This movie was just there brotherly. There was absolutely no feelings between Elo and Yagazie, infact none between him and Fiyin as well and that can be understandable if in terms of endearments, but even for being best friends, hmmm! It was so bland and blank all through. I love the adults triangle, they delivered perfectly. Chisom and his love interest Ladi, was far better, they showed connection. I particularly love that the wealth was showing in everything, cars, home, class, outfits etc. I hate when you say someone is rich in movies and it can only be seen in the living room. I totally agree with you that it’s a huge budget, virtually stimulating plus it’s rich and reeks of affluence and so based on that I will say for me it is a we watch we don’t judge/5. 😂😂😂 Fun Fact: Teniola Aladese learnt how to drive after getting the script for this movie.
I agree with your review of 4 stars. Lots of lessons in adulting and giving your heart to the right one. Loved the nuanced weaving of the diasporan Nigerians and the resident Nigerians and the relationship and perceptions they have of each through the concept of detty december. Also, they spent quite a lot of money and it showed. It was a fun but intentional film. I laughed and cried watching it. Truly sweet.
Tito u didn't mentioned that 3 different stories was going on without one interrupting another, elo and his bestie, shaffy bello character and her love triangle and elos mum hatred for Christmas, this three stories was going on and we understood all,
Might be in the minority but Shalom Obiago (Elo) was the worst part of this film for me. Sorry, his acting was so poor I literally groaned every time he was on screen. Flat expressions, flat speech, flat delivery... he recited his lines like he was reading them and nothing he did felt believable. Even the scene where he gets angry at Teni's character felt forced. What solidified my dislike was the scene where dad and Elo are decorating the tree and Ebele Okaro-Onyiuke's character finds them and has a gut wrenching reaction over her daughter's absence. I thought we were about to get some emotional output from Shalom but - nothing. It's like he just got done watching paint dry and not a mother's breakdown with how weak his emotional response was. Same flat expression, same flat delivery, same flat approach. He pulled me out of every scene he was in and I HATED it because everyone else did a great job!
@melon what if what you have written is exactly what the director wanted from him. You disliking him is a reach when you were not involved in the creative process.
@@madeinhere661 My mom said the same thing - you can tell who the seasoned actors are. I like seeing new faces in Nollywood but Elo's character was poorly cast, they could have found a better actor in my opinion.
Everything you said, the movie was an easy watch The set designs, everything and everyone just fine for this movie The choice of music again was very intentional, cos as trivial as it seems sound plays a huge role conveying emotions. Shout out to Jade
Merry Christmas Isi. 🎄 I want to but I feel like I need to review ‘Alakada: Bad & bougie’ and ‘Seven doors’ first before anything else. I’ll try my best sha. 🍻
Don’t love or hate it…script was just meh and was trying to give off ‘my best friend’s wedding’ vibes. Would give it a 2.5 just because I love Jade Osiberu. This was definitely my least fav of all her movies.
I couldn’t agree more with you with the aesthetics in the movie, I reckon the sponsors must be rich to pull all these elegance off 👌. I think Elo was just oblivious 😂😂😂
I think the movie was decent. I only have one question from a place of curiosity. I’m guessing the big artists in the movie were paid to make an appearance? In my opinion, their presence did nothing for the film. If they had the budget for this, could they not have explored a rather expansive plot ?. It almost feels like the glitz & glam aside, the plot was so simple that it just couldn’t eat up the budget.
Sounds like the PR needs to manage their press relations better. The production partners explain why it sounds like a Nigerianised version of a Hollywood movie. Those guys like to play it safe.
Yeah. I learnt the hard way. I was probably the only person on that red carpet that was a one man show. 🤦🏽♂️ Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it one day. 😉
3/5 for me tbh. Too much going on with nothing being said. Elo’s character wasn’t all that, he barely had chemistry with the ladies. Fiyin carried the other characters so much. Ivie was superb. Yagazie’s character was just there tbh. I preferred the older couples’ plot and acting. I love Eku but even her character didn’t make me laugh like other people said. Wasn’t what I was expecting overall. Cinematography, music, shots, color, decor etc was great. 3/5.
Its not a nollywood, it has a nice story but i don't think its Nigerian viewers. This is different from jade from the likes of isoken, the trade, brotherhood etc. Do i like the story yes but is the movie a must watch not really. I really love jade movies but the movie is for breath of life fans. Forgive me 😊
I couldn’t agree more with you with the aesthetics in the movie, I reckon the sponsors must be rich to pull all these elegance off 👌. I think Elo was just oblivious 😂😂😂 Loved and really enjoyed the movie ❤
First of all, I'm not a fan of Jade Osiberu or Kemi Adetiba. They both don't still know how to make a sellable movie. For them it's about glamour and elegance but poor storytelling. It's almost like all they want to show in their movies is their personal lifestyle. And some of the actors just show they are acting. It's too fake. And can they stop depicting Lagos in a way that is not. Who walks up to a convertible to rob the driver? Very funny. Dry movie as usual.
Absolutely spot on and I actually like Jade’s movies but this one wasn’t it at all. They just showcased the glitz and glamour of the nice places in Lagos
In general, this was my least favourite Jade movie. It didn't deliver on the storytelling for me. I agree with you on the scale and grandness of the production.. 10/10
This movie was too westernized for me. I expected more scenes from Lagos trenches and how Christmas looks like in those areas. Nice movie though, I'd give it 5/10
Tito not to question your integrity but this review feels like you have a slight bias for either the film itself or the team making the film. I am not sure you did a “dislike” segment for this movie

I agree with you Tito on Chisome and Ladi’ s love story, they could have shown us a bit more 😂❤

Fiyins level of delulu really blew my mind sha because what??
I loved the movie ❤
Merry Christmas. Good review. Watched it and enjoyed it

@melon what if what you have written is exactly what the director wanted from him. You disliking him is a reach when you were not involved in the creative process.
The younger cast were the worst. When you watch them and then you watch the older cast, the difference is CLEAR.

Trueeeee! The music played a pivotal role in the film. 🎶 I forgot about that. 🍻
Even though I had already watched the movie, still couldn’t wait for your review ❤😂
Merry Christmas, Tito
As usual, amazing review
Although, I didn't think it'll get up to 4 jollofs.
Merry Christmas Tito, i agree that it was certainly an easy watch.
Tito, it's been a week. Please come and do a video on the best and worst films of 2024.
Happy New Year.

Ok. 😩 Once I’ve had a bit of time to rest. 🤕😢
Ivie was Sharleen (Sabrina's sister) in Supacell.
What of Ebere Okaro's Performance?
For you to give this movie 4 jollof rice plate, I think it is due to you're invited to the premier😂😂.
Merry christmas tito
Nice review Tito , now I can watch it. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Yikes! 😬 I hope you like it. Maybe get a trusted second opinion first rather than just going by my words alone. Just to be on the safe side. 🙃
Reminds me of My Best friend's Wedding (Had Cameron Diaz in it)
Exactly with Julia Roberts
I was telling my husband this, it was a straight up naija version
Yes the self assured character of Wale Ojo was refreshing 🤌🏾. The budget of this movie must be massive. Great review as always
Merry Christmas Tito!
Merry Christmas Eniola Tito
Merry Christmas Paul! 🎄🥂

It’s one of my bad habits. 😞
If it’s not a Nollywood film then it’s what, it’s a nolly wood film that was shot properly, pls review Thinline and Alakada bad and boujie.
Red carpets are a lot and would be almost impossible for you to handle alone. Next time find a hand, I’d be willing to volunteer. Cheers

I think that was the point, though. A lot goes on in December. However, I like how they allow each story shine through
