Hi ...I have some older style double glazed windows with and exterior rubber gasket....but...on the internal side of the frame there is a type of double sided foam tape that is adhered to the glass... Can this type of unit be replaced??
Nice video. Thanks. Two questions: - do I have to cut both pieces of gasket that join at any corner? Or just one? - how do I measure the gap size of my windows? I need to replace the gaskets currently installed, but do I measure the gap on the window itself or the thickness of the old gasket?
bit late in the day but one side have removable beading / trim that you can prise off putting a paper scraper at the edge furthest from the glass (bottom edge) - most have them on inside but if old windows may have it on outside
You make putting the replacement gasket look SO easy, but I am struggling.... its taken all afternoon just to do one pane. I am using the handle of a spoon to push the gasket into place, is there an easier way?
Often called "wedge gasket" or "wedge seal" (different to the type used here), but they come if different thicknesses depending on the gap, e.g. 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm. Some of the suppliers offer a sample kit of the different seals they have so you can work out which one you need.

Any tips on how to get them in place when they seem too tight to fit? I can't find anything about this. Maybe soapy water or a heat gun? I'm stuck.

squirt soapy water on the glass
Could be too big? (Late reply I know!) Soapy water and warming up the gasket in warm water first are helpful too
