This Bible story always broke my heart 💔 for Tamar. Absalom as her big brother became her protector and his fury at the lack of justice from David festered into violent vengeance ☠️ to Amnon, yet the injustice continues to tear David’s family apart as Absalom plots to rebel and take over the throne and is killed. 😢 King David had many laurels in his reign but being father of the year definitely was not one of them.
You should never allow it to break your heart but bring joy to you The reason David is called the man after God's own heart is because this story lets you see how he repented his sin and never went back to it that is what made him become a man after God's own heart so even though the story is sad it was prophesied as God said and that's the glory in it David came out to be one of the greatest kings ever to have lived and his son Solomon was just as great so there are plenty blessings from these prophecies that God gave in the beginning anyway. Let us give praise to God and thank him that a man came out of this that he could say was after God's own heart. ❤ And that is the blessing that came out of this.
I always feel sorry for Absalom he reminds me of my brother. I had a 20-year-old try to do something to me when I was 12 and my brother who was 5 years older found him and beat him up while I watched as he said you know how old she is everytime he punched him in the head I never thought about it anymore but i was greatful for have a brother like mine.

The events unfolding in David's family are not just a tragedy but a lesson about how silence can destroy everything. What I’m curious about is, why did David, a man known for his wisdom in ruling the kingdom, fail to recognize the dangerous signs in his own family? This was an incredibly accurate analysis of the scriptures and an important transition between how the history recorded in the bible pertains to our lives today. Two years ago I decided to read the bible Genesis to Revelations as it is written instead of the( important parts) suggested in study guides and sunday school. I finished in 11 months but then a few months later I decided to do it again and I do learn something new every day. I did remember the story of Tamara, Abasalom, David and Bathsheba. I have noticed in the comments that several of you must have read scriptures also because you caught many of the same MINOR discrepancies as I did. I was distracted by these in the first half of the video but began to realize they were not as important as the main message here. The only thing I would like to add is that David was a sheppard, not the son of a king. He grew to be the right man to become king at the right time for both Israel and for every christian. Was he perfect, not by a long shot. He was human and the scriptures demonstrate he made several mistakes and tried many times to correct those mistakes with prayer and the proper behavior. I am nearly certain that he did feel he was unworthy to correct his children and felt pain when they strayed from the law of god just as the narrator implied. Perhaps when confronted by his failures within his family he turned to what he did best which was leading and unifying the tribes of Israel. This of course left his children without guidance but did benefit the people of Israel. Absalom, Amnon and the other members of Davids family all had free will and their sins were their own and not Davids. The bottom line is all these mistakes and attempts at correcting their behavior is how we got Solomon. He was also a human and had his flaws as evidenced in the scriptures. However the experiences he lived through and endured, helped him make the good decisions he has been credited with and we still speak of his legacy today when we say " The wisdom of Solomon".
Wow - that is such a wonderful synopsis of the message - I absolutely LOVE it. Thank you!!! And thanks you for reminding us that David was just a shepherd boy, He ran food out to HIS brothers on the front line. Being the youngest, he probably grew up being told to be quiet by his older brothers :)
Kind David seems like a completely horrible person for many reasons. And he gave no justice to his daughter, Tamar. I understand Absalom. Absalom seethed about David's injustice. Please, someone tell me a REAL reason why David was called righteous? I read for years and years and NOBODY has convinced me David is righteous. Not yet. --- Unless the Bible has a different definition of what righteousness and justice means, then I have NO CLUE. I don't want to speak badly about him so I am asking - really asking for help to see David's righteousness. David's heart doesn't match his actions/deeds. Thanks.
@sunnyb390 Dear Sunny, I understand your point of view. However, it was the Lord God who judged David to replace the King Saul, and for many years, he kept the peace and allowed David to rule as he should have. I don't think that problems began till (man giving unto human ways), when Bathsheba presented herself at King Davids attention that corruption crept in and tempted him beyond what he resisted. David made probably his Biggest mistake and all that we read about, ensued, (which was a lot and at significant cost to David.) If it's any consolation, he Did eventually repent and the Lord granted him Strength to triumph over his enemies. You know that King David was the first (and to my knowledge) the Only King to have ever Unified the separate tribes of Isreal at that time!
