I was having breakfast by myself in a cafe in Moab. I heard a table of women laughing and I looked in that direction. Steph looked at me and smiled a beautiful one. I nodded back. It was great to see her happy, it added to my day.
Thanks for sharing more of your story, Steph. I've followed and been inspired by you for years and this film just reinforces everything. I'm 68 yrs old and still climbing as well and hard as I can, thanks to all my climbing partners thru the yrs and all the ones I have left, all much younger than I am now, that make this possible!
As a climber and adventurer I appreciate the tears, the passion, the honest portrayal of your journey. You are on your path Steph..continue. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with me.
Watching Steph over the years, reading, listening to her thoughts, seeing her successes and sadness all blends into a beautiful image of a way to live a life. ☺️
What a remarkable woman!!! So much inner strength to stare her life down and take control of it. I also really connected to the fact that we all need Love to live.
Hey thanks for this video about how you can find love and strength even in the wake of deep grief. She has been an icon for female climbers and I appreciate the continuation of showing her very human (and super human) side. Well done
wow steph has been through a lot! Big props to her for continuing to look for love after loss, and continuing to climb and jump after mario, because most would never jump again after something like that!
A world so divine, I learned about Stephanie back in 2008 from a 2 of my partners on a gig, where Missouri Ben showed me a mag. with Stephanie in squirrel suit flight of the Chimney in Moab... so glad to see your back on track with Ian by your side, you are the true inspiration.... Thanks for this clip
Steph, you are amazing! I was so privileged to hear you speak one time in Boulder. You are a total inspiration. A much underrated climber and an incredible person who continues to inspire and I wish you all the best. Just hoping one day my daughter and I make it to one of your classes. A hard crack is good to find!
Great and inspiring account. When I came across Steph Davies' adventures around 2007, I ws totally blown away.As strange as it may sound, actually it changed something inside of me. Glad this happened and luckily this feeling still persists.
You inspire me... and I had a 31cm ovarian tumor and climbed Mt Rainier 6 weeks after surgery. I'm a climber and only have panic attacks when climbing outdoors and maybe I can try jumping (under guidance). Grateful and aware 🙏maybe I'll take the leap one day
@@weeedy1369 I think it was not allowed to climb on any named Arches in the park at that time. But I am not an expert on that. Anyway, everybody was upset about it because clearly Delicate Arch is not a climbing goal or it should be. Let's enjoy this thing before it falls apart tomorrow or in 500 years. Who knows.
Potter soloed the arch several times. His wife, Steph Davis, snapped some photos of the ascent, and Lynch returned with a video camera to capture the climb on film. rockandice.com/lates-news/dean-potter-on-laws-modern-america-and-soloing-delicate-arch/
True, but there has been and still is a long standing tradition of not climbing named features in the park; and they also found rope marks in the rock.
Absolutely. I've learned to appreciate the work and knowledge of those whom also learned back in the film days. It really shows. Most striking was that both shallow depth of field with bokeh and shallow depth of field without bokeh were employed. Very few people who learn today grasp the difference and why it is both useful and important.
Lovely film, such an amazing/courageous woman. Thank you! PS. Would someone form the filmmaking team be able to stay what the song that started playing around 18:20? Thank you.
Cool video. I guess once you become a jumper and flyer it's hard to be with anyone who is not in that world and understands those risks. Happy for them and I hope it lasts.
Seems like this was shot a while ago. Steph and Ian married. Ian had a serious accident that broke his legs badly and has been recovering, but he has had to change careers
Does anyone know what climb she is on at the beginning at around the 2:00 mark? It sorta looks like Way Rambo at the top, but I don't think that's right.
@@networkbike543If memory serves, he claimed to have found a way to climb and exit the arch without causing any damage. It may have been true but ranger's noticed new rope scars they believed he had left and the whole of the climbing community turned on him for years. It was pretty ugly. Not only did Davis get implicated by association there were climbing groups boycotting Patagonia as he had been one of there climbers at the time. I think climbing it was clearly a case of bad judgement but I've always given him the benefit of the doubt as far as leaving damage. But I don't think Steph or the video production folks are trashing him here. She took a horrendous hit during that period and is just recounting that part of her life honestly as opposed to glassing it over.
How exactly did they talk sketchy about Dean Potter? They never mentioned him by name, and like it or not, the whole Delicate Arch climb blew up negatively.
How so? Maybe lost in translation, but I was merely expressing an opinion on the unfair reasons they lost their 2 main sponsors at the time... well documented in Steph's book "Learning to Fly".
Mixed feeling on this, there is no doubt she is an incredible climber- athlete, but lets be honest if your main interest are high end climbing-soloing, BASE jumping and wingsuit flying as is your partners you fate is pretty much sealed. I understand some have to push it but luck does and will run out. She is one hell of climber and that is for sure, she is living the way she needs to live I suppose.

