- Det. Nyla Harper's (Mekia Cox) ex is upset at her for taking their daughter during a bomb threat, but Sgt. Grey (Richard T. Jones) and Nolan (Nathan Fillion) defend her. Watch 'The Rookie' SUNDAY 10|9c on ABC.
Nolan always and i mean ALWAYS stood up for his people, he first stood up for Bishop towards CHEIF now Harper towards her ex. He is the best
And starting from this point Nolan gained respect from Harper. So much so that next episode Chen become victim of Harper's antique calling her "Not Nolan"
Don't forget, he got Harper out of a bad situation when she was undercover in the back seat of Rips black suv.
Because he’s the Producer of the show.
What a guy 🎉
Y do ppl break up if someone is a police officer and they r working constantly to build a future for there kids
If all cops were like Nolan, the world would be a better place. It's a shame more cops don't watch this show and look up to Nolan as a good example of how they should behave.
Nolan came in to back up Harper the same way he stood up for Bishop. A true hero.
Dream Music I Miss Bishop
I miss her
reynoldstheoplis94 do you know bishop isn’t in this season?
Nolan is too kind hearted to be a cop
@@jonathanmora8208 100%
Cops are pieces of shit.
Even Grey at the end is like "Nope im out, cant be crying in front of my officers" 😂😂😂😂
I think is what is called a "strategic retreat".
@@petert3355*Tactical Withdrawal
Like 'succumbing to gravity'
I don’t care what you say Nathan Fillion is one of the most overlooked actors in Hollywood that man can deliver his lines like they weren’t written for him like it’s coming out of his mouth naturally
FACTS!
his VA work is also testament to this, i couldn't imagine GS Buck and Cayde-6 being the same guy, but he makes it work!
I like how in his defense of her Nolan makes mention of her arrogance just to make her aware of a noticeable flaw. Basically he was saying, "Despite you behaving like an arrogant prick I and every other officer will always have your back."
I also like how he deflects back to the daughter when Nyla starts to thank him. He wasn't in it for praise or gratitude.
@@HariSeldon913I just noticed that too. He clearly didn’t want the thanks he just wanted her to have her daughter back in her life
I felt it was for authenticity, to show her ex he understood her issues better than he thought, and prove that he was talking to him man to man and not sucking up to his boss. Her honesty is not reliable, so having a third party speaking credibly changed the situation.
Nolan earned Bishop’s respect by having her back. He earned Bradford’s respect showing up to work despite a hit called out on him in season 1. And now this. Which is why Bradford endorsed Nolan for Union Rep because he has the back of everyone in the department.
I thought I will hate bradford. Turns out he is the best cop in the department.
@@ponglenis9273haha, I think lucy made him soft. He can be a bit stingy but we love him!
Yup and even in one of the episodes Tim said that he never or never will endorse a union rep but after all this he earned the endorsement
He's got everyone's back, even smithy who is not the best cop lol
I really loved Bishop. Never thought Harper will fill her shoes so well.
What I love bout this scene is both Nyla & Nolan are learning each others expertise
Nyla training Nolan to be a cop
Nolan helping Nyla to be a parent
And the last bit all 3 cops (Nyla, Nolan & Grey) are parents
Lol Sergeant Grey was about to cry that is why he walked away so fast. Can’t tell if that was the intended reaction or the actor genuinely tearing up and the director choosing to keep the moment in the show.
@Yellow Birb the scene was very well done especially Fillion's delivery of dialogue and both the kid and the actress who plays Harper's reaction. I think the actor who plays Grey felt genuinely emotional by the intensity of the scene because custody battles between parents over a kid is not a frequent thing just illustrated on tv but happens frequently in real life as well.
@C M Kaley Cuoco was actually trying not to cry during the I love you scene in BBT.
Naya Rivera actually cried during The Quarterback episode of Glee.
@Aspire Tenacity Gaming Kaley Cuoco was actually trying not to cry during the I love you scene in BBT.
Naya Rivera actually cried during The Quarterback episode of Glee.
Actors can and do actually cry during emotional scenes even if it isnt called for it.
Fillion was born to play a cop. That's the only thing i didn't like about Castle that he was wasted as a consultant in it. Lol
From what I heard Sgt. is very sensitive & respectful in real life. He hated acting like I jerk Tyler Perry movie why did I get married 1 & 2. He would apologize to them women on set after every scene
The depth of the characters backstory and the way each actor, main or secondary, impersonates his, are for me the biggest assets of this show. Can't get enough of The Rookie!