@@paulaludengow3516Yes and David suffered the consequences of his sins, God told him the sword will not depart from his house, David was forgiven but he paid a price like we all do when we walk in disobedience .
@sunnyb390 I think there may be a conception problem in your description. You asked, "Why do they call David righteous?" David is not described as righteous. 1 Samuel 24:17 [King Saul] said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have done what is good to me though I have done what is evil to you. 1 Samuel 26:23 [David says to King Saul] The Lord will repay every man for his righteousness and his loyalty. I wasn’t willing to lift my hand against the Lord’s anointed, even though the Lord handed you over to me today. David's restraint in not killing Saul despite he had opportunity twice is spoken of as righteous. He did the right thing in accordance to the wishes of God. In this instance we see righteous acts by David, but this does not mean that David was cloaked in righteousness as a nature. Only Jesus was righteous. This is the reason we all need to submit to Jesus's transformation because He is the only One who can change us and we receive eternal life because He gives us His righteousness. So David did good things, but that did not make him a good man because he also did bad things. Note that David is described as a man who had a heart after God (1 Samuel 13:14) and still he was flawed like all of us.
Psalm 103: 20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. 22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. I think we need to employ our ministers.
This is the 2nd female named Tamar involved in a forbidden sexual act w/in families. In Genesis 38, Judah had sex w/ his daughter-in-law but supposedly didn't know it. Lot's daughters also got pregnant after getting their own father drunk. Leviticus addressed numerous forbidden sexual practices to try to correct this problem. Solomon, although touted to his wisdom, fell prey to pagan influences that undermined him in the end. This is the reason God said to wipe out the Canaanites so the Israelites wouldn't start following their practices. The captivity in Babylon could be considered punishment for this.
Unfortunately, in this modern time, in my own experiences it's the parents themselves that are submerge in sins, hence most if not all, a child becomes like the father/Mother.
She was not David's only daughter: "Now she had on a robe of many colors, for the king’s *virgin daughters* wore such apparel. And his servant put her out and bolted the door behind her. Then Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her robe of many colors..." (2nd Samuel 13: 18, 19)
Unfortunately, but this quote doesn't back up your point, not at all in my understanding... To me, it's just a generalized explanation for a typical dress code of a daughter (any and every daughter who's still a virgin) of a king (any and every king ruling at that time or/and lands). It's not saying 'king's David daughter(s)'. It's rather giving you an insight that what she was wearing (king's David daughter) was a traditional outfit for a virgin daughter(s) of a royal family in the timeframe when this specific tragedy took place. Generalisation. She actually could be the only daughter, according to the scripture fragment given.
This terrible act was part of King David’s punishment for adultery with Bathsheba. The prophet told David the sword would always be against his family. His son was killed by his half brother for this act.
This is a real story. I must say that I know that what happen to David daughter was horrible but in all, HER FATHER OUR GOD is good because he has made more than way now so me an many other may not be harm in physical or spiritual because of his son all powerful JESUS CHIRST THE TRUTH.
It a sad thing that this has happened since beginning of time and we still haven't figured out a way to stop this from happening behind closed doors. I pray to our Lord God for help with all our children who are still being abused of any kind.🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
This is a sad story in the bible 😔 I love the Word of Lord God 🙏 and I love my name, Tamar. I know my dad is name David and he was the best dad ever he was a Pastor and very good dad . When I read the story of Tamar , I wonder why they gave me that name but I know it was God will 🙏
I have to say here that Tamar most likely was not the *only daughter of David; she's just the only one mentioned b/c of the tragedy that happened. Also, can you imagine just how many children Jacob had? Only 1 daughter is mentioned b/c of the gentile tribe, but when he met Esau for the second time, Esau asked about meaning of all of the "hoards," LOL There was a very good reason why his wives always rejoiced and celebrated when they had a son. Probably many daughters in between. Typically in ancient lineages, daughters were not mentioned.
