This sounds like when someone who I wasn't really close with told me that he was gay. He asked me if I was homophobic and I told him no and then he went on to tell me he was gay and I just told him"okay, good for you but I don't really care if you are gay or not."

Jokes aside, this is actually a really good portrayal of “coming out”. When the gay guy’s friend is a bit uncomfortable at his sexuality, the gay kid doesn’t say anything like, “Oh, so is there something wrong with being gay? You got a problem with that homophobe?”. He instead tries to explain to his friend why him being gay isn’t a big deal and won’t get in the way of their friendship. His friend also isn’t treated as a bad person for being confused by the aspect of sexuality, but he’s not treated as a good guy either. He’s just treated as someone unfamiliar to the aspect of homosexuality. It’s actually unironically beautiful.
So treating them like a person who has their own strengths and flaws and who has their own fair share of ignorance but are willing to learn regradless of it niceeeeeeeee.

When I came out to my two best friends it was at a sleepover I was hosting and they were so incredibly chill and supportive about it. I had gone to get ready for bed later that night, and when I came back they were even looking up about lgbtq+ and we all sat around and educated ourselves better about the different sexuality preferences and what they were. I could not have asked for better friends.

seriously true. I've had such a wide variety of reactions when I came out as bisexual. some friends were cool with it. One friend says "You're not bi, you just think you are because you watch anime." Which I don't get......but the best reaction I got was when I told my boyfriend. He was very accepting, which I appreciated, but the first thing he says is "Don't worry, I like girls too!" and honestly I was dying of laughter.
