Sometimes a dead star is more worth than a living star. Specifically if that star was about to do something that would ruin his career. A dead star at the peak of his career can become a legend that you can monetize, a living ex-star isn't worth anything. Or if that star was about to switch teams, in that case it would harm you team double by losing him AND having to go against him. If he's dead then it's like he's in that team forever and they won't lose him as a face/icon