It wasn’t Absalom that lusted for her, it was Amnon. Absalom was the one that tried to avenge her because of king’s David silence and failure as a father to punish Amnon for violating his Tamar.
Where in the Bible does it say that King David had only ONE daughter! Do people believe she is the only daughter because this horrible thing that happened to her is recorded in Scripture?!
David wasn't perfect, no one but the Lord is perfect. This story attempts to place blame on David, but it was 90% Amnons desires (and corrupted cousel from Johnadab) were largely his own corrupt ideas that caused Davids family to endure such hardship.
@terryvest906 Sorry Terry, but even today, most parents wouldn't take any action. Our Bible tells us to abandon argument Before it breaks out. Let us think on that prior to (some of us) pursuing argument. (I wouldn't want to pass judgment on someone whom God had given a position.)
The only way you would be shocked by this story is if you did not read the whole Bible story about David's sin, God clearly prophesied that He would raise up evil in David's house and against itself. the King James Version of the Bible, God tells David that his house would be against itself because of his adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, Uriah, in 2 Samuel 12:10-11, 14: 2 Samuel 12:10: "The sword shall never depart from your house" 2 Samuel 12:11: "I will raise up evil against you from your own household" 2 Samuel 12:14: "The child also that is born to you shall surely die" The story of David and Bathsheba is told in 2 Samuel 11-12: David committed adultery with Bathsheba and arranged for her husband, Uriah, to be killed in battle The prophet Nathan confronted David about his sins David repented of his sins Bathsheba gave birth to Solomon. We as True children of God should do our best not to blur or misconscrew the word of God to those that are working hard to seek it. This is not something David intended It is just something that was prophesied by God so there was nothing he was going to be able to do. Is God teaches let it be written and let it be done. 🙏💕🙏
Especially if you are the man of your Christian household you must take authority & use wisdom. I am married to an unsaved man that has her put his foot down & he is trying to be our children's friend more than a father. He has done them a disservice because they do whatever they want wether good or bad & he doesn't take authority. My husband does not even back me up if I try to discipline or correct them. I am ashamed of how lazy and not caring about becoming responsible & functioning adults they have become.
I threw out my kids father for good. I raised them alone. Took them to church. We had no money, but they had a solid extended family. They are now very successful. They never missed “him”, trust me! One good parent can raise good kids!❤
Tamar was King David’s only daughter. She should have been protected not only by her father, but by all her brothers. After Amnon violated his half sister he paid with his life.
Never mentions the mother. He had too many wives and too many children. Never spent time to teach all the word of GOD. David paid for his sins because he killed Sheba's husband and their first born died. His debt was paid. He gave her no worth yet adorns her with precious metal and clothing. In the end she had no value but her brother avenged her. Also I think Amnon hated her because that is how he felt about himself for raping his forbidden sister.
It seems that you do not understand, nothing càn happen negatively to David and His Family, he was under the protection of Yahweh. But the man of Yahweh was also falling into sin. And Yahweh told him he will pay for his sin. This was one of His payments. Yashuah Jesus said we have to pay for each penny. We can not run away from any sin. 😢
Huh? Eve brought the apple to Adam. His job as a husband was to tell his wife ‘no’. Wives sin is now to nag husbands. And Husbands sin is now to avoid being the leaders of their families.
While reporting on historical events it is important not to add speculative opinions. Using the Ecclesiastes description of a whore to speak of innocent Tamar is a terrible indictment. You lost me at that moment.
TAMAR WAS NOT THE ONLY DAUGHTER OF DAVID. Don't make it up. She was the only one who, got raped. So now we know why Absalom wanted later to kill David too, if Im correct?