I think we are all very lucky to have people like Steph on this planet.
uh no. It's not like she's not building a staircase or anything for other people

This had me in tears...What a woman you are. A total inspiration. Much love to you both!
Thankyou Steph for living from your passion, continuing through pain, and sharing it all with us as a living metaphor :)
As a climber and adventurer I appreciate the tears, the passion, the honest portrayal of your journey. You are on your path Steph..continue. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with me.
get over it and yourself. Climbing is inherently selfish.
Go do something for other people instead.
Watching Steph over the years, reading, listening to her thoughts, seeing her successes and sadness all blends into a beautiful image of a way to live a life. ☺️
Beautiful, strong film. Steph is such a special person.

Thanks Steph for sharing part of your life.

Really enjoyed everything about this. Every word of it, Steph is an inspiration.

It's nice to know that people like this still exist. I want this lifestyle now!😂😂

Great story, well told. She's really a great (sports)Woman

Always a motivating spirit. Thanks Steph for being you ❤️
I find these films much more inspiring than just see somebody climbing...
04:54, the dog barking in perfect timing to the guitars 😄
Thank you Steph and Ian.

Thank you so much. ..
For being an example of living life with all the passion, this is loving yourself and inspiring your fellow man,God bless you.
Wow! What an interesting story. So glad I stumbled upon this. Thanks for the inspiring life story. ❤️
DEAN POTTER!!!!! LIVE ON!!! What a true inspiration! Following his art
I view Steph Davis the same way I view Jane Goodall....Personal heroes of mine ✌🏻🤟🏼🌎
Jane Goodall is another amazing person who radiates an energy that's positive and infectious.
Wow that was really good. Steph is such a great person, I'm glad to see a happy ending. Life is a funny thing.
For me the emotional story far outranks the adventure story.
You inspire me... and I had a 31cm ovarian tumor and climbed Mt Rainier 6 weeks after surgery. I'm a climber and only have panic attacks when climbing outdoors and maybe I can try jumping (under guidance). Grateful and aware 🙏maybe I'll take the leap one day
So nice to see trad climbing on rock after so much plastic, thanks!
Such an amazing story!!! Extremely moving and inspiring, thank you for sharing and truly sorry for your loss...❤🤘🔥
For the record, Dean's climb of Delicate Arch was not illegal at the time
I don't think so.
It was not illegal but it was highly frowned upon due to the video Mr. Lynch and him made. Not illegal poor choice making a video about it.

Just simply AMAZING!!! Stay FREE
Wow, that was very powerful!
this girl is amazing!!! i dont know how climb but i want to learn it and try to feeel that freedom

They will be my guest!!
I agree with you Tom

Several times, Casual and Pervertical routes
Yes! Most beautiful crack climber on this planet!
The casual vid is on UA-cam, it's pretty sweet
Exciting life full of ups and downs is a meaningful life. Well done !
What an awesome lady!
Inspiring. So many life lessons. Thanks for the share. Anyone have the music list?
A human...............LIVING:) Very well done to you, may the rest be exciting, yet ' smooth'.
Brilliant!
Please fly safe Steph! You're a hell of a woman!
Climbing is cool and all, but can we address how cool that cat face handbag is at the 5:10 mark?
Beautiful film.
Had to watch this for class
What an amazing expression of someone fearlessly following their own path and curiosities. Very inspiring and well crafted video.
All folks die but these type of folks lives alot... Came to mind,
Awesome film.
Beautiful camera work, the angles are very well chosen
Great video. Loved it
The path would have been different without dean but steph is hardcore and now walking her own path.
Lovely film, such an amazing/courageous woman. Thank you!
PS. Would someone form the filmmaking team be able to stay what the song that started playing around 18:20? Thank you.
Great person
in the end there's no freedom
we are just slaves of our desires and passions
So great
Blessings,
this is a good one,, thanks
At 10:38 Steph could pass for Dean Potter’s sister. I think it’s the eyes.
Hope I run into Steph in Moab one of these years...
Awesome Awesome
beautiful people.
❤️
Kajun would make happy anyone -). With my lo love to all you.
Best wishes
Nice documentary 👌🏻
Does anyone know what the song is that plays during the credits? really want to know!
I just wondering the same...
Shazam it
We tried that with no luck
Ah man, was thinking the same thing. Any luck?

Neat
I wish I could climb into her brain. Pretty amazing individual
I saw a suggestion for a climbing video. It opens with base jumping..
Does anyone know what song are they using in the background at 9.18? Shazam ain't picking it up!
Does anyone know what climb she is on at the beginning at around the 2:00 mark? It sorta looks like Way Rambo at the top, but I don't think that's right.
Does anyone know the music in the movie?
I would also like to know ...
Wow
Great story! In her own way, I actually think she kinda looks like Dean? RIP
Sad to hear how sketchy they talk about Dean.
Just looked him up on google and he was portrayed badly here. It casts doubt on the whole content of the video.

We are all gonna die sometime my friend. Might as well die do something you love then wishing on your death bed the things that you could of done.
I totally agree. She said she could count on him for anything -- well, she can't count on him now.
Anyone know the song at the end?
Damn no love for Dean
Dean died while breaking the law. Everyone wants to make him out to be a hero, but what goes around, comes around. Find somewhere to fly where it's legal, then you won't have to try to do it on the skinny and run from LE.
