8 million, 104k in property tax and 13k sq ft is ridiculous. There are so many nice smaller homes for 2-3 million in Sugar Land.
Not my decision but I agree with you. With a house that large, you couldn't find each other or kids. Not a cozy, family vibe at all. Massive isn't always better. There are a lot of homes with white walls and wood beam accents - a mix of both warm and modern. One story with nice grounds seems to be your go to. Keep looking! :)
I dont think they are looking because its massive i think they want practical layout and grounds combined with privacy. Most of those kind of houses for some reason are all designed by people trying to flog yellow and red paint, and then they decorate with very old furniture or antiques. They could drop their budget a tiny bit and redecorate one or build from scratch. I dont know heidi but i will second guess in a heartbeat, that decor wont last before shes replacing it for marble😂 i dont blame her. The size of the place it would cost so much to do everything. They should bypass that house though and wait til another great one comes up. Running businesses and moving house and having workmen in at same time will add to their stress again.
Just something to think about, I have two kiddos (2yrs & 4yrs) and their bedrooms not on the same floor would be rough. They come to our room when they are scared or sick in the middle of the night. Having to do stairs to do that would be dangerous (even though they do stairs fine) due to being sleepy. If you end up getting the house I would recommend moving your bedroom upstairs until they are older. Also, again, it’s not my decision but if there is ever a fire, I’d want to be on the same floor until they are old enough to be able to get out if needed.

I’d have 3 different inspectors he doesn’t know of my own choosing (1 from out of town at least) go over that house with a fine tooth comb before considering a purchase. 😂
it's 7.9 Million.. just build a house on some land guys. spend half that and get what you want exactly.

You should really build a custom home from the ground up. You can completely tailor it to you and your family. Get so much more out of it. And a lot less issues you’re gonna run into. These old homes have so many problems!

I’d say go for it, I’m in Surgarland now temporarily for work and I just adore the Sugarland neighborhood. It feels different than the rest of Houston.

My opinion is when you walk into the right home you know right away this is it.
I always heard that cliche, then i went house hunting.. we saw serval that i was like ooh this looks nice. or meh... then i accidently walking in an open house outta nowhere and was like "oh this feels so nice" it was a bit outta a price range and went under days after... a couple months went by and the deal fell through.. it's been 4 and a half years and i''m blessed to call that very house home.

Having that piece of nature that provides a surrounding waterfront with trees is priceless . Especially with starting a family and having everything all set to enjoy on and adjacent to the property. I would suggest looking at RH Interior Design Source books in the "Contemporary Book" It incorporates traditional architecture with contemporary elements in furniture design with a lot of focus on the brown/white/gold and even marble in black/white for tables and accent pieces. Just an idea. You need to consider the pros and cons of your decision and whether its sustainable. Or look for something similar smaller with your desired potential. Best wishes in your endeavour.

I love this house waterfront and 2.2/ acres is just enough property and it looks move in ready . New construction sounds nice but gets really really expensive real fast and can take sometimes 1-2 years to build ..

buying one big property lump sum is a bad investment, better to buy a bunch of smaller property's/highrises in HCOL cities and rent them out. As the appreciation is much higher and can sometimes 6x your initial investment.
It better be away from neighbors like 10 mins walk and u get to see another house for that price range... im not sure how smart they are with money, imagine they can retire early but i guess they are workaholic.

Sugar land being the best is arguable depending on what you want. More land in Houston is useless during the summer unless you have a pool. Also, living on a lake is a potential problem with flooding.

The Taylor Lake area seems like it would be a perfect option if the locations of your business had no effect.. but something of that sort is definitely out there

When you guys are looking for a house remember that this is where you're going to live for the foreseeable future so even though you may not see yourself living in it right now or you may think it might be a little bit more for what you need right It's definitely going to be what you need for the future And where your kids will grow up and where your business is will expand and where you will have your family and your friends come to have showers and and birthday party is and stuff like that I know you didn't show the inside of the house I can only imagine But if it were me the outside of that house is totally gorgeous and I would take it in a hot second If I had that kind of Money to be able to afford something that beautiful I think you guys should go for that 3rd house at least that is my humble opinion and take that as you will. You guys are both awesome and you deserve something that's that beautiful and that special.
Don't forget that children will change your life and even though warm may not be your vibe right now children have a tendency to change a lot about somebody's life and that warm style maybe the perfect thing for children and I know you guys plan on having kids

The homestead exemption helps. In Florida, the taxes can only go up by 3% per year I believe, if your property is homesteaded. But I think Texas is 10% yikes
Sugar land is nice but definitely not the nicest in Houston (and surrounding areas). Not even close 😂
0:56 an island is dope until there is a hurricane or a flood… check the flood risk map for the area before you buy!!!! Don’t make a huge investment without thinking of future climate change impacts on the area (increased frequency of severe storms, weather changes etc.)
