Analog shot controls do NOT work properly.There is a significant lag between analog input and execution wich makes quick response nigh-on impossible at times.This makes the game all the more aggravating at higher difficulties or after the 1st season at Career Mode wich makes things frustrating.So you end up fighting the controls more than fighting your tennis rivals.Rent before you buy and DON'T listen to this review and buy straight away or might end up beeing massively dissapointed.

For example the slices in this game doesn't look anything like a slice at all and some of the players such as Nadal and Djokovic will for some reason hit a one handed backhand rather than their proper two handed that they really possess. I believe 8.5 is a little to high for this game, it should be a 7.0 at best.

Turned the game off and I don't plan on playing again. Turns out it was upping the difficulty every year. Higher difficulty levels should be for extra-skilled players, not EVERY player...
I still think Virtua Tennis 3 is the best. Yes you heard me VT4 is horrible and VT2009 was O.K. The only thing with VT3 are the characters.. no Djokovic of course since the game is old. And they dive a lot. But that also has to do with how you're playing. But the gameplay is REALLY good. It has only gotten worse in the newer editions of VT.
I HATE how sports games try to make everything evolve around the right stick. It bugs the hell out of me. I enjoy pushing buttons, using the stick to do things like swing a tennis racket or shoot in basketball just isn't enjoyable to me. Does anyone know if you can choose to use buttons to swing the racket in this game?
This game look almost like the real life in term of the graphic and the face looks at that time, but top spin gameplay is closer to the real life movement.

And Sharapova slobber on the top spin down the line really hurts you bad that top spin so you have to close and then move back into a safe zone near the service line to get ready to hit overhead software locks or you just have to get back on the baseline to get ready to hit that lob and then drive it back in and do another approach only to see her hit love after love after love lobs and lobs
After 3 years since this game was released I finally got it today & it is a very fun game. I used to have Virtua Tennis 4 and that is crap compared to Grand Slam Tennis 4.
Not to mention that in Top Spin 4 was broke because 90+ power characters were better than anything else. It was just an unfair advantage. Great game, but I hope the next big tennis game is more balanced.

GST2 LOOKS great but plays horrible , if GST2 had the gameplay and ball physics and ball hitting sounds it would be a GREAT game but other than that TS4 is the game you want in terms of simulation , i just started to get into tennis and imma pick it u to learn more about tennis ;D
1. animations dont look fluid at all, i could tell this straight away so it didnt feel like a real game. 2. i wish it had the option of bbc sport commentary/presentation 3. the gameplay feels a bit arcadey solve all of them and the game for me would be worth getting (although the second point isnt a need for me)

I don't know what it is, I could play video games of Hockey, Golf, Soccer, and Tennis all day long. Very fun enjoyable games, but watching the real sport on tv puts me to sleep.

I would hope this is more like Virtua. I hated Top Spin 4, I bought it from Game Stop, played it, hated it, brought it back and said it didn't work, replaced it for Virtua, and love it. This looks even better.
