Some events coincide. For example, the reason Barry in DP wanted to go to lake Verity was because he heard of a red Gyrados on the news, which is a johto thing at a specific time frame.
The reason why the games take place at the same time is because of the remakes. The Gen 1 remake came out around the same time as the Gen 3 games. Same as Gen 2 with Gen 4. The whole incident with Red Gyarados started around the same time as the player character in sinnoh just became their journey

It never really clicked for me that it was about the axis and the correlation there, as I'm kind of slow, but hearing it put in that way made a lot of sense and was pretty deep!

I took a break from pokemon after gen 3, and didn't return until i got a 3DS and decided to retry and relearn pokemon...
I'm not even joking when i say that X and Y was the reason why i FINALLY learned how things actually worked! Before that, i had no idea how like 90% of the mechanics actually worked, and how they changed through the years...
Playing X and Y after so long of a break felt like having to learn an entirely new franchise, but it did introduce me to my now favorite way to play the newer pokemon games: catch 6 pokemon right away, and then wondertrade them all away. Then just beat the game with whatever you get!
Regarding the Pokémon timeline:
The Kanto games (specifically FRLG) and the Hoenn games had to happen around the same time because part of the Sevii Islands post-game has something to do with Celio (Bill's cousin) establishing a connection to Lanette's PC system in Hoenn. (Gameplay-wise, this unlocks trading between FRLG and RSE.)
As for the Johto games and the Sinnoh games happening at the same time, I guess it has something to do with their shared Battle Frontier? Or maybe something to do with the Sinjoh Ruins event?
B2W2 happening at the same time as XY seems weird though because there doesn't seem to be a significant plot point or gameplay feature that will require them to happen at the same time.
The tie between johto and sinnoh is at the start of diamond and pearl (:

Pat, I’m surprised you didn’t watch BlueBoyPhin’s mini-documentary “A Breakthrough Discovery in Pokemon”. It’s SO interesting and adds to the lore of the gen 2 games that I never even thought about, plus it’s extremely well made
Afaik he usually asks permission to react first, so maybe he just doesn't have that (yet) from BlueBoyPhin. Agree though, I loved that documentary!

Reassuring that I'm not misremembering! I remember being confused at that black belt line when reading it in game myself, and as they went on like it wasnt real I was thinking, 'no, she was in the battle maison, wasn't she??' the self doubt was real! Cant say I'd have remembered her name, but the line stuck out to me enough to remember. There's plenty of memorable lines in the battle maison/tree/tower. Another reason I miss them in SV!
They wanted to make competitive more diverse... so they introduced Megas that centralize the meta lol. 2014 had a bit of diversity but 2015 especially and 2016 were famous for how dominated by a core team they were (CHALK for 2015 and the Big 6 for 2016). Literally the least branched out competitive so far

Red, more specifically Fire Red, and Ruby do interact. Not just through direct trading between the games, but through the events in the Sevii Islands which enable the feature. In assisting Celio, the player is responsible for establishing a link between the Kanto and Hoenn regions' Pokemon storage systems.
Speaking of the PC storage system, the in game explanation for the improvements made to the Gen 3 was that Lanette (who is a resident of Hoenn) made modifications to Bill's original model. FRLG retain these changes, suggesting that Lanette's work in RSE happened at a similar time.

i personally think a timeline is good to have because it brings in world building and a sense of that there is more than just what we have in the game

The blue xy remix theme was found by some people a long time ago but they just assumed that it was an unused theme.

The main thing I remember about X and Y was that Miiverse was a thing on the 3DS where artists shine, people were shiny trading and even doing giveaways. (Btw I barely won any of the giveaways, I think I won one just to get a Shiny Empoleon.)

The way it looks it seems very contained and spreads, so it might not have reached Kanto or any other place by the time the Protag solves the Weatherissue. I mean in the Second Movie we litterally had that - and even there it took time to spread. Maybe all the other Regions experienced was a bit more rain/heat than usual..

I went to Symphonic Evolutions in 2017 when it came close to my hometown. It was a really fun event. I can imagine why it wouldn’t have been practical to tour it forever, but it would have been cool if they had kept it going to include the music from the newer games.

Would be interesting if a pokemon game let you play through the timeline, like, you can start in either Kanto or Hoenn, in Kanto at some point there will be the crazy climate situation and you can do nothing about it but it affects the game in some way, and in Hoenn Team Rocket is running some operations but close to the end they disband...

It was the gen in which I got back into pokemon. I always pick the fire started the first time.
Not gonna lie, being French, I love to hear strangers speak our langage, I think having an accent is a good thing (not in all langages I have to say that French speaking English with a terrible accent is just a lack of effort imo) and people who feel offended are dumb because they don’t respect someone who tries or do something they themselves can’t or poorly do in another langage.
I love langages in general, I find it crazy how there are so many and how, in the end, there are a bunch of different words meaning the same thing.
There’s maybe two langages I’m not fond of, I won’t say which, though only when spoken since I like them when sang.
I also should add that I’m tired of the memes around UK’s English accent when it’s the origin of the langage, like, Americans makes fun of the accent the ones who made their langage and used it first has…
Anyway, never be ashamed of speaking another langage, be proud that you can.

Am I the only one who can't wait for Pokémon Z to come out on Switch? It's true that we have diamond and pearl on the switch, and Pokémon stadium with the emulator that can be downloaded from the shop, but I miss the old generation games, even if "modernised" in some way... Hoping it's not rubbish like Violet and Scarlet at the beginning....

(Burmy is my least favourite Pokémon ever since then)
RSE are probably set at the same time as FRLG because they were in the same generation and could trade back and forth between them. The end result makes Kanto look like a backwater that's behind the times, though.

I've actually met Nova when I was doing the Battle Maison, which to this day I'm wondering how I was able to do that mode at all cause I was still new to the whole competitive building Pokémon. Though I didn't realize she was supposed to be a transgender character. Just thought she switch professions or something.
