This is fantastic and its in English too!! I respect the fact Dutch is your mother tongue, but my experience of many visits to Holland has shown me everyone speaks great English there! Apparently 1.5 billion people speak English in the world, and Hollands population is 17 million, so guys please please keep it in English if possible. There is a big audience out there waiting!
Man, I got the carbon Diverge last year. Love that bike. Futureshock as well. Unfortunately GRX wasn't available yet, so mine has got Ultegra Di2 but I changed the rear derailleur for the one with the clutch for offroad. And man, I love the new storage space you have in the new frame. Wish I had that in mine. ;-) Enjoy Dirty Kanzelled! (Hope we can have a ride again in September for Only Friends. Bring this bike. ;-) )
Love the video. Can’t wait for Covid to end and the world to open again. Ready to ride Holland. Waiting for my Diverge to add to my bike collection. Only issue with Diverge, it’s supposed to be a fun bike. Black doesn’t look fun... make the colours FUN Specialized!
Why? There are not much unpaved paths in the Netherlands, let alone gravel roads. Just tiny, short paths. The south of Limburg (province) is an exception, but a little bit remote for the average Dutchman. We do have excellent paved cyclingroads here everywhere, and a special numbered cyclingroad network. A roadbike is the way to go. There are also very much XC MTB trails all over the country. A bit flat, but very good maintained.
Very nice video and nice bike! One question, how did you make your bike from 1x to 2x? Did you just get extra 2x grad group set to put on? Or is there a easier way to do it? I would also appreciate if you can share the spec on the 2x (ie. crankset and cassette). Thank you!
The Shimano GRX, 2x crankset comes in a 31/48, with a 11x cassette of 11 to 34, suitable for fast flat or undulating gravel and road mixed conditions. The GRX 1x is more suited to pure gravel riding in extremely mountainous regions, with higher gearing, chain ring around 40, cassette is 11 to 42. Good luck
Also curious. I have the diverge expert carbon, was wondering what he did to convert to 2x. Did he replace the entire group set? Or did he “hack it” somehow. I like my 1x, but I was looking to do some touring once the world starts to open up again and I’d love to be able to use my diverge without having to buy a new bike or an entire new group set.
looks like he added an Ultegra FD but didn't think it worked with the +2.5 offset the GRX has. I'm looking at changing my GRX RD to an XTR RD and going to a 11/46. I ride in some hilly areas.
did you change the rear GRX Di2 Derailleur to the 2x version? I also have this same bike and I want to go 2x but I am not sure if I can use the 1x rear derailleur because of its shorter cage.
Are you all set for Dirty Kanzelled? Route done? Bike ready? Food plan on point?

Gravel bikes are perfect for Netherlands.

Stoked and great episode! I live in Amsterdam what area were you riding in with all the windmills and gravel? Do you have that route on Komoot?
Up in the Noord toward Alkmaar.
Thx! Check Laurens' Komoot profile for cool gravel routes in Noord Holland

Very nice initiative. Don't like this video though, it is a commercial for stuff.
