Both Lawrence Welk and his musicians threw off a certain American vibe: innocent, professional, clean, etc. that can’t be matched today. No “look at me” type musicians. Timeless and classic.
Where did this "innocence" idea come from? These people just beat Fascism in WWII. They were far from innocent, they had just defended freedom and were taking in the best life had to offer. The current generation is just plain ignorant and stupid. (I don't mean you)

My mom and dad would settle in with us kids sitting around the zenith black/ white TV and watch Launch will Launch Welk Show. I really enjoy watching and listening to the music. He had some great singers and skits on his TV show. That was television in its prime. Unfortunately you can't find good family entertainment like that today .

Lawrence Welk was extraordinary. I don't believe his format could be recreated today. Everyone was enthralled by the magic of television.
