QB like Dobbs, would have helped the Jets and it's suspect o-line. I was surprised the Jets brought in no one else before trade deadline.

Yes, the OL has issues. But the biggest issue is a QB that has poor instincts and processes really slow. Wilson just doesn't have good instincts to avoid the rush and make plays. He is a perfect example of a guy with good arm talent, but not much between the ears.
