In the second part of Nate Murphy's attempt to free climb 'The Shaft' 8a+/5.13c, Nate and climbing partner Eli Nogueira come up against everything that Yosemite throws against pushing the duo to their absolute limits. With the motivation at an all time low, Nate has to dig deep in order to get himself to the top of the wall...its his biggest challenge yet.

Another great video from Nate Murphy... authentic and real and honest. Keep up the great work Nate!
Thanks!
Summed up the "why am I just not doing this" feelings pretty well 👍
Great video. The scenery is beautiful, of course, but what makes this video sfand out is the fact that you opened yourself up and allowed us to get a glimpse into your mindset and how you dealt with the challenges faced on the wall.
Doesnt really seem like a fail at all. They learned more about their climbing abilities, strengths and weaknesses....and they stayed safe.
Rocking the Santa Fe climbing shirt!!!! Love it!!!
I"m not lying, I was just gonna google how do climbers crap while climbing big walls and spending days on the wall!! and then Eli and Nate go ahead and make a video about it!!! LMAO
Great video. A great lesson learnt. Also, don't stress when you feel like you haven't achieved your goal.
Awesome work guys!!! It looked pretty savage haha
Chris Hailey thanks Chris! Some hard climbing up there!
This was fantastic. I would love to see more relateable content like this in the future. Too many climbers featured in videos have become caricatures.
Man U still made it I don’t care u went from the bottom to the top more then 99% of the population can do so 👍👍👍👍
13:29 He rocks that mullet though
He who climbs and knows when to walk away “up bail” lives to climb another day. Perhaps this was your lesson to the up and coming climbers. I enjoyed this video, despite your trepidation. Thanks for sharing.
Dear me..
Please keep on climbing and work hard to one day climb el cap.
You made the right decision and you got some great experience for the next time. It would seem that any doubt taken with you to El Cap would be detrimental to the climb and the experience.
Great job))))
That is a lux mullet
Message out to Ely from Chase Caz! Cool video you guys. Please come visit and climb in costa rica whenever you want... yes, climbing in Costa Rica!
I’m headed there for this whole summer and I’m looking to climb! Any recommendations? I’m still a new climber, tap out on 10+ outdoor.
You got skills.
What I want to know is what was Eli doing in Lowman? On his way to the Perch?
Brian Harder Agreed. And I can't say I've noticed an overwhelming number of mullets in Lowman recently. I'll have to be on the lookout next time.
Fantastic video. Although I watched it while eating breakfast and drinking coffee so I could've done without the part: watching another man poop. I will never be able to un see that...lol
Hahaha! People do actually still poop on big walls. And that’s the #3 question I get asked. 1- do you actually sleep up there? 2- is it scary? 3- how do you use the toilet? IMHO I’m glad that was left in. Kinda awquard that he just kept the camera on him a bit past the point of it being awkward few seconds. But a part of the wall none the less. The worst part is when it hits mid-day! Lmfao.
Nobody ever talks about the training required to do one’s business in the morning only. All though I suppose evening would work in a pinch. (;
Either-way... it’s nice to have a ledge to squat on vs. the always fun over the portaledge while your partner counter-balances the thing or the worse.... hanging belay squat (worse when you just got done leading). You remembered your wag-bag, right? No fun to Jug up to a fresh steamer.
Or the ultimate in hapinstances.... leader yells “ Watch me... Watch ME! TAKE!” Belayer replies “Hang-on! Lemme wipe”
LMFAO. Sorry... I know! Too much. (;
Thanks, great footage. It’s nice to see someone sincerely digging deep to determine the whys of the bail instead of just justifying it to everyone. Oh... and the “upward bail” fantastic!
just had breakfast as well while watching this!:) but tbh i like to portray myself up there at times and mundane stuff like that helps me a lot doing that!;))
Bummer about the smoke.
4:49 I shit my pants before I realised it was a bird that was falling!
Where ya' be these days, Natey?
Siurana ,, good place
damn that was great! :)))))
also, how can anyone dislike this??
Song at 10:04 please ?
Eli looks just like Yosemite legend Warren Harding !
before the alcohol that is:)
At 1:10 it looks like he's back-clipped??
Back-clipping on a traversing section is less of an issue as the rope is not going to come down atop the carabiner possibly opening the gate.
I feel like I've seen this vid before... maybe published elsewhere by EpicTV?
Song at 10:50 ?

Big Stone is Real.
which route is this ?
The Shield.
I always wonder what climbers do when they realize half way up that they can´t climb that one pitch cause its to hard for them.
Look for an easier route up or go back down the way you came ;-)
Aid climbing.
u rs awesome
saag paneer on Yosemite. hahaha
Eli is adorable!! Even when pooping in a bag!! 😂😂😂 Tell him he needs to get his mullet over to Cataluña!!
I will pass that on :D
Sucks that California is always on fire
Most of california is supposed to be on fire ever so often , it's a natural part of the lands ecology and history, especially in the grass lands, burn canyons, Chapparalls , and areas where any of the tight coned conifers are located. it's widely misunderstood by to many people. what really seems to stink is that development of land occurs the most in many of the fire prone areas and people die or lose their property because of the lack providing education for these areas. www.nps.gov/samo/learn/management/fireecology.htm, The issues occuring with mudslides are also somewhat preventable when we think of deep rooted plant species and how they function. The only issue is that people have removed a lot of these species and replaced those plants with non-native shallow root species that are not fire adapted :(
Well... if anyone ever wondered what happenes when you have to poop on a wall, all questions will be answered....
Sorry for the spoilers....
Lol jinn old free solodthat shit
Climbing doc for non climbers
4:50 - those teeth...
''Not sure I approve '' of the wildfires? Heard of global warming? You got to Yosemite mainly by jet?!
Why no one black climber ?
