Had the privilege to work as a tower crane operator for 4 years on that bridge. Incredible job with incredible people and I would like to dedicate this comment to John Cousin who tragically lost his life during construction. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace my friend. 🙏
May I recommend the next time you're in the north east, you take a visit to Beamish Museum. You may already be aware of it but it's a living museum that gives an insight into life in the region through the 19th and early 20th century. It has real operating trams that you can ride, a coal pit and many other real, functional features including an entire town with shops, a bank, a courthouse etc. I know you'd love it and it'd make an awesome video for this channel.
As a local it is pretty quiet here all the time. I think the Forth Road Bridge is closed for maintenance in this visit, it sadly has been overworked and requires lots of TLC. You can walk across it in better weather or cycle. Even though I see it most days it is still a great moment to cross the Forth by train, crossing the bridge is a magnificent experience. More brave locals often abseil down the Forth Rail Bridge for charity.
When I was little I used to think the trains went over the top of the Forth Bridge like a roller coaster. I was very disappointed when I actually travelled over it for the first time! The best view is from South Queensferry on the Edinburgh side of the water :)
Cracking video Shawn! Glad you enjoyed you’re time up here. Living so close to these can sometimes make you not appreciate what’s on you’re front door step but lovely to watch you’re vlog and see how much you enjoyed it :)
You're living the dream Shawn. You travel to all these beautiful places and I live through you lol. I've never even been on an airplane. I had just got my passport before traveling restrictions were put in place but I promised myself that I will travel just like you! You inspire so many!
Hi shawn wow wonderful engineering those bridge's are amazing. Love the little lighthouse what a little gem . Thanks for sharing with us love as always Tracey xxxx
Crossing the Forth Bridge on a train is fantastic. When I was a kid my mum and dad would drive over the bridge to North Queensferry. We’d get fish and chips, have a walk and watch the trains go directly overhead.
There’s actually 2 other bridges a few miles inwards that also cross the Firth of Firth. The Kincardine Bridge and the Clackmannanshire Bridge. I drive over the Queensferry Crossing each day for work so I know it well. I used to use the Forth Road Bridge. It had serious structural faults and was closed for a few weeks in Dec 2015- Jan 2016. Caused complete traffic chaos as the new bridge wasn’t finished.
The Kincardine is the older bridge and looks more traditional compared to the new bridge that opened in 2008. The railway bridge is out of this world though 😃
A great vlog Shawn the bridges are the stars 😀 I’ve only ever been over the original forth road bridge many times🙂 I hope you had a great trip Shawn 🙂 It’s great you.did a Scottish tour 🙂 Charlotte has missed out 🙂 But I’m sure you will get Charlotte up here next year🙂 lovely 🙂x
At least you still saw the bridges, they can disappear in foggy weather! There is also a Deep sea world in North Queenferry (nothing to do with the sealife brand). Glad you saw the lighthouse though! There is also a Forth Bridges Viewpoint on the other sider of the forth road bridge, were you can see all three bridges at once. There is also boat tours on the south Queensferry side too. Wonderful video.
I only live about 15 minutes away from these bridges I actually see them everyday on my way to school and you can actually see them from the top floor of my school they’re that big. I actually used to think the trains went up and down the bridge like a rollercoaster, it’s a great view from the train bridge. I’m actually one of a few hundred people to have ever walked on the Queensferry crossing, they done a special event before it opened that you could walk across it.
Saw the queensferry crossing being built, and drove over it the first week it opened xxx (you’ve certainly got stuck into and learned the facts of the bridges! )
Another great vlog Shawn! i'm loving these from Scotland, it's somewhere I've wanted to visit for a long time. Keep them coming! :) :D P.S it's a shame you didn't see Nessie lol :/ Ash
Hi Shaun I’m currently in Scotland now! And looking for a view point for my video! I was also here a couple of weeks ago and visited the kelpies! Your awesome man loved your New York series
Hi Shaun, I live close to these Bridges and indeed often have my lunch on the bench at the Lighthouse. Parts of the film The 39 Steps was also filmed there with Kenneth More. The Ferrybridge Hotel down there used to be Fantastic for dinner. Wonderful food. Not been for years though so don't know what it's like now. Glad you enjoyed the area. I Fish down there too. Steve.
Sean you need to win the lottery and buy and renovate the hotel! Thanks for all information we could see the bridges from our hotel on our last trip to Edinburgh.I think you can do a boat trip under the bridges in the summer
Great place been there many times myself. Being a rail enthusiast, I know that that bridge has a train going over it roughly every 3 mins. Also if you looked up onto the start of the bridge you would of seen a bit of the bridge out further. That was where the signal box was. Imagine the views that you could see from that! Great video if your ever in the North East of Scotland again let me know in advance I am happy to help or to show you some of the sneeky things I know about Aberdeen and surrounding. Most of it is rail knowlage but some is just Aberdeen things. Just let me know and I'm happy to try be available.
I love these bridges, have many photos, North Queensferry has always been quiet when I was there, you do find most tourists go to South Queensferry with cafes and pubs and parking but the view isn't as good in my eye
I can remember drinking in the pub back in the late 1970's. It was pretty run down then. It probably could become a tourist attraction but for some reason the tourist industry tends to overlook the bridges. They need more exposure from both Fife and Edinburgh councils tourist departments.
N. Queensferry was home for many years to the fantastic author Iain (m) Banks. The tourist hotspot in at S. Queensferry. My wife abseiled off the rail bridge for charity two years ago. Got to walk out along it as part of it.
fantastic around there,a truly awesome sight especially when you see a steam train go across, its a pity you didnt head for east lothian after that as there is a cracking aircraft museum which has a concorde ,a vulcan bomber to name but a few .great vid happy journeys...
What an exuberant description and sight from various angle of Forth rail bridge. Some description of road bridges came as bonus. Just one bit of suggestion - avoid over use of the words absolutely and really really. Otherwise it is a superb video.
I was born and brought up in North queensferry its a great wee village.. I used to work in the Albert Hotel (the boarded up one) unfortunately some dodgy guy bought it and it went to rack n ruin... The wee lighthouse was never open for yrs I've never been in it 😔
History is all wrong! If you really love history, you go to Kailasha Temple at Elora, India! Out there there is real history to take in... We are being told the year is 2020, but the year is closer to 1020! The buildings of the old world are also not that old... Love your video's Shawn! Stay safe...

You are so right. Shawn would love Beamish. And the second National Railway Museum is near there too
That's pretty much interesting. Those 3 iconic bridges were true engineering marvels, absolutely stunning!!

Have to put that on our ‘bucket list’.

Hi Shawn I visit Scotland 3 times a year and I've been crossing over the Queensferry Crossing and Forth Bridge once.
I'm fortunate enough to be a train driver based in Perth and regularly cross over the magnificent Forth Rail Bridge.
That’s awesome! Very lucky indeed
That is so cool seeing those bridges and also that you got to go up in that lighthouse!!!
Both your channels are awesome. We love them. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Defo mate especially on a windy day lol
I've got many photos from the construction of the Third Crossing as i spent many holidays up there getting historic photos!

I used to live not far from these beautiful bridges❤️. Lived there before the Queenferry crossing was built. So long time ago

They both have good landmarks