I think what I love about this scene the most isn’t just Nolan standing up for Harper, but the fact Grey is there as well, they know more than anything they’d do anything for their kids, they’re both fathers as well, they know very well
And this is why Nyla calls any other rookie “not Nolan”
What I like about harper is, she is depicted as a very strong woman, but not actually toxic. Stubborn, yes, but that is a flaw that makes her well written. She shed a single tear and instantly tried falling back behind her mask. When nolan was confused after learning bailey was married, harper didn’t sugarcoat it or smth, she was real with him and told him it was essentially a lie. But she didn’t push him to breaking up. Harper was always genuine and let him into her space. I miss bishop, but i am happy we got harper as replacement.
love how grey sheds a tear then walks away😭
Her daughter is so freaking adorable
And definitely a lot tougher than Donovan gives her credit.
Mekia Cox was awesome in this scene!! So believable!! So emotional and touching!!
I just watched this episode just now as it just aired last night (Thursday February 20, 2020) here in the U.K.
Nolan is so the man because what he said came from being a middle-aged man who’s been through a divorce, had a kid and now his kid’s grown arse man and understands the importance of parents/children/family.
In short with age comes experience and I think he pieced together pretty quick what was going on because he found out what type of solicitor that guy his TO was talking to was.
I love the show and the best part was even Grey shed a tear can we just talk about that for a second.
The show just fucking rocks 🤘
Those two might not be together but for once two beautiful people made a beautiful child. That little one is stunning.
Nice, standing up for his partner just like he did with Bishop in the previous season.
Nolan has a huge heart and I get her husband anger but he also seems to forget that it was her job and it’s demanding and the effect it has on those doing it is massive. Harper is a great mom
Time and time again, John has shown every other cop at Wilshire he's earned the right to be there wearing the badge. Including the Captain during the first season and SSgt. Grey.
Sousa?!? What are you doing outside of S.H.I.E.L.D.?!?!?
Daisy’s gonna be pissed!
Watching this episode now and it always gets me. Mekia and Nathan are magic together! I love the friendships of Nolan/Harper and Angela/Tim! So geniune!
Nathan Fillion's voice lands on the natural "dead zone" where it's possible to attach any emotion from cold detachment to heartfelt compassion to towering fury all from the perspective of the listener and the scene in question, with him barely making any effort to change his voice at all. That's why its easy for him to make such a convincing scene from the watcher's viewpoint.
All the Agent Sousa comments have made my day!! Love you Sousa!!
I love circling back to this scene. Still catching up on the show. But as a kid of divorced parents one thing I 100% appreciate how the father behaves. Yes 100% justified in anger, but despite ALL that, that act of making sure he tells the daughter go hug mom. Its so powerful, yet so many separated parents forget this and end up tainting the kid with anger towards the other parent.
can't wait to catch up to the latest eps! the cast and show have been amazing to watch
1:35 hug… that was very classy of him
She always played hard and then when he saw her true self, damn. Now they have an unbreakable bond.
Agent Daniel Sousa vs Rick Castle 😮😮 NICE WORK WRITERS ❤️❤️
god damn it, I watched Agent carter recently, now all I saw is Daniel Sousa XD
Same
Bet Bishop is proud of Nolan
Yep :)
I miss Bishop. 😭

A true father figure
a very touching scene. Nolan is badass....
God I don’t understand how Harper could’ve had a kid with such a baby
At this point in the series, Donovan's bitterness and rampant distrust of his ex-wife is more understandable, due to Harper's history as a top undercover officer who put her work first far too many times before she burnt out and almost lost access to her daughter. She's not very far on her path of rebuilding trust with her ex and her daughter, so she hasn't rebuilt the trust yet.
Now, as of recent seasons, the ex-husband has been a far more detestable figure because he's pulled stuff because of not getting things his way, thinking that Harper will not push back because he could still take her daughter away from her. Which is a shame, because I thought Donovan (the ex) was sympathetic enough character in early appearances.
@@generalilbisYa, its not often you get to see the roles reversed for this scenario and they kinda dropped the ball for it.
I love how it brought Grey to tears.
Nice that Sargent is slowly getting better about Nolan.
This world is too cruel for John Nolan we really don't deserve him
You know I respect the father's position in this scene. Just because we are rooting for Harper and want her to make things work with her daughter doesn't mean the father's position here is unjustified. If I were informed about a pending missile strike and couldn't find my daughter I'd be frantic and out of my mind. If I found out that my ex wife who is absolutely not supposed to have any unsupervised contact with our daughter was the one that took her, I'd be pissed too.
That's good writing right there.
This scene always bring me to tears.
Grey and Nolan look at each other like you do good
God that hit right in the feels.
Grey: who put onions in the room
Who else wants Nyla and Nolan to be a thing?.....😃😀🙂😐 No, just me?......