This only shows that man has limited power, and that God can forgive as long as he sees your heart with humility. This shows also that David’s son did not live in the commandments of God, coz if he did he will be afraid to do so. What I understand is this, it’s not David’s failure as you had declared, it’s his childrens choices what they did. I’m sure they were told about the commandments of God, and considering that they had different mothers, it’s their mothers that are failures, remember it’s not the father who took care of children,it’s the mother. And children too have possibility of not obeying their parents because of their own choices. No matter how good the parents are, children usually disobeyed because of what we call SIN. And remember Satan who had once a glorious life in the presence of God in heavens, I think you knew already what he did , the reason why he was thrown out from heaven. Is God a failure? As what you said about David? Did God create a robot who only follows what is programmed in his system, or did God create Holy Angels and human beings who had the gift of freedom to choose? And David is not excempted to also suffer from children’s disobedience like Satan’s to God his Creator
Matthew 7: 1-5 Judge not, lest you be judged. For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged… David failed Tamar yes, but do you and I not sin? Isaiah 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are My ways your ways smith theLord. God is wisdom itself. Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches of God! How unsearchable are His judgements, and His ways past finding out. 🫧Throughout history - even, beyond the Bible, God chooses imperfect people to carry out His plans. Are there any other kind for him to use?🫧 God also writes straight with severely crooked lines (People). I see it well within my own life. Don’t just look at the injustice suffered here, but at the much bigger picture of how God worked out His plan using sinners. I am not saying that what happened here is all good and well because the bigger picture was drawn out. How often have the sins of the father ( and/or mother) been visited upon their children before and after David - countless times! David is not more evil because his sins and weakness have been held up (in the writings of the Bible) for all the ages (of time) to see.
@@jobymathew7564That is speculation. There is nothing in scripture to suggest that is the case. We are not supposed to read into scripture what is not there.
@@ServantOfChrist_77 I removed my comment, may God forgive my foolishness, Nathan the Prophet also didn't said a word against Bathsheba, who am I? I love to see her as that 'ewe lamb' as described by Prophet when pointing out David his sin.
This whole sad tragedy was the result of King David's sin with Bathseba and taking Uriahs innocent blood. Didnt the prophet Nathaniel twll David that he would rise up evil out of his own house, and that the sword would never depart from his house?
WILD BEAST. DAVID IS NOT GREED OR WILD BEAST OR CONQUEROR ONLY FOR POWER BUT HE IS SHEPHERD THAT PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF THE LORD THAT LEAD HIM TO STAND AGAINST WILD BEAST. OR CONQUEROR.
I wish people would keep saying God this and God that .there is one God and he has nothing to do with none of this garbage. These Gods they worshipped were anunnaki.
Because King David refused to enforce the law Absolom did . Justice for Tamar. She was most likely between the ages of 14 to 19 or as young as 12. Amnon would have been punished by execution if King David enforced the law.
David should have married once only to a woman and build his family on this single marriage...when he failed here the incest was unavoidable....how sad..
Seeing as I was personally there, in person, David had 1 daughter, ME, and 0 sons. If he had sons, they were of little importance. There is only one that is David, his mage daughter, I AM
Requiring mercy over sacrifice because the GREATEST SACRIFICE was promised. What a great miscalculation by uninformed judgemental hypocrisy of self rightous flesh mongers. 😮
I think it is wrong to Blame David for the sins of his children. In his mind he could have been praying and waiting on the Lord to guide him through this difficult situation. Some times in-action is the wisest thing to do as the fire of the flesh need to burn out before anything can be done. its nice to hear your words but they are not correct. All have fallen short of Gods requirements, David was a good man but also fell short like all us men and woman of the world do.
He not being blamed in any other way but by keeping quiet and not condemning the wrong behaviors. I guess the reason he could not speak against it is because he himself has killed and taken uriahs wife.

Amnon was responsible for all of what happened and the David too. Absalom was loyal and loving brother.
Except that he tried to overthrow his Father, King David.and received his punishment for that transgression.
@sunnyb390
I think there may be a conception problem in your description. You asked, "Why do they call David righteous?" David is not described as righteous.
1 Samuel 24:17
[King Saul] said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have done what is good to me though I have done what is evil to you.
