think though, did the step-sisters really get away? before they were kicked out Kiyoko commented about making them some tea, what if she'd slipped some of the poison in there that she'd killed their mom with? its a slow acting poison so 1 or 2 doses wouldnt kill them but it would likely make them sick or weaken their immune system and then they were kicked out onto the streets with no money, living on the streets is extremely rough already but if Kiyoko had slipped them some poison then bein on the streets would basically be a death sentence.
alternatively Kiyoko did say they outsmarted her so maybe getting kicked out was intentional so they could get away from Kiyoko before she could poison them. i think their fate was intentionally left in the air for the viewer to interpret it their own way. personally i see it as the former cause this is meant to be a dark and twisted tale and the step-sisters thinking they escaped only to have that hope stolen cause of poison would be a very fitting end to the story