Yes I agree
No
At first, yes, but she is his TO so it is not possible for a romantic relationship there. Later on, no, Nyla storyline become a hot mess with ex husband, new boyfriend, new baby. Also there already a romantic relationship between TO and ex-boot (ChenFort)
Friends? Yeah. Couple? Hell naw.
Noooo😅🙅🏽♀️
Aw Grey was about to cry! 😢😢
Nolan's been there for everyone
Beautiful scene
As a new mom, a mom will ALWAYS want to protect their child and never to hurt them
I Believe This Is Moment Where They Became Friends 😊
Sgt. Grey will gonna cry 🤣
Nolan represents the best of humanity!
My favorite scene in the entire show
Il like how this show humanizes the protagonists
Why does this make my cry every time?
Nolan will always fight for those who deserve a second chance. Which to him, is pretty much everyone.
DAMN IT who brought the onions out!
In hindsight Nyla, Nolan, Grey and Donovan should have said she will stop doing Detective or undercover work until Lyla is in high school
Big fan of Nathan Fillion (Firefly_Serenity_Castle) but have NEVER watched a single episode of The Rookie - I recently got Hulu and stumbled across The Rookie and watched S1E1 _ two weeks later I was totally caught up through season 6! WTH How did I miss this ..what a great show!
i genuinely wait anxiously every week for this show, it quickly became the best show airing right now for me
P.S.: and Yay, i guessed right, it was Enver Gjokaj
The only cops show that l watched
Great Cast Awesome storylines.
That little girl is the cutest EVER!!!!!
good scene, good acting.
I'm not crying...you are crying! :D
The more important questions is… where did the daughter get those eyes?!?!?! Neither of the parents have those.
For a split second I thought that to. However, Blue is recessive. Human have two eye genes, one from each parent. Both parents could have a brown and blue eye gene, so only brown shows up, but if she got both parent’s blue gene, she would have blue eyes
@@Megumareta might as well also include albinism, rare genetic disorder, or new satellite or point mutation if we want to discuss how this fictional situation could occur. The rate of recessive blue inheritance and penetrance is lower than usual darwinistic pattern suggesting allelic linkage. So for a recessive carrier in an African American individual, it would be very rare. I really meant to discuss in terms of how pretty it was tbh.
@@ReportTheHackers In the end, it doesn't really matter what her parents have. She can be genetically influenced by any number of generations going back. It could come from a great-great-great grand daddy. We just never know.....
@@joehamlet7576 do you make it a habit to opine on stuff you have no working knowledge of or only on taco Tuesdays
Onions burning my eyes...lol
Two brown eyed parents and green eyed daughter - you'd better start asking questions, dad!
Grey's not crying. Hes has allergies.
2:09 When she says "yeah.." the song said "*she was*"
weird timing!
I really like Nolan. He really understand people Feel.
I’m new to this show & I absolutely love Nolan he’s my favorite
Acting wise, harper is insane. I remember the first time she went into crystal. Whattt the???
Grey i saw that little bit of water
Just like her mother a great person
Bring back Enver Gjokaj.
Its really too bad they ended the whole BIshop and Nolan team thing. They had great chemistry and could even seen and end series relationship but they ended the character because axed the actress over so called online bullying like Brie Larson and Now Gina Carano is getting
Not online bullying lol, she made claims that a guest star on the show was sexually harassing her but no evidence was found to back up her claims
What is agent Sousa doing here?
Sergeant Wade Grey is my favourite character ❤
This is almost a Chenford level rewatch for me...which is a large number 😳❤❤❤
I said I would find you agent Sousa...
Grey was gonna cry
Agent Sousa?!
Harper is tougher than bishop and arrogant. Bishop was everything but arrogant
Is that DANIEL SOUSA I see 👀👀
Harper has definitely become my favorite character of the show
Sousa!
I love that kid's hair.
As the father of a biracial daughter… that head of hair is beautiful… but I bet she spends SO much time on it.
Damn I can t stand her ex at all. So toxic
Dr. Charles daughter.
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT!
That was ridiculous that he wanted Harper arrested.
Ik he was such a punk I don’t blame her for getting her daughter cause one rules don’t matter when your alerted about a nuclear attack I wouldn’t take any chances

Hi series name guys please 🙏🏻
Not to sound creepy or anything, but The daughter is so pretty. Her hair, and her eyes.
A mothers love is so important
Laila is such a sweet girl.
Is Nathan Fillion skinnier?
Yup....
I believe he said he went on a diet and worked out a little before season 2 began filming. Whether it was for the show or not who knows.
Yup..... Looks weird
He probably had to get in a diet for his role in Suicide Squad 2.
He looks like a cop now
Sounds like Don should have a little more faith in his Ex.
Guys like Nolan give hope to guys like me.
I love this show
Is he single?
Sousa? Never seen you be so rude toward a lady? what happened?