1 Samuel 26:23
[David says to King Saul] The Lord will repay every man for his righteousness and his loyalty.
Thank you dear. Vloger you did so many lessons to ponder which many families are innocent am so touched while am watching
This I opine was to fulfill a part of God's punishment to King David " the sword shall never depart from your house.
We all sin and not perfect, but we must repent and Refrain from sin and SURRENDER
Unfortunately, in this modern time, in my own experiences it's the parents themselves that are submerge in sins, hence most if not all, a child becomes like the father/Mother.
This CURSE on King David BEGAN when he committed ADULTERY and MURDER with Bathsheba/URIAH.......!!!!!
Amen
Part of the problem I believe is that women were not very important in those days.
👏🙌🙏 What a story….👏 and so relevant right now.🙌
I am so impressed how this video hias been together and how the info is laid out. Well put together.!
God always give justice to everyone no matter how it take it will be done in time 👍
lies. God desires mercy
And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
Glory be to God this story give me wisdom
Dinah and Tamar both were avenged by her brothers but their fathers didnot standup for their daughter's honour i find it disgusting and shameful
When I read the story of Tamar , I wonder why they gave me that name but I know it was God will 🙏
Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely
If David is with God, there’s a whole lot more of us that will also be with Him when we die than MOST ‘born again’ proponents want us to believe
Thank you for your work.
Absalom was not in love with his sister. He lusted for her
It wasn’t Absalom that lusted for her, it was Amnon. Absalom was the one that tried to avenge her because of king’s David silence and failure as a father to punish Amnon for violating his Tamar.
David didnt suffer o er his daughters destruction the way he did over a son.
When David himself fell into immorality how can he condemn or punish anyone?
Yes only Jesus is perfect.
Yes. But he could have found a way to console Tamar and also make her still feel important.
Though David himself fell into immorality doesn’t excuse him from disciplining his children. 🤷🏽♀️
Where in the Bible does it say that King David had only ONE daughter! Do people believe she is the only daughter because this horrible thing that happened to her is recorded in Scripture?!
Correct maybe there were more Daughters just not as important !!!
He said one of David's daughters, not that he had one daughters? Yes! her brother lay down with her & violated her! Frm South Africa
Thank you
I think we need to think about Who do We serve first God or mamaamal!.
Serve God not mammon
The people of the Bible were never perfect. They were a test from God to show his power in transforming their lives.
Church or temple is not the only place where the devil strives to tempt people. At times he operates in the very halls of government itself.
David wasn't perfect, no one but the Lord is perfect. This story attempts to place blame on David, but it was 90% Amnons desires (and corrupted cousel from Johnadab) were largely his own corrupt ideas that caused Davids family to endure such hardship.
God already told David there was going to be hardships in his family because of his sin with Bathsheba.
David had the power to deal with his son. Unfortunately he chose not too.
The only way you would be shocked by this story is if you did not read the whole Bible story about David's sin, God clearly prophesied that He would raise up evil in David's house and against itself.
the King James Version of the Bible, God tells David that his house would be against itself because of his adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, Uriah, in 2 Samuel 12:10-11, 14:
2 Samuel 12:10: "The sword shall never depart from your house"
2 Samuel 12:11: "I will raise up evil against you from your own household"
2 Samuel 12:14: "The child also that is born to you shall surely die"
The story of David and Bathsheba is told in 2 Samuel 11-12:
David committed adultery with Bathsheba and arranged for her husband, Uriah, to be killed in battle
The prophet Nathan confronted David about his sins
David repented of his sins
Bathsheba gave birth to Solomon.
We as True children of God should do our best not to blur or misconscrew the word of God to those that are working hard to seek it.
This is not something David intended It is just something that was prophesied by God so there was nothing he was going to be able to do.
Is God teaches let it be written and let it be done. 🙏💕🙏
David taught his sons that their desires were okay. His multiple wives taught his sons well!
Beating around the bush and wasting a lot of time before coming to the core.
Be concise and precise, brother
THANQ FOR EVERYTHING AMAZING JFK GRACE 😘
Need to get closer to god❤❤
God with capital G. Show reverence.
Great story! Important lessons - could have been told in 8 minutes instead of 28.
You are speaking nothing but truth…I am in the exact same situation.
I threw out my kids father for good. I raised them alone. Took them to church. We had no money, but they had a solid extended family. They are now very successful. They never missed “him”, trust me! One good parent can raise good kids!❤
😢 this is so sad
Tamar was King David’s only daughter. She should have been protected not only by her father, but by all her brothers. After Amnon violated his half sister he paid with his life.
Never mentions the mother. He had too many wives and too many children. Never spent time to teach all the word of GOD. David paid for his sins because he killed Sheba's husband and their first born died. His debt was paid. He gave her no worth yet adorns her with precious metal and clothing. In the end she had no value but her brother avenged her. Also I think Amnon hated her because that is how he felt about himself for raping his forbidden sister.
Don't forget...David raped Bathsheba
David was watching Bathsheba
We must know god , with modern eyes, in modern times .
God with capital G.
Unpopular opinion: I feel like Adam ate the apple and Eve was thoughtful and loving enough to protect him because…. Men are cruel and awful
I understand Tamar’s pain and heartbreak
Matthew 7: 1-5 Judge not, lest you be judged. For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged…
David failed Tamar yes, but do you and I not sin?
Isaiah 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are My ways your ways smith theLord.
God is wisdom itself.
Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches of God! How unsearchable are His judgements, and His ways past finding out.
🫧Throughout history - even, beyond the Bible, God chooses imperfect people to carry out His plans.
Are there any other kind for him to use?🫧
God also writes straight with severely crooked lines (People).
David suffered a lot due to Uriah s wife
Excuse me ? Are you saying Bath Sheeba forced David ? Are you saying David’s wasn’t responsible for his own actions ?
@@jobymathew7564Very possibly it never said King David forced her.
I love to see her as that 'ewe lamb' as described by Prophet when pointing out David his sin.
....She knew what he done and she knew what she was doing!
David had many wives and concubines. I doubt she was his only daughter. She's just the only daughter mentioned and for good reason
Yes seek Jesus
I starved to death while you were setting the table. 👎
But he did not stand up for his daughter. He should have demanded that Amnon marry Tamar.
@@tiathompson6674he couldn't do that. They are siblings.
I wish people would keep saying God this and God that .there is one God and he has nothing to do with none of this garbage. These Gods they worshipped were anunnaki.
Thats the reason of having a lots of Children in different women.. even today thats was happening also..
Because King David refused to enforce the law Absolom did . Justice for Tamar. She was most likely between the ages of 14 to 19 or as young as 12. Amnon would have been punished by execution if King David enforced the law.
She went to live with her full brother, no stoning here.
David should have married once only to a woman and build his family on this single marriage...when he failed here the incest was unavoidable....how sad..
It doesn't always mention daughters in the bible. He could have had more.
Amen Amen Amen
It's there 1 or 2 Sam 13
I don’t she was his only daughter, Jacob was the one who had only one daughter
So what did happen to Tamar?
Absalon took her into his home and provided for her. If I understood the scripture correctly.
They haven't Beautiful ❤ Names ❤
Seeing as I was personally there, in person, David had 1 daughter, ME, and 0 sons. If he had sons, they were of little importance. There is only one that is David, his mage daughter, I AM

Where does this information come from? It’s not in the Bible!
1 or 2 Sam 13
2 sam 13
It is in the Bible
Have you read the Bible? It is definitely in there.
It's in the bible.
Absolom was the elder brother of amnon.
No. Amnon is older
Requiring mercy over sacrifice because the GREATEST SACRIFICE was promised. What a great miscalculation by uninformed judgemental hypocrisy of self rightous flesh mongers. 😮
Not Absalom dear but AMNON
yes Ammon is the one who raped Tamar
That's not love.
